My husband and I have had our one dog(Kota, female) for 6 years now and another dog(Ash, male) for 4 years. I also have 2 outdoor barn kitties and 8 chickens. We have had our dog Kota(English-setter, 11 years old) since she was a puppy and my husband and I decided to adopt Ash(boxer, 6 years old) when he was only 1 year old. He was labeled free and the previous owner could not take care of him, plus he was not trained. He had never experienced grass before so when we first got him his paws would bleed and I got the opportunity to help heal him and hone in to correct his bad behavior skills. Abuse is not a form of training in my mind, I believe any animal can be trained as long as you put the time and effort into them. We live on 2.5 acres so there is a lot of room to play fetch and get lots of exercise. It’s mostly fenced so I am happy to take dogs on leashed walks if preferred. We live in a large house which dogs are welcome in and will get lots of attention from my 3 year old son. We do have a cat (Boba) which is very friendly and stays in her own room at night so dogs have the rest of the house over night.

About: I have always grown up having pets of various kinds including dogs, fish, small frogs, and hermit crabs. I have a special place in my heart for senior dogs because I believe they often get overlooked when they deserve a high quality of life, too. (Last year, my family lost our rescue dog of twelve years.) I have also had the experience of working with farm animals throughout the course of my life through participation in a junior farmer’s program, when I was younger, and then acting as a returning volunteer and frequent visitor ever since.
