About: I live near Dupont/West End and have been caring for my bonded pair of cats for 4 years here in DC! But I also have cared for our family cat and rabbit prior to college. I think cats have a huge amount of personality so I would love to give your cats the attention they need while you are away! I do work a hybrid schedule, so I can do drop in visits on most weekends, Monday and Friday evenings. But I can also drop in on the evenings of Tues-Thurs depending on my schedule, so please give me an advance notice of what you are looking for and I can coordinate!

About: I have always loved dogs and have been dog walking / sitting for about three years. I’m comfortable with dogs of all sizes. I’m an active person, and will happily take your dog on a long walk, run, or other adventure to help them have their best day while you are away. I’m most available throughout the day on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday and would love to spend this time caring for a dog. I currently work in person Tuesday through Thursday but sometimes have availability after 5pm. About: I’ve cared for pets ever since I was a child. Most recently, I cared for a hound dog for 7 years and currently going on 4 years caring for a cat. I trained my dog who had no exposure to cats prior to me adopting one. They ended up living harmonious together. I go above and beyond, even finding joint exercises and massages for a senior dog I had as he was aging. I see pets as family, especially having no children, so I’d love to make myself available for those in need of caretaking because I have the capacity. I’m currently flexible when it comes to pet care as I am self employed working from home. I can easily adjust to the owners pet schedule because of the flexibility of my daily and weekly routine. There are many dog parks, trails, and walkable areas where I live in the DuPont neighborhood within the DC metro area. About: I've had dogs since I was about 14 years of age, from tiny terriers to large labradors. I've also been surrounded by some of the loveliest (and skittish!) cats, learning to love them like my own. I work only weekend nights, which is when my partner is available. Even then, I'm never more than a few minutes walk away from home in case of an emergency. Taking care of your fur baby is always top priority! I'm always home, and would never abandon a pet. I take my current dog everywhere I possibly can, and in the rare chance I have to leave, my dog is crated or isolated in a different room. We also have access to an enclosed patio.

“John (Johnny) is a fantastic walker! He told me he’s new to the Rover platform but I can tell he’s very experienced and fantastic with dogs/animals. My dog Monty is not a huge walker and after about 10 minutes walking, Monty was dragging him back to my apartment and didn’t want to keep walking. Johnny called me to communicate that he is happy to do the full 30 minute walk, but that Monty wanted to come home and wouldn’t walk. He came back to my apartment and hung with Monty inside for the remaining 20 minutes. I recommend Johnny as a walker. He’s also so friendly and kind!”

Whether I'm in my own home or a client's home, safety and comfort come first. I keep a close eye on pets at all times, follow any feeding, medication, or routine instructions exactly as given, and make sure spaces are secure (leashed walks, safe yards, doors and gates checked). In my own home, pets have a calm, comfortable space to settle in, away from hazards, with fresh water always available. I communicate regularly with owners, photo updates and check-ins, so they always know their pet is safe and happy.

About: I've been around animals my whole life, about 35 years now. Growing up, my house was basically a small zoo. We had cats, lovebirds, finches, a sun conure, a chinchilla, a bearded dragon, turtles, fish, and even a pet chicken. My mom worked at a pet shop for over ten years, so we were always taking in animals that needed extra care or medication while they recovered. Dogs came later in life and I fell for them hard. I've lived with roommates' dogs, done pet sits through TrustedHousesitters, and I help look after my family's cat. All of that made me pretty calm and easy to have around your pet, and I can usually read what an animal needs before it turns into a problem. One more thing: I do standup comedy on the side, so expect a lot of ridiculous photos and videos of your pet. Your updates definitely won't be boring. I work from home, so I'm around during the day when a lot of sitters aren't. That makes me a good fit for daytime walks, drop-in visits, and house sitting. When I'm house sitting I can set up my laptop at your place and work from there as long as there's wifi, which means your pet has company most of the day instead of an empty house. I'm flexible on weekdays and weekends, early or late, and I'll always sort out the timing with you ahead of time. When I'm in your home I stick to your routines and house rules exactly, and I treat your space with respect (I'm the guest who does the dishes). Doors, gates, and leashes always stay secure. On walks I wear a body cam, so if anything ever happens you'll have as much detail as possible. It keeps me accountable and gives you peace of mind while I keep an eye on your dog and everything around us, from traffic to other dogs to that one suspicious squirrel. You'll get regular photo and text updates, feeding and meds exactly how you've asked, and fresh water down at all times. If something ever feels off you'll hear from me right away, and I know when it's time to call a vet.
