My children and I are home most of the day, my husband works from home so the pets would rarely be alone more than a few hours at a time. Your dog will always have someone available to play with or spend time with during the day. We have a dog door installed that they will always have access to and a large, fenced backyard for running, playing and potty-ing. Our downstairs is tile floors, easy to clean up from any accidents they might have. If they are house trained, they will have access to the upstairs as well and can sleep in our bedrooms. If they are experiencing accidents, we have a hard floor bedroom that one of us humans(lol) will sleep in with the dogs so they do not have to sleep alone.
