About: Although I didn’t grow up with cats due to my dad’s allergies, I’ve always loved them. I was constantly seeking out my friends’ and neighbors’ cats and regularly helped cat‑sit whenever I had the chance. About: Longtime dog lover and owner, current parent of a 9-year-old Siberian Husky service dog whom I trained to myself. I love dogs of all sizes and shapes and personalities and I can't wait to meet all the wonderful furkids that I'll be looking after in the future. I'm always telling people "I may have trouble remembering your name, but I will always remember your pet's name." Though I am small in stature I'm actually quite strong and can handle large/muscular dogs (and the occasional feral cat when necessary), because I just know how to move with them/guide them. I'm also not intimidated by aggressive behavior in animals, nor do I meet it with aggression in return. I always try to calm the animal and figure out the issue, putting myself between them and anyone/anything that might upset them further. I have a personality/presence that dogs seem to love, from the timid to the social, the calm to the active. I'm a fast walker, so your dog will certainly get a workout they'll love as they keep pace with me, but I can also meander when needed for the older dogs and fumbling puppies. I have experience doing basic grooming for dogs: bathing, brushing, shaving away mats, clipping nails, trimming the fur between pawpads, brushing teeth, and cleaning ears. I do not have experience doing "style" cuts for dogs. I know snake pet care as well, so feel free to inquire if you need someone to look after your danger noodle! Pet care is my primary work focus right now as I work through completing my online schooling towards getting my degree and Vet Tech licence. I have a backyard for your dog to play in alongside my very friendly Husky. It's not fenced in, but I keep a spare long-lead on-hand, same kind as I use for my girl, for guest dogs. If your dog is an especially strong one please let me know and I'll make sure to have an lead appropriate for your dogs weight strength available. Inside the house is dog-friendly and spacious, and I can crate your dog if needed. My dog is allowed on the couch and my bed, so do let me know if those are no-go areas for your dog. If your cat likes outside time I can provide walks and/or put them out in the backyard on the spare long-lead.

With dogs, I have more of the proper pet-sitting experience. That has really ramped up in the last year, since we moved to Portland and into an apartment that is pet-friendly. For example, one dog tends to have a much better, more peaceful day if I get him out to the woods for a run/walk in the morning before work (who wouldn't!) Another loves to cuddle, so we put a blanket on the couch so that she can snuggle while we watch TV at night with constant pets. Another is whip-smart, so I try to make sure we do extra enrichment/play time. With all animals, I try to go above and beyond and see them as individuals with distinct personalities and needs. :) I am a work-from-home journalist who would absolutely love some company, playtime, cuddles, and more reasons to get outside during the day. Sadly, I travel too much right now to adopt a pet of my own. I would very much appreciate the opportunity to bond with and share my space with an animal! My work schedule is incredibly flexible, but in general I am home all day, with some sort of exercise in the morning that I would be happy to make part of the pet sitting experience, a remote work day wherein I have a lot of freedom to take breaks. I also have a small porch, a medium-sized fenced yard, a larger non-fenced yard, and a beautiful suburban area to walk with nearby parks. About: I am a pre-vet college student looking to spend some time taking care of people's furry friends this summer. I have basic animal first aid training, I am pretty well versed in senior care in cats (having had a few of my own), and I LOVE working with/training puppies and young dogs. For example, one dog tends to have a much better, more peaceful day if I get him out to the woods for a run/walk in the morning before work (who wouldn't!) Another loves to cuddle, so we put a blanket on the couch so that she can snuggle while we watch TV at night with constant pets. Another is whip-smart, so I try to make sure we do extra enrichment/play time. With all animals, I try to go above and beyond and see them as individuals with distinct personalities and needs. :) I am a work-from-home journalist who would absolutely love some company, playtime, cuddles, and more reasons to get outside during the day. Sadly, I travel too much right now to adopt a pet of my own. I would very much appreciate the opportunity to bond with and share my space with an animal! My work schedule is incredibly flexible, but in general I am home all day, with some sort of exercise in the morning that I would be happy to make part of the pet sitting experience, a remote work day wherein I have a lot of freedom to take breaks. I also have a small porch, a medium-sized fenced yard, a larger non-fenced yard, and a beautiful suburban area to walk with nearby parks. I am often away from home for a few hours in the evening, but I am flexible and happy to stay home with an animal if necessary. Flexibility is the name of the game! We live in a very safe area, in a pet-friendly home. It is just my partner and I, two young professionals, in an apartment that regularly hosts animals for boarding. As a previous long-time pet owner and sitter, I am aware of the best practices regarding animal safety (depending on the animal). I prioritize comfort and respect with animals. I think of animals as a member of the family, and will care for their interest and safety as I would a child who was in my care.

I keep doors, gates, and leashes secure, maintain a clean environment, and leave the home as I found it. My goal is for pets to feel calm, safe, and cared for in their familiar environment.
