“My dog Tako was extremely well taken care of and I got frequent updates. Shanilka was very easy to communicate with and she was very flexible as my travel plans changed due to the weather. I will absolutely be using her again if I ever need!”
“If I could give more than 5 stars, I would! This was my first pet boarding with neighbor Alex. Our meet and greet was wonderful, and I knew then my fur baby, Lexi, would love staying at his home. Alex and Lexi enjoyed one another during my recent trip. Alex even got Lexi to eat during what is normally a hunger strike when staying with new sitters. I’ve already booked my 2024 trips with Alex keeping Lexi. Unfortunately my previous boarding facility just lost a client!”

“Meet and greet allowed us to have the pets meet and plan. Our Dogs stay was great. She fit in easily and was happy to play with their family. Pictures daily were cute. We will book again when traveling.”

“Our pup stayed with Chad and his wife for two weeks while we visited family. It went absolutely smoothly with no issues. We will definitely reach out to Chad the next time we go away.”
“Sonia is very communicative and sent lots of photos- I was confident that my cat was happy and well taken care of during my trip. I know my cat will love to go back to Sonia’s next time I travel!”

“Cal and Kelly took great care of Buttercup and sent lots of photos of her having fun with her dog friends there. They let us know when she was feeling anxious (she is a sensitive rescue) and took extra care to make her more comfortable. They are our favorite Rover sitters!”

“Anne Marie took such great care of Danny, she was patient and kind to him as a senior dog and just loved on him! I will definitely be asking Anne Marie to care for him again when I need it.”
“Faustine was an amazing dog sitter and was super sweet, flexible with great communication skills. We super appreciate Faustine and we would 100% use her again!!!”

“Mariah always comes back to us happier than when she left. Haydenn is a great communicator and gives frequent pupdates. More importantly, he has a way with dogs like no other. We are so grateful to have him in ours/Mariahs life!”

“Christian was amazing! Accepted my sitting request with pretty short notice after I found out my roommate wouldn’t be able to watch my dog. She also gladly watched my dog for an extra night than was originally planned when my flight got delayed. She sent me frequent updates and pictures of my dog, and it was obvious he was happy and well taken care of. Would definitely recommend her services and book with her again!”

“Austin and Majid took great care of our pup while we were away for a week. Our dog is a rescue with a history of some behavioral issues, and what drew us to them is that they were very comfortable and confident in taking care of pups with all kinds of temperaments. We appreciated the updates and felt great knowing she was safe and well-cared for.”

“We all had such a good experience with Erin! Great communication, loved the pictures and Sherman had such a good time on their walks and outings. Highly recommend. Thank you so much, Erin!”

“We’ve been using Nadia’s dog sitting services repeatedly and couldn’t be happier. Our dog is always well cared for, and Nadia goes above and beyond when it comes to communication and accommodating our needs. We’ll continue booking with her and recommend her without hesitation.”

“I've booked with Julia a few times now and always have a great experience. She spends lots of time with my dog and sends lots of photos. She has multiple spaces so she can group dogs by energy level and individualize your dogs experience. I love that my dog gets to socialize with another chihuahua, without being overwhelmed by higher energy dogs. And she has a great yard for the dogs to sniff around.”

“Michael was the best dog sitter we’ve ever had! Cannot recommend enough. We were looking for someone who would exercise our dog and we truly found it. We came home from a trip to a happy, tired dog. Lots of pictures and videos and we could tell he was genuinely cared for as if he were Michael’s own dog.”

“Kamille was amazing with our senior dog. Made sure she got lots of walks and her meds and food. When we had car trouble picking my dog up, Kamille even offered to drop her off!”

“I board Winston with Michael every time I go out of town. I get pictures of all of the activities they do together and all of the new doggy friends Winston makes. I feel entirely confident that my dog is getting the best care when I’m away.”

“McKinley was the best sitter we could’ve had! She was able to accommodate to a last minute request. She sent frequent updates and my pup felt so comfortable in her house with her other pets. 10/10 best sitter in the area!”

“Stephanie and Luis were great with my dog, Shipley. I felt like I picked the best possible spot for him to stay while I was out of town. I will definitely rebook in the future!”

