“This is the second time Jaylyn has pet sit for us and we are so thankful for her care for our furry babies! We have four younger rescue dogs and Jaylyn is relaxed and chill with them and has a great sense of humor, which I so appreciate, while providing care for each of their unique personalities. At our first meet and greet there was some barking but before the visit was over our slightly more apprehensive and on guard dog was giving her kisses. Jaylyn didn’t stress our dogs, we watched her respecting their comfort zones and as a result they all did end up happily wanting her attention. Jaylyn put our minds at ease as we left them all for the first time for a few days in a row (she pet sit in our home) and she was the first we reached out to when we needed a day sitter now. Her willingness to accommodate what is important to us in the care of our dogs means a lot to us. I appreciate her correspondence while we are away too. Our dogs are our family and we feel at ease with them in Jaylyn’s care.”

“Mallory was absolutely awesome giving excellent care for our sweet Presley and KitKats 🥰 She made our trip away great knowing they were all getting lots of love and care which gave up a peaceful vacation 💝❤️ will definitely love her to come again in future…Presley was a pup and needed extra love and She did that and beyond!! We loved her and they did too”
“Our original house sitter (not from Rover) cancelled about a week away from departure. Because of the timing there were no kennel options (we don't do cheap with the babies), and Rover past sitters were all unavailable. Stephen came up with no previous jobs in this area but seemed ok on the site. So with our previous good experiences with Rover we decided to give him a try. He came over for about an hour the day after we picked him to meet the doggies and find out about the house which is large with a lot of automation. By the end of that meeting we were comfortable with his abilities. While we were away, he checked in with us daily, sent pictures and asked good questions on things that I had forgot to mention. The doggies took to him right away and ate well (one gets finnicky if he is worried) while having a good time with him. We always tell house sitters to make themselves at home and have never had a problem with the condition of the house when we returned. Stephen was no exception, he left the house clean, vacuumed, dishes clean and left the bedding as instructed by my wife. One of our dogs is very good at escaping and runs across roads, through yards and can get lost. Stephen apparently had no problems keeping Henry busy but, on a leash, outside of the house as observed on the outdoor Ring cameras during walks. We (including the doggies) look forward to seeing him again. We would highly recommend him for your consideration.”

“Lisa stayed at our house with the pups for just over 2 weeks while we were away. We were nervous about hiring a new sitter, especially for such a long period, but she was fantastic. We even had a travel delay coming back, and she stayed an extra night to care for our pups (it was a HUGE relief!). The pups seemed very happy and well cared for, and so did our house. Her and her boys were a pleasure and we would absolutely book them again.”

About: I've been around dogs my whole life and grew up in a house that always had anywhere from three to six dogs running around. Because of that, caring for animals has always come naturally to me. I genuinely love animals and have always treated them with the same kindness and patience I'd want someone to show my own pets. I currently have three dogs of my own, and I know how nerve-wracking it can be to leave your pets with someone else. That's why I make it a priority to treat every dog I care for like they're part of my own family. Whether your dog loves long walks, playing fetch, or just wants someone to sit with them and give them attention, I'm happy to meet their individual needs. I've also raised and trained all three of my dogs from puppies, so I'm comfortable with younger dogs who need a little extra patience, consistency, and supervision. My goal is to make sure your pet feels safe, loved, and comfortable while you're away, and to give you peace of mind knowing they're in good hands. I currently work PRN, which gives me a very flexible schedule and allows me to accommodate a variety of pet care needs. I also babysit on the side, so I'm always looking to fill open spots in my schedule with something I genuinely enjoy—caring for animals. While weekends tend to be when I have the most availability, I'm open to helping throughout the week as well. Whether you need care planned in advance or last-minute assistance, I'm happy to work with your schedule whenever possible. I understand that every pet is different, which is why I always make it a priority to follow your pet's normal routine and any instructions you provide. Whether I'm caring for your pet in your home for a drop-in visit, walk, or overnight stay, I'll make sure they feel comfortable, safe, and well cared for in their familiar environment. I treat every pet as if they were my own and believe in providing plenty of attention, affection, exercise, and companionship while you're away. My goal is to make the experience as stress-free as possible for both you and your pet, while keeping you updated with messages and photos so you can have peace of mind knowing they're in good hands!

