About: I've been a devoted dog lover since childhood when my mom would take in strays and rescues from the streets. I helped groom, train, love, and care for these sweet souls. Today, I work as a part-time substitute school teacher but find that I need more four footed companionship and outside time in my life, so I'd love to be your go to dog walker on my days off. I've always helped my friends and neighbors with their dogs (walking or pet sitting), and I'm good big dogs and little dogs. With 20+ years of teaching experience, you know that I have oodles of patience and consistency to rely on, and lots of caring and affection to give. Please let me help you give your pets the care and attention that they need when you're at work or on vacation! I'm working part time as a substitute teacher--this means that I generally work 3 days a week, and am often home by 3:30. I have afternoons available for longer walks and play-time. I am not able to board dogs in my own home, but in your home I can make sure that your dog or cat has the kind of love and care that they are used to whether they are an inside dog or outside. Walking is one of my favorite activities so I'm there to make sure that you're dog and myself are getting the exercise we need!

I have two labs of my own, a male and a female, both social and easy, so your dog has company and a pack to fall into rather than a crate and a quiet house. I’ve been boarding for friends and neighbors for 10, and I know what a bored 70-pound dog does to a living room, which is why exercise comes first here, not as a bonus. Good fit for: large breeds, working and sporting dogs, adolescents with too much energy, dogs who don’t do well kenneled. Not a good fit for: dogs who can’t be around other dogs, or who need to be kept separate. I’d rather say that up front than have anyone spend a bad weekend. I also offer dog walking and drop-in visits for locals who’d rather keep their dog at home. Same approach, a walk here means actual miles on real terrain, not fifteen minutes on pavement. In the house: Dogs are loose in the main living area with me and my two labs, not confined to a garage or basement. I have crates available if your dog is crate-trained or you’d prefer it, and I’m happy to keep whatever routine they already have. New dogs and mine are introduced outside on neutral ground before anyone comes in the house. Requirements: Up to date on rabies, distemper/parvo, and bordetella. I ask for your vet’s contact and a backup person who can make decisions if I can’t reach you. Wildlife: We’re in the foothills, so coyotes, bears, and mountain lions are part of the landscape. Dogs go out into the fenced yard supervised, not unattended, and I don’t leave food or water bowls outside. Nobody is out in the yard alone at dawn or dusk. If something goes wrong: I’ll call you first, but I won’t wait on a callback to get a dog treated. My work is in wildfire and emergency planning, so I keep an evacuation plan for my own dogs including crates, leashes, records, and a go-bag ready and any boarding dog is included in it if there is an emergency.

About: I’ve cat sat before and I’m very comfortable with cats of all personalities. I know some are social and playful, and others prefer their space, and I’m good at reading that and adjusting. I’m patient, calm, and not overwhelming, which tends to work really well with cats. I’m happy to play if they want attention, or just keep things quiet and consistent if that’s what they prefer. I also make sure litter boxes are clean, feeding is on schedule, and everything stays as close to their normal routine as possible.

About: I’ve been raising, fostering and rescuing dogs for the past 13 years. I’ve been through all the dog life stages and dealt with all varieties of dog behavioral and medical issues. Everyone I know says that in their next life they want to come back as one of my dogs-spoiled to no end! About: With a lifetime of animal love and care, I was most recently a doggie foster parent. This gave me experience with both behavioral and medical care, and raised my personal bar for doggie care. I truly enjoy the company of animals, and working predominantly from home, my partner and I are able to take breaks for walks and drop ins as needed! We have two SWEET dogs at home - who haven't met a dog they didn't love- that could join in the walk, or we could go solo with your pups! “Our dog Kady spent a week with Amy T. This was the best boarding experience we have had in 16 years of dog ownership. Kady was able to sleep on her bed in a living room as opposed to a cold kennel. She got to spend plenty of time outside having the freedom to go in and out through the day. She went on walks with Amy around Amy's beautiful property unleashed, which meant the freedom to play with others and run! As Kady is an only dog, and seems to relate better to people than other dogs, I was comforted to know Amy and her husband would be with the dogs giving belly rubs and talking to them all day. While on our vacation, we looked forward to the daily pictures we got of Kady and of Amy's "update" emails letting us know how Kady was doing. These updates are truly Amy's words and not some corporate template blowing smoke. I don't think we will board anywhere else. The drive to Amy T.'s is worth it for us and for our dog's happiness. Lastly, the cost...better than nearly any other boarding facility in the area.”