“Evan and Megan were great sitters! They communicated well the entire time we were gone and sent us pics to keep us up to date on how our puppy was doing. Highly recommended.”

“Leo was so incredibly friendly and was really invested in his time with our two cats. He left really helpful notes each day. I'm sure Nyx and Ellwood are looking forward to the next time Leo can pet sit them!”

“Karrah did an amazing job taking care of my cats! She was so kind and dependable, and I immediately felt at ease leaving them with her. It’s not always easy to trust someone with your pets, but she made the whole process feel effortless. She kept me updated regularly and sent tons of photos, which I loved—it was clear my cats were relaxed, well cared for, and getting lots of attention. That level of communication really meant a lot to me. Karrah is truly a thoughtful and reliable pet sitter, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone. I’m so grateful for the care she gave my cats and will absolutely be reaching out to her again in the future!”

“Chia-Chun was a great cat sitter! She sent me photos and updates every day! Since was new to my cats, they stayed away for the most part but at least showed themselves after a week or so, 😆. I recommend Chia-Chun!”
“Michael is an exceptionally conscientious sitter and took first-rate care of my geriatric cat. He thoroughly cleaned up litter and food areas and gave me detailed reports on his visits. I would enthusiastically recommend him and look forward to working with him again.”

“Linda was absolutely amazing. My situation was very complex due to leaving for a family emergency and she was such a huge help. She checked in on my fur baby, and made sure she was safe and okay. Thank you so much Linda, I can’t recommend you enough!”

“Brianna always goes above and beyond to take care of our cat, paying her a lot of attention and making sure she's well looked after. She also sends very detailed visit reports with lot of photos! Strong strong recommend.”

“This was our second time having Megan drop in to take care of our cats and we’ll certainly look to her for a third. Her attention to detail, great communication skills, and overall care for our pets is all top notch. Would highly recommend her to anyone!”

“Juna took great care of our cats while we were out of town for the holiday! She was very thorough in making sure she knew all the details to best care for our girls and was very communicative throughout her stay with pictures and updates along the way. Will definitely be booking again with her when we can!”

“Jason was wonderful. He was communicative, went above and beyond (like offering to pick up more food when I miscounted and didn't leave enough cans of food), and was generally lovely to correspond with. Me and my cats wholeheartedly endorse!”

“I want to share my recent experience with Valeria, who looked after Mr. Lucian, my Bengal cat, while I was away in Colorado. Although Mr. Lucian can get a bit anxious when he's not at home, Valeria sent me regular photos that showed that he settled in beautifully under her care. Valeria is a wonderful communicator and punctual when it came to picking up and dropping Mr. Lucian—a real life saver for someone with a busy schedule like mine. Valeria’s genuine enjoyment of spending time with animals, especially cats in my case, really comes through. Her attention to detail and warmth made me feel confident that Mr. Lucian was in good hands. I will definitely reach out to Valeria first for any future pet-sitting needs, and I highly recommend you consider doing the same.”

“Joshgun was wonderful! He helped me out last minute over Thanksgiving and took wonderful care of my cats. He was even willing to help when my return plans changed the day before I was supposed to return. My cats adore him and I will absolutely have him back when I go out of town again.”

Today, I work in healthcare, where compassion, attentiveness, and trust are at the core of everything I do. I bring those same qualities to every dog I care for, ensuring they receive safe, reliable, and loving attention while you're away. Whether your pup needs an energetic walk, extra companionship, or a caring friend to keep them active and happy, you can count on me to treat them like family. Dog walking is a regular part of my weekly schedule, and I prioritize providing dependable, consistent care for every dog. I carefully plan my day to accommodate scheduled walks, ensuring each pet receives appropriate exercise, attention, and outdoor time based on their individual needs. I maintain clear communication with pet owners, arrive on time, and provide updates when requested. My goal is to ensure every walk is safe, enjoyable, and beneficial for the dog's physical and mental well-being. I provide safe, attentive walks tailored to each dog's energy level and needs. I ensure they get exercise, mental stimulation, water when needed, and plenty of positive reinforcement during our time together
“Michael is always reliable, this my second rover experience with michael and he’s always on top of communication, sending me photos of sevyn, asking any questions he might have. He’s honestly been such a big help on days I need someone to take care of sevyn even if it’s last minute”

