I grew up with a cat who was much more than a pet—because I didn’t have any brothers or sisters, she was my best friend and constant companion. About: I love animals with my whole heart. I’ve had a sweet dog of my own for the past 10 years whom is truly my best friend. Other than my own, I’ve taken care of pets for friends & family for as long as I can remember. My relationship with animals on a whole is a special one for I respect them & am interested in what their behavior is trying to convey to us humans. I have previous volunteer experience at Antler Ridge Wildlife sanctuary in NJ, as well as previous experience in a VCA animal hospital as a tech assistant. I’m responsible, dependable, & very compassionate. I have a deep love for animals & aspire to one day have a nonprofit animal rescue. If your animal is with me, I will treat them with kindness. I know what it’s like to have to work long days away from our furry family members, personally it stresses me out. I would love to be able to ease that feeling of worry or guilt for you & be there to give your dog or cat some love! My schedule at the moment is a little all over the place. Typically every other week I have time off & can offer daily walks, & drop ins. Weekends I can typically do walks & drop ins as well. Mornings, afternoons, & evenings work when I have time off. I don’t have a fenced in yard & don’t plan to board your animals at my home. But when they are in my care at your home or on a walk I will make sure they are always safe. I’ll always check in with you before caring for your animal to see what sorts of situations may be stressful for them/ what their personal restrictions are. If anything ever seems off with your pet when I see them I will notify you immediately. Clear communication is key for safety!

About: In 2016, my cat Rey showed up on my windowsill the morning of my birthday. Since then, we have been through many apartments, houses, and experiences together, including her cancer diagnosis last summer. She has taught me everything I know about cat care, behavior, and medication! I have mastered pill plungers and liquid medications now. Cats can be mysterious, hilarious, and extremely opinionated. About: I'm a lifelong dog owner and have enjoyed the experience of teaching my daughters the joys and responsibilities of caring for our dogs. As lead parent, I've been passionate about opting for daily outdoor adventures with my daughters and dogs and have often heard, "Boy, you have your hands full!", to which I have always replied, "I need to keep everybody happy somehow." About: I grew up dogs from the time I was little- labs, retrievers, shepherds- and had a special needs rescue dog with my partner for many years who lived to be fifteen. When she passed, my partner and I started boarding and house sitting regularly and have built up a pretty cute little pack. I am comfortable giving oral medication and upholding your dog’s schedule, house rules, and love to take field trips whenever possible. My favorite is when a dog can come with me everywhere, so smaller senior pups have become my specialty, but I can’t help but love all the dogs who come along. As a videographer and Maine youth basketball coach I have a lot of flexibility in my work schedule and spend a lot of time working from home editing videos. I’m fairly active, always happy to take breaks from work to walk around the neighborhood or find a pet-friendly beach to run around on. I’m in an apartment very close to Deering Oaks Park and the Western Prom. The apartment is a compact second story walk up and has been carefully maintained to keep it safe for curious noses.

About: Hi my name is Maria and I am an avid animal lover. I have an 80 pound lab right now, and have had several well loved cats in the past. I enjoy walking pets, giving them lots of cuddles and treats for good behavior, and lots of pets! I am a school nurse by trade, so I am available during the week after 3pm. About: I’ve taken care of dogs and cats of family and friends since I was in my teens, but more extensively in college and since. For 3 years I boarded and sat for three different family friends. I’ve personally helped raise 3 dogs and 2 cats. I’ve even helped herd sheep and tamed alpacas! I work nearly full-time as a server at a restaurant, so Wednesday to Saturday night I’m unavailable for somewhere between 6-9 hours on those days. When I have my off days I’m usually at home or out for a walk. I’m usually efficient with my errands and have extensive free time on off days. My apartment is a one bedroom, so if I’m not playing around the apartment with the pet, I’d want to bring them on a walk or to the park. I have a very comfortable bedroom conducive to nap time, and I live in the heart of Old Port. Whenever I am with pets in my house I am always looking to set up a cozy space for them to relax with blankets, pillows, their favorite toys. I try to make them feel like a proper guest in my home like anyone else. My apartment is always very quiet despite being downtown, but I would hope to find activities we could do in and around Portland to help keep them active and entertained.

About: I am a true animal lover. I’ve had dogs my whole life, but also lived with cats, medium dogs, even the largest dogs (I used to have a St. Bernard so I’ve seen it all.) I’m hoping to get some extra walkies in with new fur friends here and there. Or maybe check up on your fur baby while you’re at work or out of town. I treat all animals like my own and will respect them just like I do with my own sensitive girl. I have to give my dog her oral meds on a strict schedule every day and check her for side effects throughout the day, such as bruising, thirst, blood in the stool… I monitor her daily for all of this as well as giving her outside time every couple of hours to run, play ball or tug-of-war, and then end of day walkies. I definitely have her built into my every day routine. I plan my weeks around her appointments and pill times. My top most consideration is always what does my pet need and what do they expect of me for their unique day-to-day? Do they like to snuggle or do they want to run outside? I like to consider what the specific pet needs out of me and accommodate. My girl is very anxious and high energy so she needs lots of running time, but she also loves her night time cuddles before bed. I will care for pets the way they need me and that’s on their terms because they’re all different.

About: Have had a wonderful cockapoo for nearly 6 years. I have perfected my art of walking and if schedules align would love to bring your dog along too! Usually available before 7am then 930-3pm and again in the late evening if needed. Caring for my own dog and family and when possible your dog, too! I have a very dog friendly home for my dog. I use a leash in my own yard for my dog. If working in another persons home I would respect their rules and expectations on caring for their dog.

About: I’ve taken care of dogs and cats of family and friends since I was in my teens, but more extensively in college and since. For 3 years I boarded and sat for three different family friends. I’ve personally helped raise 3 dogs and 2 cats. I’ve even helped herd sheep and tamed alpacas! I work nearly full-time as a server at a restaurant, so Wednesday to Saturday night I’m unavailable for somewhere between 6-9 hours on those days. When I have my off days I’m usually at home or out for a walk. I’m usually efficient with my errands and have extensive free time on off days. My apartment is a one bedroom, so if I’m not playing around the apartment with the pet, I’d want to bring them on a walk or to the park. I have a very comfortable bedroom conducive to nap time, and I live in the heart of Old Port. Whenever I am with pets in my house I am always looking to set up a cozy space for them to relax with blankets, pillows, their favorite toys. I try to make them feel like a proper guest in my home like anyone else. My apartment is always very quiet despite being downtown, but I would hope to find activities we could do in and around Portland to help keep them active and entertained.

“Carmen and her sweet family are AMAZING!!! I booked two last minute boarding stays for my dog Dolly within the same week and she was incredibly accommodating to these last minute requests. I loved all the updates and pictures of Dolly and even more importantly Dolly was SO well cared for and loved. When we returned for the second stay Dolly was so excited to be back which gave me so much peace of mind. Dolly has spent very little time away especially overnight but I will trust Carmen going forward to care for Dolly in a heart beat. I am grateful to have found a safe and loving home for my girl while I'm away!!! Your dog will feel right at home ☺️”
