About: I have taken care of dogs for most of my adult life. My wife and I have made a point to adopt large older dogs that tend to be stuck in the shelter system. All dogs are good and deserve to live a fun filled, happy, and loved life. I am also recently pet CPR and first aid certified by The American Red Cross. Im currently working part time three nights during the week so I have plenty of free time to take care of your pups. Having recently lost our beloved Mastiff, I've been craving some pup time. We had out-of-town guests coming for a visit and our plans were solidified; our usual sitter had an unexpected engagement, leaving us scrambling to find someone to watch our rescue beagle, Sherlock. Our poor pup had a very rough start and has severe separation anxiety, and since we summer in our condo in Highlands, he cannot be left alone, or he will howl incessantly with his unnerving high shriek of terror (poor boy). We searched on Rover for days, and then we found Sarah. She responded quickly to our inquiry. Yay! I am already planning our next extended outing, due to the diligence, care, professionalism and security Sarah provided. About: As a shelter volunteer I have cared for and socialized many cats, in addition to taking on 2 medial fosters, a cat that was hit by a car and a kitten that needed care after a leg amputation, both recovered and did find their forever homes. We recently lost our coon/calico girl who thought she was a dog and we have our rescued sweet senior black cat named Riley. About: I am a dog mom of 2 awesome dogs. I had a dog that passed away last year who was paralyzed and had required special care for 7 years until she passed away at 13 years old. My pets are my family and I would treat your fur babies the same way. I also have 2 cats who are equally awesome. I am 59 and have had many kinds of breeds in my life that have required special types of care. I have been doing pet care for many years and it’s undoubtedly the most enjoyable job because I get to visit and play with your animals. What can be better than that! I raised my beloved Border Collie, Zoey (see Gallery), from puppyhood through adulthood. He loves other dogs, is up to date on his core vaccines, and is currently unneutered. Because of him, I have firsthand experience with the unique care that long-bodied breeds require, including proper handling techniques and back protection. I’ve also cared for dogs of all sizes and temperaments. I am American Red Cross Certified in Dog First Aid 🐾 and have experience caring for medical dogs who require a little extra attention. My prior Border Collie, Zoey, was dog-reactive and medically disabled (she was completely blind in one eye), so I understand the importance of patience, consistency, and adapting care to a dog’s individual needs. ⸻ I am home throughout the day and will provide plenty of supervision, attention, potty breaks, playtime, and companionship for your pup. The house sits on a fairly quiet street in close proximity to the Belford Ferry, making it especially convenient for NYC commuters. *********** For clients interested in doggy daycare or boarding, dogs will enjoy a securely fenced backyard for supervised potty breaks, interactive play sessions, and an indoor doggy playpen to explore that is located on the main living level of the home (see Gallery). The playpen is stocked with a rotating assortment of toys and enrichment activities for your pup to enjoy, and dogs also have access to the adjacent hardwood-floor living area. *********** To help keep all of our furry friends healthy and safe, proof of core vaccinations is required (except for young puppies), and all dogs must be on a flea and tick preventative. Clients are welcome to bring a crate, favorite bed, blanket, or other comfort items from home. Baby gates are installed on the stairs for added safety, and walks may be added to daycare or boarding services for an additional fee. *********** At this time, I accept one client (which can include multiple dogs) at a time, though multiple same-day clients can work if all parties are in agreement. This allows me to provide individualized attention, maintain a calm, low-stress environment, and tailor my care to each dog’s unique needs. I closely supervise all dog interactions, and my home has multiple gated/partitioned areas that allow dogs to have their own space and be separated when needed. Moose also has a dedicated separate space for meals, naps, etc. At night, your pup will have the playpen all to themselves for a peaceful night’s sleep (or a crate if you prefer). The playpen is also monitored with a baby monitor for an extra layer of safety. ⸻ My goal is to make drop-off as simple and stress-free as possible. If you’d prefer to simply drop off your pup, I’ve got the essentials covered!