If you let them into your life and allow them to teach you, you will be better for it. they truly help you if you really need someone to listen love about any animal or bird is pure because in that love u dont expect anything from them
“Hannah was great. We had an extended trip that changed near the last minute, not only was she flexible and worked with us to adjust but I think our boy dog fell in love with her, he was a mess for a while after she left. Will definitely look to work with Hannah again in the future.”

“Christie was excellent. My puppies loved her. While we were away, she sent me pics of the puppies every day doing something in their normal daily routine. She took them for walkies, which cemented her and their relationship because it is one of their favorite activities which we told her was optional because they get super excited and is like walking a team of pulling sled dogs. She handled it with ease. When we returned home after the "happy to see you" reunion, the puppies were calm, full of tail wags, and going back to Christie to be petted and loved on. Christie also watered my garden for me while we were gone. She is very neat and tidy and the house was exactly mirror to when we left the week before. Our puppies have limited access to other people so they are suspicious of all new people they encounter, Christie won our dogs over with ease because she has a very gentle, kind, and genuinely caring nature as person. If you want worry free pet care and house sitting you should contact Christie.”

About: I've been pet sitting for friends and neighbors since around the time I entered by teenage years. I've also worked in two veterinary clinics that offered animal boarding. As such, I'm experienced at caring for a variety of both cats and dogs, as well as administering medication, following strict diets, and cleaning up messes. My coworkers wpuld pften request me by name to help deal with larger or chunkier dogs. I'm currently attending college with classes Monday through Thursday. However, I have no exceptionally early classes, and my school day is always over by 2pm. The rest of my schedule is flexible enough to work around pet sitting with little issue. Friends and neighbors have trusted me in their homes to care for their pets for years, and I've never broken that trust. I always make sure to clean up any messes caused by pets, report strange behavior or possible symptoms of illness to the owner, and lock the doors behind me as I leave. I also make sure every pet gets plenty of attention from me.
“Peyton is just the most wonderful and considerate pet sitter. My three Scotties and my cat Simon adore her and I honestly can't say enough good things about her. She sent me pics of all of them daily and let me know what they were up to and she was always so quick to communicate. I am a total cuckoo-codependent with my animals, so I was able to have the best time while on vacation knowing they were with her. More than doing a phenomenal job of keeping my fur babies, I also came home to a house as clean as I left it, which is another huge blessing after a long trip. She is the absolute best and if you want total peace of mind while you are away, Peyton is the pet sitter to choose! Seriously, I thanked God for her multiple times while I was traveling!”

“Hope was a wonderful sitter for my Westie. She stayed overnite for one nite. She was prompt, sent me a picture when she arrived, walked her and fed her. Will definitely use her again!”
“Maria took excellent care of my babies and house. She provided daily updates with pictures. My house was left in perfect condition. I would definitely recommend her and will be using her for future visits.”

“Ren was absolutely amazing! Winter is a high maintenance doggo when it comes to walks, but she handled it flawlessly. No amount of words could express how wonderful she was! Definitely going to book again!”

About: I love animals, and have cared for all types of pets all my life. I will love your pets and give them the greatest of care, as if they are my own. I work from home and have a very open schedule. I also have a car and a strong work ethic so when I make a commitment to be somewhere, I am there. I prefer to come to the clients home because I know the animal will be happier in its home environment. I like to give lots of pets, love and attention. I clean up any accidents, make sure water and food bowls are in good shape and provide whatever service the Pet Parent has requested. FAQs for House Sitting - Whitehead
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 142 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Whitehead. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Whitehead walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Whitehead maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Whitehead choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
