“In November my previous Rover pet-sitter found full-time employment so I needed to find a new sitter for my amazing cat Huckleberry and quickly because my husband and I would be traveling over Christmas week. This was not something I had seen before as cats typically seem to be an afterthought or at least second to dogs in most pet-sitters bios. About: I grew up in a home that always had multiple animals. Whether it was cats, dogs, fish, snakes and plenty more I was always taking care of different animals. Now as I’ve grown older the love for animals has not stopped. Dogs are really the best companions and can understand you more than some humans. The love I have for animals is truly the same love I have for family members. I’ll always make sure they are being well taken care of, fed, running freely or on walks, playing and always loved! Your dog will be treated like my own! My work schedule varies quite a bit, I may need to go into work sometimes & in that case my mother is typically home anyway. About: I didn’t get to experience the joy of growing up with dogs or cats but as soon as I was able I began taking in fosters from the NYC shelter system. It was quite a learning experience spending time with many dogs (and a few cats) of all different types and personalities. I no longer foster but I bring the experience and dedication from working with so many shelter pets to caring for your furry family members. And as a pet parent now myself I have been through many sitters so I understand what makes a good one! A note on boarding and meet and greets: I’m happy to have boarding candidates come by to meet me and check out the space but I do not do meet and greets with my own dogs. My dogs are dog friendly but they are too chaotic and excitable to meet new dogs and owners right away. New dogs are kept separate at first and introduced at their own pace when everyone is calm. This minimizes stress for everyone and allows for better interactions. I currently work out of the house Monday/Wednesday/Friday but my schedule is somewhat flexible. The rest of the week I work at home and I am often available all weekend. Dogs in my home have access to a securely fenced large yard for running and fetch, as well as a quiet neighborhood for walks. If the weather is warm dogs have access to a dog door so they may go outside as they please. If your dog likes to play with other dogs mine will certainly be happy to accommodate but they can also have separate spaces if quiet time is needed. In your home I will make every effort to keep your pets schedule as familiar as possible while offering lots of love and stimulation. As someone who has had many sitters come through and stay at my house I understand the importance of trust and cleanliness so you can be away without worry.

About: Hello! I’m a professional writer who works from home and often watches my neighbors’ dogs just because I think it’s fun. I joined Rover to help others who might need last-minute dog sitting. My own golden retriever Emmett chills with me all day and we go for walks around the block at lunchtime and we’d love for your friend to join us! I host one dog at a time (in addition to Emmett). I’ve been around dogs and pets of all kinds my whole life and am happy to just spend some quality time feeding, patting, walking or running with a good pooch. I’m super comfortable with all breeds, just maybe not strong enough to handle anyone over 100 pounds unless they’re super well trained. I’ve seen Emmett and my previous dogs, Henry and Teddy, through all kinds of ear infections, hot spots, and geriatric arthritis treatments and am really good at finding ticks! My brother has Emmett’s brother, Gary, so you’ll see the two of them in a few pics together. I’m a remote freelance writer so my schedule is very flexible. I walk Emmett every day at least three times a day so it’s really easy to add an additional dog to the mix. I’m home all day so we all hang. Our yard is unfortunately not fenced but because I spend a lot of time at my computer I balance that with a lot of midday dog walks. When your pet stays here it’s very chill; as long as your dog gets along with Emmett they’ll have full range of the house and can snooze wherever and then we’ll go walk about around the block a few times, which nets out to be about a mile.

We are active and would love to get your dog exercise and nature time! We have been pet sitting for 6 years and have lots of experience with large energetic dogs! Meredith is also available for dog walking! Our dog Sammy is a neutered 12 year old male. He is sweet as can be and either a total couch potato or pulling on a hike, no in-between. He gets along with every dog he’s met and we are very experienced at managing him with other dogs! The mutual benefits of animal care are no joke! As an avid traveler and travel writer (we social workers need periodic breaks from our big jobs), pet sitting has been a fabulous win-win-for-all! I love immersing in local scenes, and enjoy getting to know the nature, infrastructure, and pulse of new places. Perhaps most importantly, I love hunkering down for writing (I am a published writer in addition to being a social worker) with the delightful energy of furry friends beside me. They seem to like it too! I grew up in a small city, have lived in a major city for over two decades and LOVE being in more rural and remote areas too. You can count on me to bring my strong sense of professionalism and responsibility to your pets and to your home. I’ve often been told that other than happy pets, there was no sign I had even been there! I am currently freelancing/focusing my time on writing projects so I often have a flexible schedule....and love taking work breaks with furry friends! A veteran 5-start pet-sitter, I am new to Rover and am figuring out how the calendar and geography works so it can reflect where I am and when I'm available. Most folks comment that they can barely tell I've been there. Cleanliness, respect, and loving care are my hallmarks. I make sure to honor any requests and instructions for people's homes, which often have quirks and special needs -- and to of course respect privacy too, just as I would as a social worker. As for furry friends, they get exceptional, reliable, patient, playful, caring energy from me while I make sure that all their food, litter, or other needs are met.
About: I took animal science at port ewen boces throughout my junior and senior year of highschool. I've learned pet care, restraints, handling and grooming. I've always had a love for animals especially dogs! Pet care fits into my daily routine because i have three dogs at home that i walk and feed everyday. day. I am very comfortable with feeding schedules, walks, exercise, and making sure pets feel safe and comfortable while their owners are away. I am confident handling both small and large dogs and understand the importance of patience, consistency, and proper control when working with them. 🐾 When caring for pets, I always make safety a priority. I make sure dogs are either on a leash or in a secure fenced area and never left to wander off alone. I also pay attention to foods and situations that could be harmful to pets so they stay healthy and safe. 🐶🐱💕

Mildred and her family treated my dog as one of their own for the few days that he was there and when I picked him up, I felt like I was part of the family as well. I can tell that my dog made new friends so even if I don't need to board him overnight again, I know that I can drop him off to hang out with his new friends. “Andrea is a beautiful, intelligent and compassionate professional. She cares about the animals she looks after while 'pet parents' are away. She reduces anxieties naturally by listening carefully and observing astutely. Hygge had never been away or 'boarded' for pet sitting prior to my experience with Andrea. At all times she was communicative, caring and purposeful in her interactions with Hygge, who probably worried about being in a new home away from home for a few days on many levels. My transportation plans were delayed due to a severe storm that prevented my scheduled pick up, and Andrea was patient, reasonable and loving during my own stress about being stuck in NYC beyond my control for the pick up of my dog after traveling for a few days. She worked with me every step of the way, and the boarding experience was a total success even with transportation issues. Hygge returned home happy, healthy, well-nourished and satisfied with renewed confidence in his ability to work with another lovely family in our sweet community in a spirit of trust and sucess. All in all, I would recommend Andrea to work with anyone who has pets they love and want to broaden the scope of their pet's world by allowing Andrea to work with them and care for them.
