“Suzanne was a loving, caring and joyful person who took great care of our dog while housesitting. I'd definitely recommend her to anyone in need, and we will certainly be a repeat customer of hers. Thank you, Suzanne!”

“Alejandra was amazing, our dogs olly and isla loved her!! She was very patient with them and she cuddled and played with them alot (they’re puppies) + isla really warmed up to her which is rare because she is usually very picky about the people she’s around with. thank you so much alejandra for taking care of our kids! ◡̈ they loved you alot!! til next time!”

“Katy was fantastic! She was so communicative and was the best caretaker of our dog Josie. She took our directions very considerately and keep us informed daily over the week she watched our dog. I would absolutely hire her again in a heartbeat.”

“Taylor is a fantastic dog sitter! Marley loved her and had a great time. Taylor took great care of Marley, sent me lots of pictures, and kept everything in the house spotless. I would totally recommend Taylor! She is terrific!”

“Ruah was very communicative and reliable during her stay with our kitties. She left the place immaculate and we came home to two happy, healthy fur babies. Would work with Ruah again!”

“Erika was great. Lainey took right to her! Erika went over any beyond what was expected. I appreciated her taking Lainey to the park to explore new things. The house was just like we left it and she even did the towels. I appreciated her taking such good care and playing with Lainey while we were away. Will definitely be using her again. Fabulous dog/house sitter.”

“We have 3 dogs and 3 cats and were traveling for 10 days. CJ took amazing care of our zoo and communicated with us daily about their antics and how they were doing, complete with pictures. We highly recommend her and will definitely book her for our next trip.”

“We have now used Hailey repeatedly, and have absolutely loved having her house sit for our boys. Her communication is outstanding, photo updates multiple times daily, and our house is always clean when we return. She loves on our pups like they are her own, and we appreciate her so much!”
“Summer watched Katie for me on short notice and did a wonderful job! Went above and beyond to make sure my girl was cared for. I’ll reach out to her next time I need a sitter!”

“Sydney was very flexible with our last minute need for a house sitter. She left the house better than when she arrived, was always available for communication, and treated our home and pets as if they were her own. We will absolutely use her again for future needs!”

“I cannot praise Blanca and Mark's care of our babies and home enough to do them justice! They pampered our two rescue and reactive dogs with daily brushings and massaging, twice-daily walks and a lot of cuddling, training and rewarding in addition to feeding and medicating them on schedule. We received daily updates with videos and reports of each day's accomplishments. Our plants were monitored and new plants propagated. We even received gifts from their garden as well as (my favorite) a cutting of Pothos artfully displayed in one of our vases! Our refreshed home and relaxed fur babies made our homecoming not only painless - but very welcoming. They left our house, linens and appliances in pristine condition (not as we had left it) and even relieved some of the visible clutter! Blanca's eye for form and display were apparent throughout the house. Blanca and Mark's care this past week greatly exceeded our expectations and I will definitely be asking for their help in the future. I would give them more stars if possible.”

“We are so grateful for Eleanor! Not only did she help us out with a very last minute booking when our other sitter fell through but we came home to two very happy dogs at the end of the weekend. We received plenty of pictures of them having a great time and getting love. We appreciate her and will definitely book with her again this summer!”

“Abigail was amazing! Gave me such peace of mind knowing my babies were in good hands. She took care of my dog and 2 cats as if they were her own. Happy to know we all made a new friend and will most definitely be contacting her again next time”

“Laurel was great taking care of our babies Ranger and Maddie and even went beyond when our flight was delayed. I would highly recommend Laurel if you want your babies to be loved while you are away. I would definitely hire again when needed.”

About: I've been caring for animals for over 10 years and have always had a passion for pets. I have experience house-sitting, feeding, walking, cleaning up after, and caring for dogs and cats for neighbors, family, and friends. Growing up with pets has taught me that every animal is unique, and I treat each one with the same love, patience, and attention I'd give my own. My goal is to make sure your pet feels safe, happy, and well cared for while you're away. I'm a graduate student completing my degree online while working about 30 hours a week in my internship. Outside of work and school, I spend most of my time with my family, my boyfriend, and at church on Wednesdays and Sundays. My schedule is generally flexible, and I do my best to accommodate pet owners' needs whenever possible. I often spend time accompanying the dogs with snuggles and a couple of hours of playtime a day. I provide food and water for the animals as instructed by the owner as each owner has a different approach. I often take dogs on one or two walks a day because exercise is extremely beneficial for pets.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of August 2026, there are 437 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Volunteer. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Volunteer walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Volunteer maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Volunteer choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Volunteer. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