“I couldn’t be happier with Adi & Pat’s care for Louie! They communicate well and clearly, they asked good questions to make sure they’d cover all the bases for Louie’s care, and provided regular updates and photos, which were greatly appreciated. Louie came home happy and relaxed after his stay and knowing he had a comfortable time is great peace of mind. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them for anyone looking for local sitters and I will certainly be rebooking for any future stays!”

“Jonathan was great with our recently adopted dog that gave him a hard time. He was calm, patient and adapted to the situation as needed, communicating well along the way.”

About: I'm a full-time professional with fairly flexible work hours. I have two dogs, a happy, healthy 12 yr old Plott-hound mix, Ollie, and a happy, energetic and loving 2 yr old husky-shepherd mix, Bella., I've watched and cared for dozens of other dogs (friends, family, etc.) over the last 15 years and am generally known as a bit of a 'dog whisperer'. I absolutely love dogs and look forward to taking exceptional care of your pet when you need to leave them in somebody else's care. Ollie, Bella, and I walk for ~4 miles every day around the neighborhood, go to dog friendly parks/fields in my neighborhood, and walks in the woods where they can run off leash. As highlighted in the pictures, Ollie and Bella readily get along with a wide variety of dogs as a walking buddy, a sleeping buddy, or a running-around-a-field buddy. If you leave your dog with us, your dog will have new canine friends, get lots of fun neighborhood walks, and have friends to cuddle up with on the couch / in their dog bed after a long-day of walking, eating, and sleeping :). I typically do two long walks each day (one between ~7-9 AM, the other sometime between 5-7 PM). Will also do a short mid-day walk and/or a short pre-bedtime walk as needed! While Ollie and Bella were crate trained as puppies, at this point they roams freely throughout the house. That said, I'm happy to host crate-trained dogs, and more than comfortable allowing your (trained!) dog to roam free throughout my home much like my pups.
About: I grew up with 2 big dogs in my house and would dog sit for friends families. Now I dog sit for many of my coworkers who trust me not only in our day job but also with their best friend, their pet. I work from home four days a week and have the flexibility to step away from my computer when need be. We end on Fridays by 3 PM and Tuesday-Thursday I am available at lunch as well as after 4 PM. I will always make sure your dog is safely on leash and that I am in control. Unless specifically stated I will make sure that your dog does not get into unsafe situations whether with people or other dogs who are out when we are walking.

“We are just thrilled with the care Leo's reliability, kindness, and the care he shows for our dog. I happened to be home when he came by yesterday, and saw that he removed his shoes when he came in. Our family doesn't wear shoes in the house and we have a tray next to the door for shoes, but we never ask or expect guests to remove theirs. Leo is so considerate and observant that he did this on his own. I think this speaks volumes about him. We feel very fortunate to have him caring for Jake.”

