“Amanda was great with our three Husky’s. They are all blowing their coats and she did a great job keeping up with the flying fur. Our dogs were so calm and relaxed when we got home, she did a great job of keeping me updated and I didn’t have to worry about whether or not they were well cared for during our vacation!”

“I was nervous about leaving my furbabies with a stranger but Kori reassured me and kept her word by sending me daily photos (sometimes several) of my dogs and was in constant contact the whole time. The house was as clean as I left it and she even washed her sheets and towels! The next time we go out of time I hope she's available.”

About: I have owned dogs and cats since 1985 and was on a K9 Search and Rescue team for 18+ years so I have worked with all types of dogs and have a lot of experience with training. I currently work outside the home M-F 9-5 but can work from home upon request. Weekends I am home the majority of the time and spend most of my time hanging out with my own dogs (two labs) I have hosted a variety of dogs in my home including corgis, labs, goldens, frenchies, pitties, mals, and other assorted breeds. I treat everyone's pets just like my own - lots of treats, snuggles, couch naps, and of course sleeping on the bed if they want. Both of my labs are extremely friendly and love pretty much all dogs, but I do have experience sitting some dogs who preferred to be separate from my boys via either baby gates or kennels (depending on what the dog is comfortable with). I have a large fenced in backyard and a smaller fenced in front yard. The backyard has a doggie door that allows the dogs to go in and out at will, although when I am not home, I do not give any dogs access to the yard (even my own dogs as a safety issue).

I also stick to whatever routine or special instructions the owner gives me.
About: I’ve had 2+ dogs in my entire life. In my adult life I’ve had 2+ service dogs that travel with me. I am a critical care nurse who has taken pet CPR as far as safety. I have emergency meds as well. Luckily, I have a house with a fences in yard, animal friendly household with spare rooms and a heated/cooled garage/closed/secured garage for any kind of special separation needs (in heat/aggressive breeds/outside animals, etc). Currently off enjoying a break from work, .. . So as of now, my schedule is very flexible. My household/fenced backyard/garage, is sectioned off pretty nicely. So, I have a very flexible availability overall. I am very positive I can meet most requests/needs for boarding/grooming/daycare/etc. So just let me know! I have a three bedroom house with a fenced in backyard, doggie door, heated/cooled garage that is secure and closed off separate from the house with his own doggie door for added space.. is a very accommodating/adaptable layout also self-sufficient if need be, but I should be here the entire time
“Paige was an outstanding sitter for Princess, and a very separation anxiety, Panache. She made sure that his food was upstairs under my bed, so that he could access it. It does take her awhile to answer texts from me, but her care of my pets and home was excellent.”

“Corrine was fantastic with our dog and cat while we were away! We received daily updates and pictures, she also went above and beyond and gathered the mail for us and took out our trash. We’ll definitely rebook with her!”

“Jeannine was the absolute best. My dogs were comfortable with her immediately and she treated them as her own. I felt at ease leaving them with her since they are my babies basically. Definitely recommend and will be booking with her again. & she took care of them while in the process of hectic wedding planning! Congratulations again!”

“Valerie is the sweetest! She is so knowledgeable about animals and their needs. She bonded with our puppy Charlie instantly. She came to the house and watched Charlie for 5 hours and was so attentive to her. They went for a walk, played ball and snuggled on the couch together. I highly recommend Valerie as a Fur Nanny! She’s the best!!”

I have taken the dogs on walks, played with them inside and outside, fed them, and given them so much lovens! I have watched a variety of dogs from small to big! I just absolutely love all dogs and want to take the best care of yours! I’m currently working full time as a nanny monday-fridays 8AM-4:30PM. I would be available to walk or check in on your furry friends after I get off! I’d be able to also stay overnight if you're out of town and be with them in the morning and evenings! The weekends I am free any time! I wont be able to have any pets at my house as i’m currently living with my in laws. However, I would be able to stay or watch them at yours! “Karie was absolutely wonderful caring for our two dogs while we were away for the weekend. She was always sending photos of the dogs and making sure they were well cared for. We would highly recommend Karie for all of your animal needs!”

“Shane is awesome! He took great care of our 3 goldens and 4 cats. He was very good with Tank (our high maintenance dog) and was able to keep him calm and happy. We got daily photos and updates. I never worried. Shane is trustworthy and dependable. I think the dogs were upset when we got home as they were hoping it was Shane. Thank you for taking good care of everyone while we were away. We will always look to book Shane for our pet sitting needs.”

“Tori was prompt in arriving to pick up my house key and getting instructions. She followed up with questions that were relevant to their care that it hadn't occurred to me to discuss during her drop in. My dogs seemed to love her on their meet and greet, and I'm sure they were happy to see her when she came into my house. She was willing to fit us in with another client booked on a Friday night. It was greatly appreciated by my boyfriend and I. She came as many times as she said she would in the 5 hour span that we requested her services and reported back on what each dog did each visit, which I appreciated. She is a vet tech, which made me feel comfortable entrusting her with my pet's care. She followed my basic instructions exactly and followed up with questions when needed. She was very communicative, polite, and kind during the timeframe she worked for us. It requires a lot of trust to allow a stranger to watch your pets and have a key to your home. I trusted Tori with my pets and home and she did not disappoint. And now that I've found a Rover so close to home I'm sure to be a repeat customer! A big thank you to Tori from Sarah and her crazy labs! :)”

“This is our second time using Mariah for a day trip and she is an excellent sitter. She genuinely cares for our dogs and treats them like her own. She has no problems administering winnie's medication and gives extra care to hope who has alot of fear issues. I would highly recommend her to anyone searching for a caring and sweet person to care for their pets.”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of August 2026, there are 298 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across West Point. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred West Point walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in West Point maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in West Point choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in West Point. On Rover:
- 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
