“Madeleine took great care of our dog Joni while we were out of town. My dog and I met her for a meet and greet beforehand, which is helpful for our dog - she likes people that she’s met a few times. Madeleine was easy to coordinate with and sent us daily updates with pictures. We’ll definitely book dog sitting services with Madeleine again.”

“We couldn’t have asked for a better sitter! From the start, Tierra was incredibly considerate of our dog’s routine and needs. We loved getting the daily updates and photos—it really put our minds at ease while we were away. It was clear our dog felt right at home at her place and was treated like family. We’ll definitely be booking with her again!”

“I had a fantastic experience with Sarah looking after my dog, Bash. From the start, it was clear that she was committed to keeping him physically engaged and safe. I really appreciated that she prioritized getting him out for plenty of long, vigorous walks. It was a huge relief to travel knowing that Bash was in capable hands, getting the exercise he needs to stay happy and tired. Beyond the activity, she kept me updated with check-ins and amazing photos (seriously I might frame one of them), which gave me complete peace of mind. I would highly recommend Sarah to anyone looking for a responsible, communicative, and active pet sitter. Both Bash and I are extremely satisfied customers!”

“Once again, Coco had a great time and was doted over! Many pictures sent to me allowed me to not worry at all while away. Highly recommend Danielle and will definitely book again.”

“This was such a great boarding experience! My pup is elderly and requires some patience and attention, and they were so kind and thoughtful with her. She got a bit sick on the first day and they let me know right away and were happy to make changes to her routine to work with it. I got consistent updates with pictures and felt totally certain that my dog was well cared for the entire time. Definitely one of the best dogsitters I've used through this site.”

“Our dog Bean had a great time with Patrick and his dog Sophie. I was grateful for an opportunity to meet Patrick and Sophie ahead of time. Bean and Sophie seemed to have very compatible temperaments so I was confident they would get along. The pictures and updates Patrick sent while Bean stayed with him gave us comfort knowing that she was doing well during our travels. Thanks Patrick and Sophie!”

“Her and her partner are excellent they took my pup in and she was so happy playing with their pups thank you guys and if I need people to watch my do I will always request yall.”

“Mary is wonderful! We recently adopted our dog from a shelter and he has some separation anxiety, so we weren't sure how his first overnight stay would go, but Mary's patient and thoughtful approach helped him feel comfortable quickly. We appreciated that she set up a meet & greet with her dog in advance, and then was in touch throughout his stay. We'll be sure to book Mary in the future.”

“Kelly was amazing. She is so thoughtful and caring, and she truly treated my dogs as if they were her own. She sent frequent updates, which made me feel good. My dogs had so much fun during their stay with Kelly! I was desperate to find a place for my dogs after I canceled our reservation at Wag hotels last minute. I’m so glad I did and that I found Kelly here! Highly recommend!!”

“Preston had his first visit with Lee yesterday. He’s high energy when other dogs are around and absolutely enjoyed his afternoon playing with her and the other dogs. Lee was attentive, provided great updates and overall made us feel comfortable leaving Preston with her. We cannot thank her enough!”

“We couldn’t have asked for better care for Kiko! Megan and Jenny were so flexible, thoughtful, and sent us lots of updates, which gave us so much peace of mind. Kiko was clearly in great hands — we’re so grateful and would absolutely recommend them to anyone!”

“My second time boarding my senior dachshund with Eiko and he had such a great time. Eiko did a great job of keeping my posted with updates and pictures, but not so frequent that I was worried or checking my phone too much. My dog seemed to have a great time and my trip away was pretty worth-free. I would happily book with Eiko again!”

“Jeff and Beth are the best! They kept me updated all the time about my dog’s adventures and were kind enough to make sure Shiryu was always comfortable. Great experience. Peace of mind while I’m traveling. Would definitely like to take Shiryu back next time!”

“Nikolai and his wife have a lot of experience watching after all breeds and sizes of dogs. My pup stayed with them along a large group of other pups over the holidays and we had an overall good experience with them. I was happy to know that our pup had plenty of friends to be with during his long stay.”

