“We cannot say enough good things about Sylvia. We were out of town with our schnauzer, Truffle, staying with a sitter who had cared for her before. Unfortunately, Truffle began having a very difficult time. She was unusually anxious, had several accidents in the house, and by the next morning, while we were still three hours from home, we were told that the sitter could no longer keep her for the second night. My husband was preparing to take the train home and miss his dream concert so that we could take care of Truffle. That’s when Sylvia swooped in and absolutely saved the day. On extremely short notice, Sylvia went to pick Truffle up from the original sitter. She found her barking and shaking, which is very unusual for her, and immediately recognized that she was dealing with significant anxiety. Sylvia brought Truffle into her home, treated her like one of her own, and expertly managed to calm her right down. We received no complaints or concerns through the night or the following morning. When we picked Truffle up, she was calm, happy, and seemed completely comfortable with Sylvia. In fact, she looked like she would have been perfectly content staying for another sleepover. Sylvia went far above and beyond for us during an incredibly stressful situation, and we are genuinely grateful for the care, patience, and kindness she showed Truffle. About: Dogs have always been a huge part of my life. I grew up with pets and have owned three wonderful dogs over the years—a Shetland Sheepdog, a Chocolate Labrador Retriever, and my current Terrier mix, Bandit. In addition to caring for my own dogs, I've volunteered with a local dog rescue and fostered dogs, giving me experience with a variety of breeds, ages, personalities, and temperaments. Because I want every pet in my care to receive plenty of attention, I offer boarding in my home on weekends, when I can dedicate my time to walks, playtime, cuddles, and maintaining your dog's normal routine. During the week, I offer drop-in visits for pets who need potty breaks, meals, walks, medication, or companionship while their owners are at work or away. This schedule allows me to provide dependable, attentive care while ensuring every pet gets the time and attention they deserve. My home is very pet-friendly, with a large backyard for play and space to relax. I also have a 5-year-old lab and a young child, so safety is a top priority. I only accept dogs that are gentle and a good fit for a family environment. My goal is simple: to give your pet a safe, calm, and genuinely cared-for place that feels as close to home as possible. I am currently working part-time, so I am home frequently. My roomate and I often work together to care for your pets, so they won't be left alone for long periods of time. My schedule is pretty flexible, so I'm available 24/7 unless I am going out of town. I usually work Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights from 5pm-10pm. I prefer drop offs no earlier than 8am, but I can accommodate if needed. I prefer to do a meet and greet before overnight boarding. I cant always accommodate last minute bookings, but don't hesitate to reach out. I have a large fenced in yard, one very playful 5 year old lab, and a friendly toddler. My dog has free rein of the house and yard. When I am home, I leave the back door open so she can come and go as she pleases. When I leave, I can separate the dogs and crate as needed.

About: I LOVE dogs. I am the go-to for my granddogs- yes, I have granddogs. My granddog, Nina, has emotional issues and can be aggressive, and I am the only one who can stay with her when my son and his family go on vacation. I have always been a dog person, nothing against cats, just that I'm allergic to cat dander. I cannot stand to see animals suffering and as a child my parents had to discourage me from trying to save every creature I saw. My baby Finn is the king of the castle but he's the sweetest most docile love bug in the universe and he loves to share his space and welcome all. You can literally feel the good energy when you walk in the door and Finny is the nucleus of that good energy. I'm retired and home all day. I am in an apartment complex but there is a huge yard right behind my apartment and plenty of space to walk and explore. I am able to do drop in visits, walks, doggy day care, provide love and cuddles per your specific instructions. Fur babies are our kids, at least I feel that way. My baby is my heart and so are my granddogs. The same way I wouldn't want just anyone watching my grandkids and I will make a trip to Pennsylvania JUST to babysit, I also know and understand you don't want just anyone watching your babies.

