“I knew Winnie was in great hands right away. Hope made sure to ask all the right questions and played with our anxious puppy as we left so Winnie wouldn’t cry. Hope also went out of her way to drive two hours round trip so Winnie could be the flower girl in our wedding ceremony. It’s obvious how much she loves dogs and knows how to handle them.”

“Cara was amazing with our Saint Berdoodle Lizzie! She was so understanding of her energetic, playful puppy personality! She sent us pictures and videos while we were away, which gave us peace of mind. Lizzie came home happy, and we were so appreciative that Cara took such great care of her, especially on such short notice.”

“Deirdre is AMAZING!!! If we could give a million stars, we absolutely would! ⭐️ This was a last-minute decision to have a stranger watch our baby Blü, and Deirdre immediately made us feel completely comfortable. She welcomed Blü into her home, provided excellent care, and kept us updated throughout her entire stay. We are beyond grateful that Blü had such an amazing experience. Deirdre is an absolute sweetheart, and you can truly tell how much she loves caring for animals. ❤️ Do yourself a favor and book with Deirdre, you will not be disappointed! 🐾”

“Sadie was sooo wonderful!! She was extremely accommodating for a last minute booking. She provided updates throughout the day and my baby looked so happy and comfortable, so much that when I went to pick him up, he was happy with staying there to play more! Thank you so much for taking such great care of my boy!!”

“We had a great experience with Desiree. Our husky Kona stayed with her for a couple days and was absolutely exhausted from all the fun! Desiree sent us daily photos of our dog and was very flexible with our pickup/ drop off timing.”

About: Dogs and Cats are just as stressed as you when you have to go out of town. I get it. I want to be here to help your fur baby at home have a low energy time as they are missing their parents when they are gone. I think it’s great to interact as much as possible let’s as much as I think it’s great give them space when they need it. I do not currently have any pets but I have been volunteering at animal shelters for ten years. Through this experience I was able to learn dog and cat behaviors of all kinds. I go in treating the area like it’s their space and I am just a visitor and not a threat. Usually I bring treats and try to see if it’s a good fit (if allowed).
“Fantastic experience! Our little guy is very clingy to us and Sarah slipped right into that role! Pictures everyday and excellent communication through out our out of country trip! Will always use Sarah & Ben!!!”

About: I try to make my place a home away from home. We’re a very active family and the dogs will get lots of playtime both inside and out. Both my children absolutely love every dog they have met and are not intimidated by breed or size. I have owned dogs my entire life and have worked at a doggy daycare and boarding facility for the past 3yrs. We tend to do a lot of hiking and swimming that the dogs will be included in whenever possible. We have a large mainly shaded fenced in yard that the dogs will have access to all day. I am very patient and caring and will care for your dog as if it were my own. Thank you ? I am currently working full time 730am-4pm about 20min from my home. I do go home on lunch so I will be able to let them out to play, potty and have lunch if needed. Dogs will go outside one last time at midnight( I am a light sleeper so will wake if they need to potty) and will go out again at 530am. Dogs that come to my home will be treated as my own. I have two dogs myself who absolutely love to play and always welcome new friends. I also have a 4yr old and a 7yr old who have never met an animal they do not like and enjoy helping care for any animal in our home. Animals are allowed on the furniture, bedrooms and in our kiddie pool of they like to swim. We are also within walking distance of a brook deep enough to cool off in. If there osever an emergency I am less than 5min from our local vet.
“Jessica was fantastic, watching with our 8yo pup while we were at a celebration in Vermont for the weekend! She was even able to take him out for a long walk/hike and sent pics—he had a great time. We will definitely seek her out next time we are in the area and need overnight care.”

“Nora took WONDERFUL care of our two cats Robin and Stu. Frequent updates, direct & thorough communication, and most of all, in the pictures we could tell that they were super happy while under her care :). Planning 100% to reach out to Nora again when we need pet sitting.”

About: I have owned dogs my whole life and am a PhD student looking to use my exercise/break time taking care of your dog! Mondays to Wednesday I have open availability and Thursday to Sundays I am open from about 10AM to 2PM. I am super flexible and happy to follow your doggie rules. I have done formal training for rescue pups and understand dog behaviour/warning signs/signs of stress etc as well as any human can. I like to take my own dog with me most places, hiking, camping, you name it. I have owned dogs from 30lb to 90lb and ones who are super loving and those who are more shy. I am used to dealing with a more shy dog on a regular basis. Hope to hear from you!
“Laura and Tyler were great with my dog! He has pretty bad separation anxiety which makes it very difficult to leave him new places. Laura was awesome about introducing her dogs one by one and letting him get accustomed to her dogs and her home. She tried different areas to see where he would be most comfortable and really put time and effort into getting him to relax and be comfortable. She kept me up to date and make me feel a lot better about where he was and how he was doing. I would definitely use them again when we're in the Adirondacks!”
About: I have taken care of dogs and cats ranging from under one year to 14 years of age. I have administered medication for dogs and cats (orally and via shot). I have provided care for extremely social dogs and anxious pups—I am confident in my ability to provide connection and care.I have also taken care of chickens and am comfortable doing so. I have been living with a golden retriever puppy for the last two years so I’m eager to spend time with some pups of kittens! I am a middle school teacher on summer break. My schedule for July is empty!!! I need work in July before going back to school. Trying to save up to get my own pup… I am unfortunately not available to host dogs at my house since I am living with my parents. I am 24 years old and that’s a bit too much of an ask. Thank you for understanding.

“DJ was excellent with my pup and I will definitely be keeping him in mind when booking in the future. He was very communicative and sent lots of updates as well as cute photos of their adventures. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a responsible, caring sitter.”

“We couldn’t be happier with the service we received from Sean. From the very first communication through dropping Maisy off, staying in touch while we were away and picking her up upon our return, Sean was excellent.”

Every sitter has their own rhythm and routine, but most will follow the flow that keeps your dog happiest. Sitters can give meals on your dog's regular schedule, provide a comfortable place for sleep, and plenty of one-on-one attention.
Sitters may also include daily walks in the neighborhood during your dog's boarding stay. You can also request photo and message updates throughout so you can see which local landmarks or neighborhoods your dog is enjoying.
If your dog is a little shy, consider booking a one-night trial stay! This practice run can boost your and your dog’s confidence before your trip.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Wallingford home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Wallingford.
Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Wallingford sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VT ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