About: I am excited to help take care of your fur baby! I am available for dog walks and drop-in visits. I have been a dog lover all my life. I know many of the dogs in the neighborhood and often find dogs running to me in excitement wanting to meet me. Caring for dogs has always brought be a lot of joy! I grew up with a yellow Labrador retriever as a kid. As an adult, once I was able to afford a dog, my then boyfriend (now husband) and I adopted our dog Hazel, a sweet 50 pound foxhound, from a local rescue organization. I have worked hard to train her well. She has had several medical issues over the years, so I have learned how to effectively handle medications, vet visits, post-op care, and recovery. While I am new to Rover, I have helped care for dogs for years for other family members and friends. I have helped care for many different kinds of dogs from a tiny Maltepoo to a large 70 pound mixed breed dog. I have dog sat regularly for my parents’ beagle, a friend’s boxer mix, and my mother in-law’s miniature German spitz that looks a bit like a Pomeranian. I have also walked many other kinds of dogs including a miniature dachshund and a large mixed breed dog that was mostly lab, pit bull, and husky. Most of the dogs I have cared for are under 50 pounds, and given my size, I am most comfortable with small and medium size dogs unless they are already very good on a leash and not reactive outside. I am very comfortable helping with dog walks, meal time, medications if needed so long as instructions are clear, and play time. Until mid-August, I have lots of availability for dog walks and drop-in care during the week and on weekends except for a couple weekends when I will be traveling. After August 16, I will have more limited availability but generally be available for dog walks or drop-ins on Saturday afternoons and/or Sundays. I always make a point of coming prepared and learning about the dog ahead of time to make sure I know what he or she needs and likes. I talk to the owner to get a sense of what the dog can and cannot eat, what if any medication they take and the dosage, how they interact with other dogs, how they interact with other animals, how they interact with people, and what they do and don’t like. Dogs have personalities like we do, so it’s important to know this ahead of time as best as possible to avoid putting dogs in uncomfortable or potentially dangerous situations. For example, some dogs are very social with other dogs, love daycare or dog parks, and just love to play. Others, like my dog, absolutely hate dog parks and are often skittish around other dogs they don’t know, but love meeting people. Still others may be a bit reactive to certain triggers like certain sounds or smells or other animals that don’t know. The more I learn in advance, the better. It is very important to take the time to build trust with pets and to make them feel safe and loved. I always let a new dog approach me first and pay close attention to their body language. I try to meet them on their level as well. Once I gain their trust, which usually comes fairly quickly, then I can safely play with them and walk them. When out on a walk, I never walk dogs off leash unless in a fully fenced yard or park. The only exception to this is a dog I own and know is trained very well and has exceptional recall even in highly distracting environments. Since our area is fairly urban with lots of distractions, cars, bikes, and other animals, I generally do not think it is safe for a dog to be off leash outside. I also prefer to bring treats on walks and have a mix of training treats and high value treats to help condition the dog to good behavior and keep them focused if there is a risky distraction they need to avoid such as a reactive dog or a stray cat. I clicker trained my dog and find this to be pretty effective. However, I follow the lead of the owner with their training methods and the terms they use for certain commands to make sure the dog feels confident and safe. It is worth noting though that I do not and will not use coercive or negative reinforcement methods such as prong or shock collars, hitting, or yelling at a dog. These methods are ineffective, cruel to the dog, and in many cases they actually worsen stress, aggression, and reactivity in dogs. When on a walk I am very cognizant of hazards to avoid like chicken bones, pesticides on lawns, glass, traffic, animals the dog may chase, etc. I generally do not read or text on my phone while walking so I can focus on the dog and making sure both of us are safe. This is especially the case for larger dogs, since I am only 5 feet tall. Ultimately, when I am caring for a dog as a dog walker or dropping in for a visit, that is the dog’s time. I get a sense of what they like and follow their lead so they enjoy their time. Hounds often like nothing better than to sniff everything outside. Dachshunds usually love to run and make noise. Retrievers often can play fetch for hours. Shepherds and herding breads like border collies sometimes like nothing more than to show off how smart and athletic they are or to herd a group.
“What a great experience! My dog was so happy in the pics I just couldn’t believe it! Many thanks to Selam and I look forward to using her services again in the near future.”

“Victor was great! We needed a Rover at the last minute during the holiday season and he was available. He met up with us the same day to go over everything and communicated the entire time we were out of town. We came back to a very happy dog! We can’t thank him enough and will definitely try to book again if he’s available.”

“Sandi was able to step in for me in an emergency situation and I could not have been more grateful. It’s clear that Sandi is an experienced dog walker in the area and knows just where to take the dogs so they can play and have fun. Thank you Sandi!”

About: I have cared for pets since I was a child. We've had our own fur babies and also fostered many rescues from the street. I did this especially when we lived in Morocco and Jordan, where many stray animals could be found lost in the streets. Over these years I have learned to understand animals and notice their personality traits and quirks. I love them all! I work from home so my schedule is very flexible. I am often also available on short notice. I am willing to keep pets at my home or come to yours. I have a cat but she is very friendly and easy going with dogs. If a dog or cat I am caring for needs some space or if they don't get along I keep my cat upstairs, and put up a baby gate if needed.