About: Hi I'm Amber, I'm new here on rover, but definitely not new to caring for animals. I Have 2 dogs that are my children, so your pup will be treated just like my own. I Can administer medication, shots and pill form; as I give my dog a shot every month. I've Worked in a Petcare Boarding facility for 2 years along with working at PetSmart, so I know a thing or 2 about how the boarding process goes. I have Owned dogs and cared for them since I was 4 years old. I’m doing doggy caregiving full time so your babies will get plenty of love and attention. I prioritize safety first for your fur babies. I can accommodate solo play, or group play in my spacious back yard. A meet and greet is highly recommended before bookings. I check for updated shots (rabies Bordetella and distemper). Please be sure to label everything you bring as well. If you would like to Bring your pups bedding, and toys to make them feel at home, I'm here for it. Clothes with your scent are also highly recommended to help your baby deal with stress, ease anxiety, and feel like home. I live in a great area that is about 10 minutes from downtown Norfolk, Virginia Beach, and Chesapeake. I am also 6 minutes and 2.3 miles away from the Norfolk international Airport. I'm currently doing rover full time, so i have a lot of time to play with your pup and give lots of attention and love! I have a house with a quarter acre fenced yard. I have 2 dogs, 1 i will keep separate considering she's approaching senior years and 1 that is a ball of joy, golden retriever puppy that loves to play. About: I have had many pets while growing up including cats and dogs! My current fur baby is a corgi beagle who’s getting older so i do have experience with older dogs. About: I recently got married and moved to the area. I’m a Virginia tech animal science grad. I have worked in a boarding and daycare facility the past 2 years. I also have some dog training experience from college and in the kennel facility. Upon request I can offer training sessions for your pups. I recently moved to the area and still looking for a job that’s a good fit for me. In the meantime your pups will have all my free time! I have plenty of experience working with all types of dogs, including ones that are nervous greeters, food aggressive, barrier reactivity, leash reactivity and more. I understand every dog is different and will always work to make your dog comfortable in any environment. About: I've loved dogs and cats my whole life and I have a good reproir with them. As a Rover sitter, I think it is important to give them lots of love and attention, and to keep them safe. A good sitter always keeps in mind how important people's pets are to them, and should make them feel at ease while they are away, and confident that thier babies are in good hands by communicating with them regularly and meeting all of thier needs. I have many repeating clients, and thier pets have become like family members to me over the years. We are always happy to see each other, but also sad when it's time to leave. My most cherished achievement was when I trained my friend's Dotson (Titus) with a fun snack-training system and prepared him for the dog Olympics tournament in Ohio, in which he came first place. I taught Titus to jump and spin, dance and roll-over and etc by directing his motions with the snack and repeating the commands until the snacks were no longer necessary. I used three brands of treats: Bronze treats (hard food); silver treats (soft dog snacks); and gold treats (a piece of white meat. It took a lot of repetition and patience, but after a couple of months, he became the most clever and talented dog i've ever trained. I also taught him to sing "Walk Like A Man" by The 4 Seasons. I work part-time in the early evening at Bach To Rock, which makes it easy to feed the dogs in the morning and at night. I also get gaps in my teaching schedule which allows me to drop in and take them for a walk or let them out if necessary. I also substitute teach which allows me to make my own schedule and that makes it easier for me to spend plenty of time taking care of people's pets when I have bookings. My other job is very close by so commuting is convenient as well. The safety and well-being of the pets is my top priority. Their emotional well-being is important too. Dogs get anxious and even depressed when their owners leave so it's my job to keep them comfortable and entertained. When I'm staying at a client's house, I make sure to keep doors shut and stay mindful when going in and out so they don't run out or get into anything they're not supposed to. I always make sure to ask about the layout of the house and the backyard, so they cant run off. When I'm walking them, I avoid stopping and talking with other people who are walking their pets, and I always make sure I know how their leash or harness goes on so they don't slip out of it. And then if they take meds, I set an alarm on my phone with a reminder note.
About: I have pet sat many times through my life, including puppies. I am very familiar with the puppy stage and how little sleep you get 🫣😴🥵 I have owned cats for the last ten years, including fosters. One of them was a geriatric cat, so I am familiar with administering meds to the most difficult of cats. About: I am my neighborhood's resident dog lover and have known every dog in the neighborhood by name since I can remember! In 2020, I finally got my own two dogs, Teddy and Lily, and started house sitting and dog walking for other dogs in the neighborhood. I have never loved anyone more than my dogs, and I feel the same way about all of the other dogs I care for. I would be delighted to give your dog my full love and attention when you are away! I have a very flexible work from home schedule, so your dog would be my first priority! I rarely leave the house when I am dog sitting. I am experienced with walking dogs both on leash and off leash, depending on the needs of the dog and the environment. I am used to spending virtually all day at my clients' homes and only leave for very short periods of time.

Friends and family have always used me as their go to person that they trust with their animals. I also have a cat of my own, so I’m very comfortable caring for both dogs and cats and understand their different personalities. I work at a local bakery full time from 7am to 3pm, so I’m regularly available in the afternoons, evenings, and all day Mondays and Tuesdays. About: I have experience with senior dogs, so I am comfortable with slow walks and can recognize signs of discomfort. I am extremely patient and understanding when it comes to senior dogs and their specific routines, whether they need extra breaks or gentle guidance. Puppies are absolutely no problem either! I truly love spending time with dogs of all ages and will treat yours with the same care and attention I give my own. Since I am on summer break from UMW, my schedule is very flexible. I can accommodate mid-day walks, early morning check-ins, or overnight house sitting to ensure your pet never feels lonely Every pet's safety is my top priority. Because I care for a senior dog myself, I am naturally observant of heavy panting and signs of discomfort, especially in the summer heat. I am just as vigilant with puppies, ensuring they don't pick up anything harmful on our walks and staying consistent on their routines as well. About: I am a very caring and compassionate person. I love animals of all kinds. I personally have a 14 year old cat named Chubb's and I have had him since I was 5. I also pet sit for family members on a regular basis. I am a college student just trying to earn a little extra money where I can so my schedule is pretty much open. I take weekend classes online so if needed I could also work on weekends with 2 days notice. My week days are pretty much free and my schedule is very flexible! I care for all pets as if they were my own making sure that they are comfortable and loved.I stick to their normal routines and give them plenty of playtime and cuddles.My goal is to make sure that your pup feels cared for and happy until you are back.

“We cannot say enough good things about Sylvia. We were out of town with our schnauzer, Truffle, staying with a sitter who had cared for her before. Unfortunately, Truffle began having a very difficult time. She was unusually anxious, had several accidents in the house, and by the next morning, while we were still three hours from home, we were told that the sitter could no longer keep her for the second night. My husband was preparing to take the train home and miss his dream concert so that we could take care of Truffle. That’s when Sylvia swooped in and absolutely saved the day. On extremely short notice, Sylvia went to pick Truffle up from the original sitter. She found her barking and shaking, which is very unusual for her, and immediately recognized that she was dealing with significant anxiety. Sylvia brought Truffle into her home, treated her like one of her own, and expertly managed to calm her right down. We received no complaints or concerns through the night or the following morning. When we picked Truffle up, she was calm, happy, and seemed completely comfortable with Sylvia. In fact, she looked like she would have been perfectly content staying for another sleepover. Sylvia went far above and beyond for us during an incredibly stressful situation, and we are genuinely grateful for the care, patience, and kindness she showed Truffle. We would strongly recommend her to anyone looking for someone they can trust with their fur baby.”
