“Five stars are not enough. We recently visited Charlottesville from Atlanta to see our UVA student son and participate in the Charlottesville Marathon with him. We usually travel with Dexter, our very active golden retriever, but were not sure what to do with him before and during the race with such an early start. We were so very fortunate to find Heather, her wonderful family, and their amazing place here on Rover. We dropped Dexter off the afternoon before the race and picked him up the next day after the race. Communication with Heather was perfect during the booking process, leading up to drop off, during the stay--with great updates and photos, as well as on our way for a delayed pickup due to race traffic issues. Dexter easily settled with Heather and her family, and he got plenty of exercise. Dexter actually has a collar that tracks his steps and Dexter hit a new record during his stay that was nearly 3x his daily average (and remember we said Dexter is very active). Dexter was so welcomed and well cared for, when we arrived to pick him up he was happy to see us, but he honestly didn't seem very excited or wanting to leave, and knowing Dexter that speaks volumes. I almost felt bad reclaiming Dexter. It was a short visit for a long trip and weekend, but we left Charlottesville feeling very blessed and humbled by Heather and her family's hospitality. We are already looking forward to our next Charlottesville trip when Dexter can visit the farm again.”

About: I’ve always had animals in my younger life from cats to dogs, and even though I only have a cat I continue to love dogs. My current housing situation allows me to share dog sitting and caring of his clients dogs (ages 9 months to 14 years) for the last ten years. Since then I have asked my neighbors for tending to the needs of their dogs be it from a 5 mile walk on and off leash to a 100 yard potty break in addition to giving medications. I’m currently working part time three days a week and an occasional Saturday, so I have the time to care and interact for your furry friend. I live in a neighborhood with easy access to the Rivanna trails and a road trip access to a farm with woods in Earlysville for running in fields. I also have a very tolerant cat who actually enjoys dogs staying with me because she’s learned that visiting dogs often get a treat she’s earned one too. My house has hardwood floors on the first floor throughout access to the carpeted lower level is through a door. The dog would have free range of the house while we were at home and unless he/she is accustomed to be crated.

About: I’ve owned many dogs over my lifetime. From a Min Pin to Collies, Retrievers and Pointers. I have taken care of friends and relatives animals while they were out of town. I have done long time sits (several weeks) to daily drop ins. I’m retired so I have lots of time to care for your pets. I love taking walks and getting to know each animal whether it’s to come hang out and play, feed etc or take for long or short walks. I don’t have any dogs or cats living with me now due to my landlord not allowing pet ownership. They don’t mind if I bring a dog here for short periods.

About: I’ve been walking dogs and doing check ins for family pets since middle school! I am currently a pre-vet student at JMU, but I spend my summers home in Earlysville. I would say this has been a “serious” job of mine since I started highschool. I’ve spent a few days a week for the past few summers pet sitting. I’m new to the app because I’ve been so lucky to have a lot of regular clients, and was then recommended to their friends. I’m just trying to expand my client pool as much as possible:) I have 3 dogs of my own, and one of them lives with me in my college apartment. I’ve had dogs all my life, but I also currently shadow at a vets office, work with the animal health team at the RHSPCA, and volunteer at the VA wildlife center. I absolutely love all animals and would be thrilled to meet new furry friends! I will be shadowing at the vet 3 days a week, but only until 1pm. On those days I am free in the afternoon to check on your pets! Most weekends, along with days I am not doing that, I can set aside time to come see your pets:) I will readily follow whatever instructions you may have. I am used to taking dogs on walks, but also fine with just letting them out in your yard and chilling on the couch. Whatever you and your pet need, I’m sure we can make it work:)

She has since gotten older so I have experience with a senior dog and giving any sorts of medication (and the peanut butter necessary to get her to take it). About: Hi! My name is Riley and I'm a 21-year-old nursing student originally from South Carolina. Animals have always been a huge part of my life. I grew up on a farm raising and caring for different animals, so caretaking has always come naturally to me. As of now, I have 4 dogs back at home and 1 dog currently residing with me. About: I’ve always had animals in my younger life from cats to dogs, and even though I only have a cat I continue to love dogs. My current housing situation allows me to share dog sitting and caring of his clients dogs (ages 9 months to 14 years) for the last ten years. Since then I have asked my neighbors for tending to the needs of their dogs be it from a 5 mile walk on and off leash to a 100 yard potty break in addition to giving medications. I’m currently working part time three days a week and an occasional Saturday, so I have the time to care and interact for your furry friend. I live in a neighborhood with easy access to the Rivanna trails and a road trip access to a farm with woods in Earlysville for running in fields. I also have a very tolerant cat who actually enjoys dogs staying with me because she’s learned that visiting dogs often get a treat she’s earned one too. My house has hardwood floors on the first floor throughout access to the carpeted lower level is through a door. The dog would have free range of the house while we were at home and unless he/she is accustomed to be crated.

“Alexandra and Logan were wonderful with my (sometimes overly) curious terrier, Eddie! I am always concerned about Eddie escaping to chase an animal, and they took my concerns seriously and took steps to ensure that wouldn't happen. Their fence setup was great too - the fenced-in yard wraps all the way around the house, so even if a dog slipped out of the house, they would still be in the yard. On top of that, they sent lots of pictures and were so kind to Eddie. He didn't want to leave!”