About: I grew up with two cats, a dog, and would walk dogs in the neighborhood I grew up. I’ve trained dogs to sit, stay, speak, and other basic skills. I can drop by any time as long as I have notice! External commitments are flexible. Weekends are when I am mostly available at this time. I believe in leaving things better than you found them, and I love taking care of all living beings. I show that same amount of care in others’ homes.

About: I’ve been pet sitting in DC and Maryland for the past 5 years and loving every minute! I’ve worked with everything from medically complex kitties to lap cats to scaredy cats, wheel-chair assisted dogs, older dogs who need a slower pace, reactive dogs who need patience, and happy-go-lucky pups. Outside of pet sitting, I have 2 cats of my own, Clover and Shiro, and a crested gecko, Draco, so animals are a big part of my life! I’m comfortable following detailed routines, giving meds if needed, advocating for your pet’s boundaries on walks, and adjusting to whatever your pet needs to feel safe and comfortable. I work from home and have a very flexible schedule so let me know when works best for you! Feel free to shoot me a message if your plans change or you need to move things around. I know trusting someone with your pet and your home is a big deal. During every visit, I keep an eye out for anything unusual, like changes in appetite or behavior, and I'll send plenty of photos and updates so you know how they're doing.

About: I have grown up with a family that took in rescue dogs. As a result, I have a lot of experience walking dogs, cleaning up after them, and bonding with them. I also want to do this job because I love dogs and do not have one of my own! ;) I follow the pet owner's instructions carefully. I provide the pet with TONS of attention, grooming, petting. Typically, pet owners have a specific amount of food to provide the dog, I follow that instruction. I also pay attention to the regimen and recommendations provided by the owner. Pet care fits seamlessly into my daily routine as I have a flexible schedule that allows me to dedicate ample time to the pets I care for. My house gets lots of natural sunlight and has lots of soft and cozy spaces for Maya, and your dog, to take a nap.

“My dog Tako was extremely well taken care of and I got frequent updates. Shanilka was very easy to communicate with and she was very flexible as my travel plans changed due to the weather. I will absolutely be using her again if I ever need!”
“Meet and greet allowed us to have the pets meet and plan. Our Dogs stay was great. She fit in easily and was happy to play with their family. Pictures daily were cute. We will book again when traveling.”

“Cal and Kelly took great care of Buttercup and sent lots of photos of her having fun with her dog friends there. They let us know when she was feeling anxious (she is a sensitive rescue) and took extra care to make her more comfortable. They are our favorite Rover sitters!”

“Evan and Megan were great sitters! They communicated well the entire time we were gone and sent us pics to keep us up to date on how our puppy was doing. Highly recommended.”

“We had a wonderful experience boarding our cat and dog with Derek. We needed a sitter last minute and he responded right away and was an absolute life saver. We got updates with pictures and videos daily and both Tiara and Coco looked so happy and well cared for. I miscalculated the date of our return by a day and Derek promptly extended the booking and made everything so stress free and seamless!”

“Brendan again proved a thoughtful and accommodating host to my pooch Edna, providing soft spots to snuggle in and tummy rubs on demand. Edna and I both have the utmost trust in Brendan and it's a wonderful thing!”

“Kelly was fabulous! She watched our two newfies and they were so happy I was afraid they would not want to come home. I think it is a big plus that Kelly has a yard where the dogs could work off some of their energy and play. I really appreciated the updates and photos that Kelly sent through the stay, which put us at ease. I would really recommend Kelly - five stars!”

“Rodrigo is the best. He is considerate, accommodating, and sends great pictures and updates. My dog Curtis loves visiting for doggy daycare and extended stays.”

“Cori is always great with my pup Lily! They have basically been my dog's vacation home all summer with how many trips I had to take XD Cori is always quick to respond, sends pictures, and overall is an amazing pet sitter. She already knows I'll be contacting her for any new stays, thanks again!”

“What’ a wonderful experience. Oreo had a great time and was treated like a prince. Not sure he wanted to come home!! :) really appreciated all the communication and care. Will definitely rebook in the future.”
