About: I grew up with dogs and once I started my own family, over the years we welcomed three dogs and two cats into the mix. With my kids having flown the coop, I have time, energy, and lots of love to give! For three weeks in July, I will be living at our home in Columbus, Oh and be available for drop-in visits and dog walks. Eventually, we will be living here full time and I would love to have some Ohio puppy friends:-) During the school year, we live in Alexandria, VA and I coach a variety of sports throughout the school year which keeps me busy later in the early afternoon and early evenings for a few hours during the week. Caring for my pitbull for 13 years and my cat for 8 years, immediately after that, I understand deep, loyal love. What sets me apart is my calm, intuitive energy. About: Being a senior makes me old school, like being exactly on time or a bit early. I subscribe to the Dog Whisperer tenet of being ALPHA and pack leader to dogs in my care. A dog in a pack is a happy dog. I only use positive reinforcement. Ex.: dog pulling on the leash can be fixed by changing directions every 4 steps to the left, walking in a square, this encourages the dog to slow down and watch his human. Dog hair is a welcome addition to a life well lived, that's why my dogs get furniture and bed privileges. One fact about my dogs i pay attention to is how many sips of water they take. On a very hot day I've seen 30-40. This helps me know easily how my pet is feeling so I can react accordingly. Maybe time to put the soft Frisbee away! I'm fully retired, and rise early, so morning walks are easy. Breakfast is next, and 1hr later another walk outside. I like to prep a bag to take to the park. My fav is Schiller Park in German Village. I don't own a pet currently, I've had some health issues that are now resolved. Having been an owner twice in my life has given me many many experiences so I am flexible.

About: I am a dog mom, cat mom and a part time MBA student. My two cats are very well socialized with dogs, and my puppy Suki is absolutely obsessed with other dogs. We live in an apartment in downtown Columbus with plenty of space for a small dog guest. There are small grass patches in my apartment where I can take a dog to potty, they would need to be leashed the entire time. In my spare time, I like to spend time outside walking the scioto mile, and I like to paint. My current daily routine is flexible so I would be able to provide any care necessary. I used to have a senior dog that required a lot of TLC, and now I have a 4 pound puppy with a fast metabolism that also requires TLC for other reasons. suki is partially potty trained, but we do use indoor pads and a live grass patch. It’s OK if your dog is small and pad trained, I have plenty of cleaning supplies to take care of any accidents. I take safety very seriously for all pets. My cat takes a consistent medication every night at 9 PM and we haven’t missed it for the past four years. Also small dogs take a special amount of attention to keep safe.
About: I adopted a hound mix from the shelter who was so afraid of the world and has become the most well-adjusted, friendly boy in the world! I also adopted a stray dog in December who has already grown leaps and bounds! About: I've taken care of many kinds of dogs and have always had one in my family home. I've taken care of big and small, old gentle dogs and crazy little puppies. I've had a lab and currently have a pitbull. They've all been very playful so I'm used to and don't minding jumping, barking and licking.
