About: Dogs have always been a huge part of my life. I grew up with many different breeds including Australian shepherd, golden retriever, basset hound, golden doodle, etc. I’ve cared for a variety of breeds, including Dachshunds, Labs, English Bulldogs, and Huskies, and have experience caring for multiple dogs at the same time. I’m familiar with different temperaments, energy levels, and care needs, and I treat every dog as if they were my own. Whether your pup loves playtime, walks, cuddles, or extra patience and attention, I’m happy to provide the care they deserve. I currently work part-time at Odell’s, which gives me the flexibility to care for pets throughout the week. I have time to dedicate to walks, check-ins, feeding schedules, playtime, and plenty of cuddles. I understand how important it is to have someone dependable caring for your pets, and I treat every animal like they’re my own. No matter what, I do my best to keep them on their normal routine to help them feel comfortable and secure. I follow feeding schedules, provide fresh water, exercise, potty breaks, playtime, and lots of attention. I understand that every pet is different, so I adapt to their personality and needs, whether they are energetic and playful or prefer a calmer environment. I also make sure owners receive updates and photos so they can feel confident their pet is happy and well cared for while they’re away. Safety is always a top priority, and I treat every pet as if they were my own.

I was kind of in between a rock and a hard place.. I had to go out of town in a week, and didn’t want to leave my dog in a kennel again.. he has special needs and kennels have too many dogs to pay special attention to him so I tried Rover... My request for assistance was accepted right away. I was always able to reach the sitters and they sent me updates and statuses ... definitely recommend Cheyannes assistance if you need a sitter

Katy was heaven sent, or found. Even the best dog lover has had a difficult time winning over our golden doodle. This was not the case with Katy, she was loved at their first meeting. Our other fur baby loved her equally. We are to be counted among Katy's number one fans. We appreciated the pictures and videos while we were away. We will be welcoming you back again. Thanks Katy!

About: I have had dogs all my life. I’ve trained and walked my dog from when he was a puppy to now. He’s a little older now, but I still try to walk him and take him in adventures with me I have a lot of free time and can care for your animal if your planning your next trip, vacation or just need a little alone time My dog is very friendly and my cat can be standoffish but quickly adapts. My house is far from the town and wonderful little place for your animals to stay.

This was our first time using Rover for watching our 5 Yr boxer for a long weekend getaway. As most pet owners would agree that leaving your pet with someone can be stressful. Well, it could not of gone better for us. Belle was watched over and all instructions were followed and she was a happy dog on our return. We will use Taylor and Trenton again when we need to leave her behind.

Reba was truly the best pet sitter we could have ever asked for! She watched our animals overnight for four nights while we were out of state over the holidays. She is incredible and went above and beyond in every way. Im naturally anxious when leaving our animals, but Reba quickly calmed any nerves I had. She sent updates throughout the day with multiple photos/videos attached each time. It was noticeable that all of our animals absolutely loved her and each one got more than enough individual play time/attention. We couldn’t recommend Reba enough and feel so fortunate to have had her taking care of our babies! 😊

We had the pleasure of having Heather take care of our sweet golden at the last minute on a holiday weekend while attending a family funeral. I was a nervous wreck to leave my girl with someone strange but Heather took the leash and handled everything professionally. Her communication (pics included) put me at ease. She was great - went above and beyond - and if I lived in that beautiful area I would hire her often and feel right at ease.

About: I have lived with animals my whole life. Big dogs, small dogs, cats, birds, and hamsters. I have always loved animals and I have taken care of them as if they were my bestest friend. Spending time with animals makes my day and I have never met a pet that hasn’t loved me! I am in college part time. When I come home the first thing I do is walk my dogs and feed my cats. I make sure all of my animals have everything that they need. My schedule is pretty open for the most, and I always find time to take care of pets. The first thing I would do with your pet or pets is make sure they’re comfortable with me, and that they are happy. Afterwards, I would make sure they are fed properly and have plenty of water. I would try to play with them, and make them as happy as possible.

About: I’ve taken care of dogs and cats since I was 10 years old. My parents always said you want it, you take care of it. My love for animals started from a young age with my first kitty Indie, and my dog Coco. I’ve had multiple animals over the years ranging in size and age. I have house sit for Family and friends and love the fuzzy creatures company! I’m currently enrolled in Community college, during the day and work part-time at night. The weekends Would be the best but I can still house sit on the weekdays depending on the needs of the pet and owner! Our two doggies Bear and Blue spend most of their time inside, and in our big backyard playing with the ball. I am capable of ensuring the animals are played with, fed, and taken out! With my dogs I usually feed them separately incase if food aggression, but I can follow any rules that pet owners need for their furry friends.

FAQs for House Sitting - White Plains

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of June 2026, there are 220 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across White Plains. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred White Plains walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in White Plains maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in White Plains choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in White Plains. On Rover:

  • 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 95% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
