“My boy had such a good vacation with Shelly. We were worried about his separation anxiety, but he did amazing thanks to Shelly! She sent several updates through the day and wasn’t shy to answer any questions and responded very quickly. Our boy almost didn’t want to go home! Thank you to Shelly and her husband for taking such good care of Dutch. He loves y'all and can’t wait for his next vacation.”

“Megan was amazing I recently boarded my rescue Prince for the first time, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience! Megan took such amazing care of Prince during his two-night stay. She went above and beyond—sending me some of the best photos and videos I’ve ever had of him, including clips of him playing and socializing with larger dogs (which was a first for him!). It meant so much to see him having that kind of fun and confidence. Megan also kept me updated with daily “doggy report cards” and personalized notes, which were such a thoughtful touch. When I picked him up, it was clear he had an incredible time—he was almost sad to leave! He even made a new best friend with her dog, Kava. I’m so grateful for the care and attention Megan gave, and I will absolutely be booking with her again. Truly a 5-star experience from start to finish!”

“Wonderful sitter! Really helped us out last minute. Our dog was well loved and taken care of and made us feel at ease the entire length of her stay. Would definitely book again in the future.”

“Milena was great! She treated my boy like one of her own. She was communicative and sent lots of pictures as I was initially anxious about leaving him. Thank you so much for treating him well! We will be booking with her again!”

“Julie & Kenneth took such great care of our boy! We were sent daily picture updates of all the fun activities. I could tell that Dallas felt completely at home with them. Dallas is an elder with medication and anxiety and Julie & Kenneth handled all medications and special care instructions with grace. We will definitely rebook with them in the future!”

“This was our first time leaving our puppy, and it seems that we weren't missed at all. James was very professional during the booking process, and was very thorough in making sure he understood everything he needed to know about Otis (who is very low maintenance, but I appreciated James' attention to detail.) I wish I had more to constructively report, but when everything goes exactly according to plan, all that remains for me to say is "Thanks, James!!!"”

“Megan was absolutely amazing. I always have anxiety when leaving my dogs with someone new but she made me feel so much better. She was kind and patient and gave me great updates on my dogs wellbeing.”

“Robert and Taylor were great and accommodated a last minute stay around the holidays. We got picture updates and our boy seemed like he had a great time. Highly recommend!!”

“This is Finn's 2nd time going to Melody & Matthew and he absolutely loves it. They make him feel welcome! He loves having other dogs to play with. Melody keeps me updated with pictures and quick replies. When a situation arise, she quickly notified me. He is wore out for the next couple of days after visiting with them.”

“Omaira and Isaac were absolutely wonderful with our dogs! They took such great care of our six-year-old Frenchie and our seven-month-old Doberman for five days, and we couldn’t have asked for better sitters. They were patient, attentive, and clearly very comfortable caring for dogs with different energy levels and needs. We received great updates and felt completely at ease knowing our pups were in loving, capable hands. Both dogs came home happy, well cared for, and clearly loved during their stay. We are so grateful for the care they provided and would highly recommend Omaira and Isaac to anyone looking for reliable, kind, and trustworthy sitters. We would absolutely book with them again!”

“Shanae was absolutely amazing , and Nova fully enjoyed her time with Shanae and Ash. I would definitely book with her again with no hesitation. She’s attentive, keeps you informed, and makes sure to send lots of pictures. She truly has an amazing spirit”

“She was absolutely great with our pup. He was well taken care of and she kept me updated with pictures and videos through out our time away. I highly recommend her.”

“Lauryn and family took such good care of my Miko that is 16 years old, they made sure she ate every day sent photos of her being out side for her business and fresh air. We recommend Lauryn. Thanks so much”

About: I have had dogs and cats in my life since i was a baby! They have always been my bestfriend! I currently have 1 dog (a golden retriever) and 2 cats. And I’ve house sat for many many fiends for long periods of time. In my eyes i don’t see them as just animals but another member to the family. And that’s how i would treat your fur babies! You should feel comfortable leaving your fur babies in the hands of someone else when life becomes busy or you just need to get away. and i promise I will give your babies all the love and attention they deserve! I work weekdays but i get off early almost everyday with very flexible hours and I’m off every weekend. My work schedule is pretty flexible. I have loads of free time! I have a fenced in yards. My dog is an inside dog (the house belongs to her lol) i have 2 cats that wants to sit on everyone lap. My dog has full access to the house when I’m home and only the downstairs when I’m gone. The cats roam the house as they please but they love to be by my side more than anything! My dog spends so much time outside playing and gets a long walk every day!
“Emily is the best! She is so kind and caring. My dog is very loved while in her presence and i can tell she has the genuine heart for animals! highly recommend! 10/10!”

“Our second booking with Kimberly—and a longer one this time. Her care of our dog has been most excellent—we know he’s safe and loved on while we’re away.”

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