“Latricia charmed our anxious, fearful puppy in no time. He had special medical needs to be kept quiet and given prescriptions etc. during his first week long stay, and she had no problem keeping up with those issues. She was also very communicative and flexible with drop-off and pick-up times etc., which made things a lot easier for us! In short, our pup LOVES Latricia's place and enjoys going back :). We wouldn't have been able to leave town if it weren't for her attentive care and commitment to him.”
“Matthew and Van Jospeh did a wonderful job hosting our dog, Stanley, for a 2 night stay. They were very easy to work with, were flexible, very friendly, and Stanley seemed at ease the moment he met them. Would absolutely use their boarding services again. Thank you!”

“Sherry is an AMAZING dog sitter!! I trusted her to care for my sweet but nervous 50lb girl, Ellie, and I could not have asked for a better sitter. Sherry was so thorough, she sent plenty of updates throughout and put me at ease! She was super responsive to my dog’s needs, and I could see Ellie just melting and falling in love with her through the updates. She’s got a lovely, clean and safe apartment and she is obviously someone who knows dogs well. I would trust Sherry with dog sitting ANY day! Highly recommend.”

“Shannon was great at taking care of Roo during my trip. She was responsive, flexible with pick-up and drop-off times—which was helpful after some last-minute work meetings—sent adorable photos and videos, and made sure everything was okay. Roo had a wonderful time in her beautiful backyard during his stay.”

“Jennifer has been our cat sitter twice now. She has been absolutely great! She leaves detailed notes and updates and even goes above and beyond when she notices somethings to help with. I can highly recommend her to anyone that’s looking for a dependable and communicative pet sitter.”

“We were a little nervous leaving our kitties behind while away on a long international trip (almost 3 weeks), but we were also confident that Marian would take good care of them. Not only did she gain their trust and affection (including one somewhat shy and nervous cat), she also made sure that messes and accidents were taken care of, and we came back to happy, healthy cats and a clean home. We really appreciated Marian's availability, flexibility, and timely updates and communication especially over the busy holiday season. I'm sure our cats would be happy to see her again in the future!”

“Patrick was great with my anxious kitty! He provided regular and detailed updates and clearly has a lot of love for our pet friends 😻 I came home to a happy girl who had been well fed, well brushed and received all the attention she’s always craving!”

“This was our second time with Shanley, and would absolutely recommend her again. Very thorough, good communication and knows how to approach/work with our nervous kitty. She's also very helpful with other household tasks if needed. We won't hesitate to hire Shanley again in the future if availability works out!”

“My boys loved Cameron! He was great at communicating and sent lovely pics of them during each drop in. This was my first Rover experience and I’m so glad it was with Cam, I’m so excited to book him again!”

About: Thankfully I grew up with cats. I had the pleasure of having littermates in my family for 10yrs. I love matching a cat’s energy. So as long as I understand the cat’s temperament, we’ll be good.

“Shelly was awesome! My cat has separation anxiety and when we returned home from our trip he was mellow and happy. I could tell he received some quality attention while we were away.”

“Laura is a great cat-sitter, don’t hesitate to hire her! We needed last-minute holiday visits for our two kitties and Laura answered right away and was so on top of things. She was super easy to get in touch with and very helpful. Thanks, Laura!”
“Richard was great! He was friendly, professional and an excellent communicator. My cats loved him and he sent cute photos of their time together. I recommend Richard as a sitter!”

About: As a cat owner myself, I understand how important it is to have someone trustworthy and patient caring for your pet while you’re away. I have experience pet sitting cats multiple times and am comfortable following feeding routines, keeping litter areas clean, and making sure each cat feels safe, comfortable, and cared for in their own environment. I understand that every cat has a different personality, and I take the time to build trust with shy, playful, or independent cats alike. I also provide updates so owners can feel reassured while they’re away.
“If I could give Christine 25 stars, I would. Working with her was an absolute dream. The day I was set to leave for an international trip, one of my cats got sick and my booked cat sitter bailed, as they were uncomfortable giving medication. With just a few hours left before my departure, I hopped on Rover to try to find someone to help. Christine messaged me back right away, came for a meet and greet that same evening, and jumped right in. She visited my cats twice a day, gave my sick older cat her meds, kept me constantly updated with photos and little anecdotes and went over and above to help out with some other unexpected things that came up. Having someone so engaged and communicative gave me peace of mind that my cats were being well cared for as I was traveling. I'm enormously grateful for Christine's help, and I highly recommend working with her!”

