About: Growing up, I was always interested in learning about different dog breeds and had aspirations of becoming a veterinarian. Though I did not become a veterinarian, I do have a solid background and understanding of animal healthcare and wellbeing thanks to my undergraduate studies (B.S. Zoology, some Animal Science) and ongoing interest in pet health and dog training. While still in high school, I worked briefly in a pet boarding facility where I prepared morning and evening meals, administered medications, and supervised outdoor play for large groups of dogs. From this experience supervising large groups of dogs, I became more familiar with canine body language and behavioral cues. My sheepadoodle, Ivy, came home to me at about 10 weeks old; so I did potty train and leash train her with positive reinforcement using her favorite treats. I also had the opportunity to foster a litter of 5 puppies in college and potty trained them as well. In addition to my experience with puppies, I have cared for a few senior pups including my brother’s aging border collie and pitbull mix and my late Great Boxer (Great Dane/boxer), Grover. In my experience caring for senior pups, I became familiar with the medical issues that come along with increasing age such as arthritis, incontinence, deafness/blindness, and even cancer to name a few. My own pups have also had sensitive skin, digestive issues, and recurrent ear infections. Managing these health issues at times required daily cleanings, ointment applications, and attention to ensure that wounds or infections healed without interference. I work part-time in a hospital lab, with a fixed schedule. I work 4 days in a row, then I am off for 10 days. When I am not working in the lab, I am at home caring for my two young children (ages 3 and almost 2) and 5 year-old sheepadoodle. We enjoy spending time outside in the backyard or going for walks around the neighborhood. Any dog that steps paw inside my home is treated like family. If your precious pup requires *special* treatment, I try my best to adhere to any instructions provided. I have a large crate, along with dog blankets, if your pup is into that sort of thing. It is spacious enough for any standard medium to large sized dog. I do have a decently sized backyard with 6 ft privacy fencing all around, and larger smooth rocks surrounding the grass. If your pup is not great with tiny humans, loud noises, or just the general chaos of a young family, please consider a sitter with a calmer environment that better meets their needs.

About: I’m SUCH an Auntie with all the pets I watch! I've regularly cared for all my siblings' dogs for decades -my sister's two medium dogs have even recently been for a stay of over a week, right here in my apartment! So a multi-day routine is pretty easy for me. I've been told more than once that a pet who "doesn't usually warm up to people" ends up seeking me out! Since it seems to be a strength of mine, your shy pet may end up a good friend! I live in a studio (no private yard), but I have a fenced back porch for outdoor time and the complex is very secure so walking around here is no problem! My schedule as a certified night-owl runs roughly noon to 5am, so I'm a great fit for lunchtime visits and evening/night walks -and bonus (!) you don't have to rush back from a late-night out, since I've got your doggos covered well past when most sitters would need you home. For overnight boarding, I'm a light sleeper and stay responsive to your dog's needs through the night and early morning. I won't cancel for snow -I grew up driving in snow and ice even from before 16 on a South Dakota farm and spent over a decade in Wyoming winters, so Colorado weather doesn't scare me off (maybe a blizzard sure, but otherwise!) My own 8-year-old cat is fully comfortable around dogs and cats. She's been present through all of my sister's dogs' stays (check out the photos!) and has her own secure, independent access to our enclosed back porch as well as a catio enclosure for daytime chillin'. Currently my job is DoorDashing, so I could whittle out any time for all pets! I am a big night person, so as said noon to 5am is typical. That would mean I would be awake with your doggos for more time than typical sitters at night. I am willing to do several days in a row if needed since I can move my dashing schedule around quite easily. When I am at your place not only will your pets be taken care of with whatever schedule you need, but your house will be looked after as well. If there are any accidents that need to be taken care of, I will make sure it's set! My home is very small -just a studio (a good-sized studio apartment), but I have had my sister’s two medium-large dogs stay there with me for over a week and they did a great job! It’s not much area to wander around in, but I have pet beds and spaces to feed them! I also live on the first floor with a walkout small back porch that leads to the well-maintained outdoors of the apartment complex where I can easily take your dogs for any outside time they would need. The soundproofing in my place is also immaculate, so even if they bark everything will be okay! I do have one cat. So if your dogs or other cats are not okay with that, I am more than willing to come to your place if need be. She is great with others as long as they’re not too into her business and she has places that she can hide when she needs so she is great! I also have a “catio” on my back deck that is attached to my window with a pet flap where my cat goes out and chills. It is a very large enclosure.

“I could just tell when i walked in the door that bowie was going to be well taken care of. My puppy usually has a hard time when we leave her at a boarding house. She doesnt eat much, and barks all night but not this time! “Annie and Israel were great with our rescue dog on his long visit! They were very accommodating and let us do a daycare visit to see how he would integrate into their home for a day before we left on a long trip. Throughout each visit we were given plenty of updates and photos, and were responsive when we checked in to see how he was doing. They take great care of their pet guests and ensure a safe environment with supervision and gates throughout the house, which was very thoughtful. We were able to enjoy our trip knowing our dog was well taken care of! We would use their services again.”

She balances warmth and sensitivity with confident, grounded leadership, so she clearly knows how to set appropriate boundaries and make dogs feel secure without being harsh or overbearing. She was effortlessly attentive and tuned in to my girl Cedar’s needs during our meet & greet, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. Her dog, Daisy, is such a sweet and gentle being as well. I’m so grateful my pup had such a good and safe doggie friend while I was away! Julia communicated through thoughtful little updates, anecdotes, pics, and vids, so I knew how Cedar was doing. She also went above and beyond by taking her on extra-special walks and giving her plenty of fun, enriching time outside. I’m very particular about who I leave my dog with, and I would absolutely trust Julia with her again. I feel really lucky to have found her!”
