About: I’ve had pets my entire life, from guinea pigs and parakeets, to dogs and cats. I volunteered at the local humane society walking dogs and taking care of cats during high school. I’ve done a good amount of pet sitting for family, friends, and neighbors through the years, and having also had to travel for work much of my adult life, appreciate being the pet parent entrusting my fur babies to someone else. I treat other peoples’ pets how I’d hope my pet sitters treat mine, and care for them as I do my own. He is more territorial with larger, very active dogs, so just offering daycare and boarding to smaller dogs at this time, unless it’s a dog he already knows. About: I've raised and trained 3 champion bloodline boxers from puppyhood through every life stage, so I'm very comfortable with high-energy dogs, giant personalities, structured routines, and the occasional stubborn streak. Today I split my time between consulting work and pet care. One unexpected benefit of leaving the traditional corporate tech grind is that I finally have the flexibility to spend more time doing something I've genuinely enjoyed for years—working with dogs. These days I provide structured walks, drop-in visits, daycare, and boarding throughout Ballard. I also care for pets on another pet care platform, where I've worked with everything from energetic puppies and adolescent chaos agents to shy dogs, seniors, and dogs who need a little extra time to build trust. After years of calendars, conference calls, forecasts, and executive meetings, I've discovered I much prefer helping a nervous dog gain confidence on a walk or convincing a puppy that the mystery object they found on the sidewalk is not, in fact, a snack. The dogs are usually easier to negotiate with. Through the canine grapevine, I've also learned that my official title is apparently "The Liver Treat PEZ Dispenser." I've also spent plenty of time on the owner side of pet care. Between work travel, conferences, and long weekends away, I've personally used kennels, daycare facilities, walkers, and sitters. A lot of what I do today comes from building the kind of reliable, communicative pet care experience I always wished I had available for my own dog. My boxer Mabel serves as the unofficial Director of Backyard Operations. Her duties include squirrel surveillance, neighborhood patrol, welcoming dog friends, and eventually collapsing somewhere dramatic after a hard day of absolutely nothing. I know trusting someone new with your pet can feel stressful. My goal is simple: provide calm, structured, reliable care with plenty of communication, photos, and updates along the way so you can feel confident your dog is safe, understood, and having a great time. Pet care fits pretty naturally into my daily routine. Dogs here get lots of attention, outdoor time, backyard breaks, play, naps, and relaxed company throughout the day instead of being left alone for long stretches. I do occasionally step out briefly for errands or appointments, so dogs staying here should be comfortable with short periods alone when needed (generally around 30 minutes to 1 hour max). Weekends around here are usually pretty relaxed — backyard time, toy play, projects around the house, and eventually everybody crashing somewhere around the dog suite afterward. I keep things calm, structured, and low-volume both in my home and when caring for pets in a client’s home. At home, I have a fully fenced backyard with direct outdoor access, high-drainage pet turf, and pavers to help keep things clean, safe, and low-mud. Dogs get supervised outdoor time, backyard play, potty breaks, naps, toy play, and their own clean crate setup for downtime when needed. I’ve taken care of up to 3 dogs at once! I only work part time, so I will have lots of time to hang out with your pets! Previous dogs we've owned before they crossed the rainbow bridge: Bernese Mnt Dog and Malamute CATS: We have been a foster parents for over 5 years and have cared for more than 60 foster cats and kittens. We understand cat behavior, like when they're ready for pets and attention, and when they want to be left alone. Like humans, they need fresh water every day and want a clean bathroom (litter box) just like us. We have been volunteering with a variety of rescue groups for several years including Seattle Animal Shelter, Seattle Persian and Himalayan Rescue Group, The Whole Cat and Kaboodle, and many more. Parents have been Magnolia home owners for over 26 years; UDUB alum and a technology professional who works remotely, usually with my own cat on my lap. I'm sure you've heard the Rover horror stories of sitters backing out last minute with no recourse. You can rest assured a guaranteed booking with us. We can provide afternoon or evening feeding. We are not comfortable administering pills or needle injections. Daily litterbox cleaning and lots of pets and snuggles throughout the day. PET SAFETY: Using caution when entering the home is important to ensure cat(s) don't escape. We also ensure bedroom doors don't accidentally close that might block the cats' access to food or litter box. Happy to bring in mail and packages, too. HOME SECURITY: Packages, newspapers, and door flyers will be brought inside if we see them on your porch when we arrive. We always verify the door is securely locked after we exit.