“Cara did a great job taking care of my cat while I was away! I really appreciated her thoughtful updates about how he was doing, and she made me feel better knowing that he was under her care. She was a consistent and reliable caretaker.”

“If we could leave more than 5 stars we would. Alyssa gave good vibes dome the jump. Once the visits started we got follow-up questions, plenty of photos, and updates, Alyssa was a phenomenal sitter with great communication. We could tell the kitties were in such great hands, because they didn't even run up to the door for cuddles when we got home. That has never happened. We appreciated the care Alyssa took to sweep up the litter too because no other rover sitter we've had has done that.”

About: Most people who watch pets learned to love animals as adults. I didn't have that learning curve — I grew up with dogs, cats, reptiles, and insects from age 5, which means I've been reading animal behavior my whole life. I notice things: a subtle shift in posture, eating less than usual, a dog that's friendly but actually anxious underneath. That kind of attention comes from decades of hands-on experience, not a weekend certification. I'm also comfortable with animals that other sitters turn away. High-energy breeds, strong personalities, dogs with a history — I've handled them. I grew up around pit bulls, rottweilers, and boxers, so I'm not rattled by size or intensity. For senior dogs, I understand that slower doesn't mean less — they need more patience, more observation, and a sitter who notices when something's off. I give that naturally. What you won't get with me is performative care. No staged photos where your dog looks confused on a couch. Real walks, real attention, real updates — because I actually enjoy this. Animals have always been a constant in my home — I've kept reptiles, invertebrates, and aquatic species, so feeding schedules, habitat checks, and daily observation are just part of my natural routine. Adding a dog or cat to that rhythm is natural. Boarded pets get morning and evening walks, meals on their schedule, and company throughout the day. I work from home most days, so your pet isn't sitting alone — they're in the room with me. In my home, boarded dogs get their own space to decompress when they need it, plus free roam once they're comfortable. I match energy — calm dogs get quiet time, high-drive dogs get real exercise. Cats get a separate setup with vertical space and zero forced interaction. I follow whatever routine the owner sends me: feeding times, dietary restrictions, medication, quirks. At a client's home I treat it like a trust exercise — everything stays exactly as the owner left it, and I send photo updates so they're never wondering.

“Went above and beyond taking care of my two cats! I felt so comfortable (and happy!) with the care she gave them between lots of extra love, fixing the litter robot (thanks again! lol), and great reports that let me know everything going on with them. Will definitely have her help watch them again for me!”

“Nick took excellent care of my two cats for 10 days while I was out of town. He is kind, caring, responsible, communicative, and great with cats. My normally shy senior cat was immediately comfortable with him, and Nick was extremely patient and sensitive to the needs of my rescued feral kitten who is very scared of people. I highly recommend Nick's services; your pets will be in good hands!”

“Zsa Zsa was so warm and caring and was responsive under a short turnaround time, as well as was able to extend the booking under short notice. Would definitely book again. Thank you so much, Zsa Zsa!”

“Laura was immediately such a calming presence to us and our cats when we met her. Even our scaredy cat didn’t run away like usual! Despite us contacting her fairly last minute, Laura was accommodating and responsible, paying attention to every detail about our cats’ care. We will definitely be booking Laura again and highly recommend.”

I attune to every personality well: I love snuggling with the snuggly ones, take care around skittish ones, and everything in between. I am punctual and respectful your time and space.

“Maya is a wonderful dog sitter & human! She took such good care of my senior dog, especially after I told her about some recent health issues he’s experiencing. She kept a close eye on him, keeping him super safe & keeping me updated throughout the day. Thank you so much Maya, for loving my baby and keeping him safe!”

“Sarah was wonderful with Bijou! He is a well-behaved dog but has a ton of energy, and it was clear that Sarah understood his personality perfectly. You could easily tell from the pictures she shared that he was having a blast. She took him on a couple of walks, and he came home completely happy and tired out from all the fun. I highly recommend Sarah for doggy day care and will definitely use her services again!”

