Our girls usually don't eat much/if at all when staying with a dog sitter because they get separation anxiety being away from their family but they ate with Margaret which told me everything. Our girls were happy, safe, and comfortable. Margaret's other dog Mochi was a sweet heart too who was patient with our nervous pups. One of our dogs is scared of any dog bigger than her but Mochi gave her space and was gentle during our meet and greet. The pictures I received showed me how relaxed the pups were, which is exactly what they needed. We have definitely found a go-to dog sitter :).”

“My husband and I had planned and booked a 2 week bucket list trip to Peru and were set to leave in 7 weeks. We had arranged our normal pet sitter that we’ve used for years to come and take care of our (almost) 15 year old cat, Mr. Christmas. It was around that time that Mr. Christmas stopped eating. Mr. Christmas had no real health conditions, no meds…and he was declining fast. After extensive testing, imaging, and seeing a specialist, he was diagnosed with either IBD or cancer and was going to need a lot of follow up. He was on multiple oral medications and he still wasn’t eating great. I couldn’t leave him in the house with someone who can only come see him once a day. He needed more support and our normal pet sitter couldn’t provide that for him. I was fully prepared to cancel the trip, but thought I’d go on Rover to see if anyone could match what we were looking for and if anyone would be willing to do what we were asking. We needed three, hour-long visits daily, forcing food at him, weighing him, and administering multiple daily medications. I found Melanie explaining what I was looking for, and I was really impressed that she was up early at 4:30am to message me. Melanie communicated with me each week leading up to our trip. We initially didn’t have a diagnosis and I needed vet clearance to leave him. Melanie asked many questions, and when we finally were told that he was stable enough to leave, she came over to our house with a list of questions to go over with us. He’s got a bit…a lot…of an attitude. She made sure that she didn’t approach him and waited for him to come to her. She was so thoughtful about every detail of their interaction in front of us. My husband and I both felt that even though she is a stranger to us, there was something calming about her and she was very professional. We knew Mr. Christmas would be okay, but I wasn’t expecting him to thrive the way that he did. Melanie never missed a visit. She never asked for anything from me. She communicated with me daily throughout the two weeks. She braved picking him up to put him on the scale multiple times. Mr. Christmas gained weight with Melanie. He wasn’t gaining weight with me at home, but she is just that good. Pictures of Mr. Christmas started with him sleeping alone, and then he got closer and closer to her on the couch. He even started inviting her to watch him in the litter box (I’m mortified), but he only does this with “his people”. Our dog came to visit at home a few days to see Mr. Christmas (they are besties), and Melanie had no problem cuddling our dog while visiting Mr. Christmas. To describe Melanie in one or two words, I would say she is easygoing and pays great attention to detail. She makes everything seem easy and carefree, and my anxiety really appreciated that on this trip. I got home from 15 days away from him, and he is this thick ball of fluffy happiness. He was WELL taken care of. We could have never gone on this trip without Melanie. She is a true gem and I will be referring anyone and everyone I know to her. About: I've been a pet lover since I was a kid. I started with frogs, lizards and snakes, and graduated to cats and dogs. Until I was able to have dogs of my own, I spent over 10 years pet-sitting for friends and family, volunteering in animal shelters, and have even worked in 2 seperate doggy daycares. My MO is always long walks and lots of attention. I have 2 dogs of my own, a cumulative 17 years of pet raising experience. I have experience caring for sick pets and administering medication both orally and subcutaneously. I've had my pups since they were young and would consider them very well trained. If you're looking to work on certain behaviors, I can absolutely work on that during their stay. I have a fenced yard, a safe neighborhood for long walks, and for longer stays, expect your dog to enjoy a nice hike! I mostly work from home, so for daycare your dog(s) would never be alone and would have access to my fully fenced backyard whenever they want. During the week, I can do a long walk during my lunch break, and another after work. Weekends I tend to go hiking, so if your pup enjoys nature, they will for sure have a great time. Due to my variable work schedule, I cannot accommodate recurring appointments. My yard is fully fenced, and I have 2 friendly dogs. Safety is paramount, so dogs would be supervised while in the yard together. If your dog requires a crate, I have both a plastic and soft sided kennel for indoors.

