About: Hi! I’m Geni, and cats are basically my whole thing. A lot of sitters here are more dog-focused, but I’ve loved cats my whole life and that’s where my real experience is. Whether it’s a hyper kitten or a grumpy old senior, I get that cats do best with their normal routine, some patience, and not being pushed into attention they don’t want. I grew up with cats and volunteered at a shelter for a while, so I’ve gotten pretty good at reading their body language. Like knowing when a shy cat just wants me nearby (not bothering them), vs. when a more outgoing one is dying for playtime. For drop-ins I cover the basics: fresh food and water, a properly cleaned litter box, and some real one-on-one time, whether that’s play or just chin scratches. I’m also careful about home security (doors locked, nothing left open), and I’ll send you plenty of photo updates so you know everything’s good while you’re away (plus you get some cute cat pics out of it, bonus for you). I have a ton of flexibility this summer before my full-time corporate job starts up in the fall. Since I'm new to the area and don't have a rigid daily schedule yet, I'm pretty much wide open for morning, afternoon, or evening drop-ins. This makes it super easy for me to stick to your cat's exact feeding or routine times without having to rush through the visit. When I’m doing drop-ins, keeping your cat safe and your home secure is a big deal to me. I’m careful about locking up, setting alarms if you have them, and watching out for sneaky door-darters when I’m coming and going (cats have a sixth sense for open doors, I swear). I’ll stick to whatever instructions you give me, exact food measurements, favorite hiding spots to check on, all of it. And before I head out I always do one more walkthrough, just to double check everything’s locked up and your kitty’s safe and accounted for.

About: I have experience with all kinds of dogs! My own 2 dogs come from very different places. Belle (3 yo, mixed breed) is a medium-sized rescue dog from the island of St. Croix and Atari (4 yo, Cavachon mixed breed) was born on a farm and has been spoiled since birth! :) I also volunteer with Ruff Start USVI, the rescue service that rescued my dog Belle! I spend time with the rescue puppies, taking care of them, playing with them, etc. My family also often foster dogs from Ruff Start, Belle was a foster dog before we decided to adopt her! About: I have personally had a pet or 3 since I was 13 years old. I begged for a cat for years and once I got one, I never have been without at least one pet. I have been volunteering with the ARL since 2005. I have had 30+ foster dogs through them as well. I just love animals. I do have weekends blocked but just ask about availability! I am retired. I enjoy going for walks with dogs and depending on the dog spending time outside in my fenced in backyard. I have a 6 foot fence. Your dog will have the ability to be part of our family and our family pets are on our furniture. We do separate our home animals, fosters and house guests at night. The "regulars" get to sleep in our beds while our guests get other accommodations. It makes for better harmony for us. Because we foster on a regular basis our animals are very used to different dogs coming into our home. Our home is pretty quiet and relaxing.

About: Growing up, I’ve cared for animals of all sizes, breeds, and personalities. Friends, neighbors, and family have trusted me to feed, walk, play with, and love their pets. I truly love all animals and enjoy staying active, so whether your dog needs a long walk, run, or extra playtime, I’m happy to help! As a full-time teacher, my availability is limited during the school year. However, I am primarily looking to provide pet care during the summer months when I have a very open and flexible schedule. Throughout the summer, I am available most days and accommodate morning, afternoon, and evening visits. Whether caring for pets in my home or yours, I prioritize creating a safe, calm, and loving environment. I will follow each pets routine closely, including feeding schedules, exercise needs, and any specific instructions you provide.
About: I have experience with all kinds of dogs! My own 2 dogs come from very different places. Belle (3 yo, mixed breed) is a medium-sized rescue dog from the island of St. Croix and Atari (4 yo, Cavachon mixed breed) was born on a farm and has been spoiled since birth! :) I also volunteer with Ruff Start USVI, the rescue service that rescued my dog Belle! I spend time with the rescue puppies, taking care of them, playing with them, etc. My family also often foster dogs from Ruff Start, Belle was a foster dog before we decided to adopt her! I am currently searching for a summer part time job so I have lots of time to take care of your pets this summer! I will be in the Ankeny area until August 10th when I move back to Ames for college! I will be able to provide services in Ames once I return! ☺️ I will update with my college schedule once it gets closer to move-in. I am completely flexible to whatever your dog may need! I can perfectly heed to any dog schedule and follow along with any weird little quirk! I love sending pictures and will send plenty of updates or only a few, whatever you prefer!

Whether your pet goes out on a leash, uses a fenced in yard, or requires potty pads to go to the bathroom, I'll follow your instructions as discussed through the Rover app, or during our initial "meet and greet". I have a flexible schedule where I can pop around to your pet when needed. I have a heart for animals along with the patience needed to give quality pet care. Your pet will always come first and I would treat them as if they are my own.

“This was our first time using Rover to find someone to board our dog while we had a long weekend trip. We were cautious, because we have had no do great experiences with traditional boarding kennels with our dog Toby. After reading reviews, we booked with Alok. He offered to have Toby come over to his house and do a "meet and greet" prior to our booking date, so he could see the house and meet Alok and his kids. Toby seemed right at home during the meet and greet and we had a nice visit with Alok and his daughter. We could tell Toby was going to be well cared for. We dropped Toby off on boarding day and he seemed happy to see us go. Lol. During his 3 day boarding, Alok kept me and my family updated with messages and pictures of Toby, which really reassured us we made a great decision. When we picked Toby up, Alok said he did great and that made us very happy to hear. He seemed to love Alok and we could tell he had a great time there.