“We had a great first daycare with Nikolai! He is very responsive and easy to coordinate with. It was nice to know Jax was having a fun day with other dogs and nice people. Excited to go back again!!”

“Latricia is a wonderful pet sitter. She made me and my family feel comfortable from the time we met her. She was super professional and invited us in with open arms. I felt totally safe leaving my two French bulldogs with her and will definitely be booking her again.”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs since I was a kid. We always had pets growing up. I work from home and watch one dog at a time, giving them the attention and care they need. I work from home with a flexible schedule, so I have plenty of time for walks, play, and pets. I am able to accommodate to the dog’s that I’m watching schedule. I live in a dog friendly neighborhood that is great for walks. I make sure dogs are well fed and will cook for them if needed/wanted. I am also comfortable giving dogs medication they may need.
“Mary is super attentive and caring. She gave detailed updates about how she was doing and sent lots of photos in which Shanti looks happy and relaxed, enjoying the company of her fur baby, Murphy. When I arrived at her place to pick her up. she was already standing in front of her apartment building so that I didn't have to wait for her to come out. So Sweet! I'd definitely ask her to look after my dog again in a heartbeat!”

“Ashley helped us out in a pinch and exceeded our expectations! She cared for our dog and quickly helped acclimate our anxious dog. We’ll definitely be asking Ashley for services in the future! Thanks for loving our pup like your own :)”

“If you're anything like me, the guilt of being away at work all day weighs on me, but knowing that instead, my fur-baby is now getting tons of attention, pets, walks, and love puts my mind at ease. Getting cuddles from Van Joseph and Matthew, the company of their sweet little dogs, and soft blankets to sleep in is priceless! I got so many precious photos which brightened my day! Overjoyed to have found Van Joseph and Matthew to care for my sweet girl Petunia!!”

About: As a dedicated and experienced pet sitter, I am passionate about providing the best care possible for all types of pups. As a specialized pet sitter for bully breeds and small dogs, I understand the unique needs and quirks of these adorable dogs. With years of experience and a deep love for all things pup, I am committed to providing the highest level of care and attention to your furry friend. Everything from numerous short walks and playtime (temperature permitting) to feeding and medication administration, you can trust me to provide reliable and compassionate care for your dog. I am dedicated to ensuring your pet feels safe, happy, and loved while you're away. My home has ramps to access all furniture and gates to prevent pups from running up and down stairs to protect their spines and potential IVDD flare ups. Our morning starts off with a walk around the neighborhood, then it’s breakfast time which means training and play with positive reinforcement! Your pup then has playtime with toys and with my dog Penelope if they are up for it or can snooze away. We then take a quick walk during lunch to stretch our legs and say hi to our friends at Rocky’s. After work we love to be in nature and hit the trails or parks to get some steps in! After dinner I love nothing more than to cuddle with the pups on my couch before bed! We have an outdoor deck that the dogs always have access to. Mostly serves as a sunbathing lounge 😎. The deck is also equipped with grass patches for easy potty breaks. Your pup with have the company of my dog, Penelope. She is a playful and well behaved French bulldog. I have a robust routine for her to keep her healthy and prevent her from being affected from her predisposed IVDD. I can easily incorporate any special needs or request that your day may need.
“Couldn’t be more grateful and happy with Simone taking great care of our baby pup. I loved how she was very thoughtful going out of her way to go to the pet store to get treats for Nyla since I forgot to pack some. Nyla looked like she was having fun and had a great time from the pictures and video updates from Simone. So glad I chose her to watch Nyla. Will definitely rebook her whenever we need someone to watch and take care of our puppy. 🤎”

About: I had a dog for 15 years and while we are holding out on getting a new one for a few years till we stop traveling so much, we would love to hang with yours periodically when in town! We have a fenced in yard to throw a ball in (and a six and nine year old who never tire in doing so) and love taking walks to all the local Piedmont parks with a pup. My husband is mildly allergic, so unfortunately only able to take in non shedding, hypoallergenic poodle type mixes. And of course dogs need to be kid friendly, but my kiddoes are very sweet and gentle with dogs and will give the dogs lots of pets and affection in return. My husband and I both predominately work from home so there's always someone around to love on a furry friend or take a break to get outside for a walk. I predominately work from home and I love frequent walks with a pup. We live close to many Piedmont parks which is a great place to go and visit other dogs or just explore some new grounds. I have a fenced yard and loving older gentle children who adore pets. I can crate your dog if desired to sleep, but also have an 8 year old that would be very happy to snuggle if preferred. You can trust that we will care for your pups as if they are our very own family dog for the duration of their stay.