I also have professional and voluntary experience in taking care of both cats and dog, and have worked at multiple different dog boarding and daycare facilities for years before becoming a stylist, along with previous bookings on Rover! About: I've had two dogs as pets, one for 15 years and another lived until 11. I miss the companionship and would love to walk a few dogs in the neighborhood during work breaks. I work full-time locally and would love to break up my day with check-ins or dog walks. My schedule is flexible, allowing me to plan ahead for check-in, play, or for longer walks (up to an hour and a half). I have lived in Olympia since 2013. I am very comfortable working with dogs and have a soft spot for senior dogs or those with special needs. My last dog had degenerative myelopathy and enjoyed modified walks and exercise until the end. My hope is to have a few dogs during my work week to connect with and take care of, ideally up to two hours between 11-4, M-F.
About: We are an active dog loving family in Olympia. We love to get out to Capital Forest on the weekend or run or walk to our local parks. We work from home most days and otherwise work close to home. We work full-time from home 3 days per week and venture into the office a short distance 2 days per week. About: Iv always grown up around animals especially dogs. From a family setting to being just me and my dog in college. I’m a current service member so I have access on JBLM as well. I only have my one pup and getting her a fun friend for a few days is fun for us both. About: I grew up loving and caring for animals. I had dogs, cats, and even parrots growing up. I am certified in Pet First Aid and CPR and have experience pet sitting for various friends and family. I used to volunteer with the Humane Society where I walked dogs and helped work play groups which helped the dogs gain social skills and helped them to get adopted. I currently volunteer with a statewide animal rescue organization doing technical animal rescues which include rescuing dogs, cats, birds, horses, and, on occasion, certain exotic animals. Our most common rescues include dogs that fall down cliffs and horses that are cast in their stalls and can't get up or are otherwise stuck and require assistance getting back up. I love getting to work with all sorts of animals and have learned a lot from the other volunteers which include EMTs, Firefighters, and Veterinarians. I work remotely from home so my schedule is very flexible and I'll have plenty of time to look after your beloved pets! I can easily stop by and check on them at your home as often as you'd like. I also love being outside so going on multiple walks a day would be a joy for me. I have years of experience with dogs and I also had cats growing up too. I do not currently have any pets living with me so your pet with have my undivided love and attention. I am able to maintain any schedules you keep for your pets such as when to feed them and any medications they might need to take. I'm certified in Pet First Aid/CPR and work with animals regularly due to my work in animal rescue so you can rest assured that your furbabies will be in good hands!

Our dogs can be a lot to walk because they are big and prey driven, but Maxwell and Erika were up to the challenge. We came back home to two very tired and happy girls. So happy we found them and hope we can book more walks and sits with them in the future!”
“Maria is especially good at coaxing our dog out on walks when the pup doesn't want to go. We also appreciate that she submits Rover cards for each visit and leaves the house exactly as she found it. We feel so much better about being at work all day knowing Maria is spending time with our dog.”
About: With over 20 years of experience caring for dogs and cats, I offer calm, full-time attention in a quiet home with a large yard and a peaceful resident dog. I’m confident administering medications, as I regularly care for my own pets' health needs. I understand the unique needs of both senior pets and spirited cats, and I’m happy to provide gentle walks, playtime, and lots of affection. Your pet’s comfort and safety are always my top priority. I am currently home all day and available for walks and love. For walks and home visits Tuesday - Friday I am available on a twice daily basis. Sat, Sun, and Monday I am available any time. While I don't offer pet care in my home at this time, I may in the future. We live in a bright spacious apartment near Briggs YMCA

“We wish we had found John and his family sooner! Nicki had a great time staying with them. We received daily updates and photos, and she even got to enjoy walks. For longer stays, we prefer that Nicki is the only dog or that the sitter only has one of their own, since she values her space. That said, for shorter stays, being around multiple dogs is totally fine—she gets to rest and recharge when she returns home. During her stay, she saw one other dog briefly, which was no issue. We would absolutely recommend John and plan to use his services again!”
“Our worried whippets had a wonderful first stay with Margaret! Our girls usually don't eat much/if at all when staying with a dog sitter because they get separation anxiety being away from their family but they ate with Margaret which told me everything. Our girls were happy, safe, and comfortable. Margaret's other dog Mochi was a sweet heart too who was patient with our nervous pups. One of our dogs is scared of any dog bigger than her but Mochi gave her space and was gentle during our meet and greet. The pictures I received showed me how relaxed the pups were, which is exactly what they needed. We have definitely found a go-to dog sitter :).”