About: I’ve been around animals my entire life and grew up with two cats and a dog. Today, I have two cats of my own and understand how important it is to find someone you can trust with your pets. I’m also available on weekends with advance notice, although my weekend availability can vary depending on personal and school commitments. I do my best to communicate clearly and respond promptly so we can find a schedule that works well for you and your pet. I understand that trust is one of the most important parts of pet care. When caring for pets, I take the time to learn their routines, preferences, and any special instructions so they feel comfortable and secure. I prioritize safety, consistency, and clear communication, and I’m happy to provide updates and photos while you’re away. “Tim provided wonderful care for my puppy during a difficult time. They understood her needs, communicated clearly, were really respectful of my home. I noticed that they remembered specific concerns I had made sure to keep those im mind. I also appreciated the thoughtful pictures they sent and their intentionality in the details they provided about how the care went and how much puppy was doing. Thank you, Tim!”

“Sara is so awesome! My anxious dog usually takes a few times meeting with someone to feel aquatinted, but my pup felt comfortable the first walk with Sara. He now is so excited to see her and spend time during walks. I feel great knowing she understands his needs and I am very grateful to have found her. 10/10”

“Shelly did a great job with our needy little princess. Our dog can be shy with new people and get into trouble on walks but she handled it well and was very flexible with schedule changes.”

We really appreciated Richard's timely communication and engaging updates. We even got a helpful doggy report card at the end of our vacation! Moro looks forward to spending more time with Richard in the future.”

“Emily is so lovely! She is very patient, flexible and clearly works very well with dogs of all temperaments. One of my dogs is a bit of a special one-requires a specific approach and Emily was very easy to chat with and willing to take on a bit of a challenge. She was super friendly and sent amazing pictures of the pups. It was my first time trying Rover and I will definitely do it again, especially with Emily!”

About: I specialize in overnight, in-home pet sitting so your dog can stay relaxed and comfortable in their own space while you’re away. I bring a calm, grounded presence and focus on keeping your pet’s routine consistent—walks, meals, and quiet time—so they feel secure and settled. This is especially helpful for dogs who are anxious, sensitive, older, or simply happiest at home. I stay overnight and provide a steady, reliable presence in your home. I treat your space with care and respect, and I communicate clearly so you always know how your pet is doing. I’m a great fit for: * Dogs who prefer staying at home rather than boarding * Anxious or sensitive dogs * Senior pets or those with established routines * Multi-pet households I currently work from home and have a flexible schedule, which allows me to be present and attentive throughout the day. I’ve lived in California for nearly 20 years and recently spent six years in my native Norway. My background in research has made me detail-oriented, responsible, and thoughtful in how I care for both animals and people’s homes. I’m happy to follow detailed instructions and keep things the way you like them. My goal is simple: you come home to a happy, settled pet and a well-cared-for, clean home. I genuinely enjoy the quiet rhythm of house sitting and the chance to give pets steady, attentive care. I work part time remotely, so I can schedule my time around pet sits and taking care of animals. I can work with weekdays as well as weekends, mornings or evenings. Being in your home I would follow the instructions you give me, whether that’s feeding or walking times. I work from home, and enjoy having pets around. I ensure the pet is feeling safe and tended to, and show care for them (as they may wonder who the stranger is). I am clean and organized, and take care of your home in the way I would care for my own home. I’m also a good communicator and will send you photos of us!
About: Looooove animals, especially cats. Grew up surrounded by them at my grandma’s little farm, then when my mom and I lived in the city. Didn’t matter where; we always had pets. Recently moved to Oakland to be near my sister, and now working as a personal assistant to one family. Worked as a hotel trainer for many years and this is the first time I have some extra time. And I thought to myself, what better way to have fun with the extra hours than to meet the pets in Oakland! I am experienced in taking care of cats and dogs, from feeding to grooming to playtime and walks as well as giving pills and trimming nails. I can do drop-in visits with your furbabies or walk your doggies anytime before 9am or after 330pm on weekdays, and any time at all on weekends. I make them feel special and loved during drop-in visits. Lots of pets and scritches and if allowed, belly rubs and brushing. Maybe a treat or two, some play time. I typically follow the pet parents instructions on feeding, grooming, etc. And making sure their fur baby is well.
“Robin has been great at communicating quickly, getting to know my doggo, and gaining his trust! He’s a pandemic puppy so isn’t used to a dog walker. I’m so glad she’s been able to get him going as I start to go back to work.”

“We couldn’t have asked for better care for Kiko! Megan and Jenny were so flexible, thoughtful, and sent us lots of updates, which gave us so much peace of mind. Kiko was clearly in great hands — we’re so grateful and would absolutely recommend them to anyone!”

“Angela was a wonderful host for Mango! Our dog had a great time, got plenty of pets, lots of play time and walks. We also received updates throughout the stay that made us feel very comfortable. Highly recommend!”

“Rob was a fantastic host to my shy/reserved dog Nico. I was sent updates, photos, and was reassured about how well he was doing as it was Nico's first time boarding.”

“My cat loves staying with Alexandra. Every time I board with her I always know the kitty will be comfortable and happy. She always sends me plenty of photos and updates and is responsive and communicative. It really makes the stress of traveling a lot more bearable to not have to worry about how my cat is doing! Thank you Alexandra!”

“Our pup had a great time with this loving family! Maria is very communicative and sent updates throughout the stay, and the girls are so sweet and gentle with our dog! I’m sure she’ll be excited to see them again!”
“Chad was lovely with our two dogs - dealt calmly with our nervous older boy, and the younger dog had a good time playing outside. Very accommodating with a lot of last-minute rescheduling, and the atmosphere is just what our dogs feel comfortable: a family home, where they can nap on the couch and potter about.”

“Once again, Ben and his family too such good care of our dog Hank. Ben and his family treat Hank like he’s one of their own. From the moment we drop him up to when we pick him up we can relax knowing he’s in excellent care. We couldn’t recommend Ben and his family more!”

“Spunky did a trial overnight stay and Joann was super sweet and welcoming! I got regular updates, photos, and could tell that my dog was truly comfortable and well cared for.”

“Robert and Brian were incredibly accommodating of me and Riley, kept me super up to date on Riley's day to day, gave her tons of attention, and were very easy to work with. They are very respectful of my needs and Riley's during the stay. Very grateful to have booked with them, I will definitely be working with them again in the future”

“I could not be more pleased and appreciative of how well Kristen and Ryan took care of my Solo. This is the longest I have been out of town in a while and I wanted Solo to be in a comfortable and secure place and with people that will look after her as if she was their own. Kristen and Ryan did that for sure. They kept me well informed of how Solo was doing and it really looked like Solo enjoyed her time with them. I highly recommend Kristen and Ryan and will defiantly book any future pet sitting I need with them.”

“Meera was great to work with, very responsive and flexible and sent lots of photos. Took Luna for nice long hikes and was thoughtful enough to ask about allergies before giving any new treats. Would book again!”

“Nasreddine was amazing! Went above and beyond to make sure our pup was cared for, even after flights were delayed and we had to add an additional last minute evening and afternoon of care. Judging by the pictures, Lemon warmed right up in her space and felt comfortable enough for many a cuddle. Thanks for the help!”

About: I love to run! I love to run with dogs! The more the merrier. I will tire your dog out on runs around North Oakland and South Berkeley. How it works: my dog and I run to your house, pick up your dog and take them on a run! I've been running with my dog for the last three years. Also I'll watch your dog over the weekend! I work 9-5, but am around for the weekends! I do walks 3x a day and our fenced in back yard is perfect for dogs to run around and smell! Running is a blast! We stop to smell, sometimes the dog park, sometimes the hills! It's always fun! I can do a short 20 minute run all the way up to 15 miles, depending on your dogs energy and stanima. If your dog hasn't gone running before, no problem!
