I grew up with dogs from infancy, and my first dog was a German Shepherd named Pooch who joined our family when I was still a baby. We grew up together, and he remained my best friend until we were both 14, when he crossed the rainbow bridge. Dogs have been a huge part of my life ever since. At 12 years old, I started my own dog walking business and volunteered with local rescues before eventually founding my own nonprofit, Akira Animal Rescue, which focuses on medical dogs and puppies. Growing up, I also cared for dogs of all sizes, breeds, and temperaments — including a rescued street dog, a Pomeranian mix, and a Lhasa Apso. Having both large and small dogs throughout my life helped me understand different energy levels, personalities, and care needs from an early age. My senior dog Akira developed liver disease and seizures later in life, and I helped manage his care and medications until he peacefully crossed the rainbow bridge in 2024. Akira inspired my rescue work and deepened my understanding of anxious, reactive, and medically sensitive dogs. When I met him at 7 years old, he struggled with resource guarding and trust issues, but over time he transformed into a calm, loving dog who slept at our feet every night. In December 2023, we adopted two Siberian Husky littermates who are incredibly social, gentle, and loving with other dogs — especially smaller dogs. I also currently have two sweet foster dogs from my rescue who have been in my care long term. They are the only dogs from my rescue in my home — all others are with other fosters. About: I grew up around animals: cats, a dog, even two gerbils. I also pet-sat for my neighbor while I was in high school. I am lucky now to have a crazy lovebug orange kitty named Mr. Buttons. He sadly has no interest in being around dogs or other cats, so I have to look outside our home to satisfy my love for them. I am as trustworthy as they come, and I believe pet care should come above all else. About: I am often the friend/family member my people call to pet sit! After a major life event, I have much more flexibility and want to help care for animals. Give them as much joy and love as they give me! I have a full time job but I sadly no longer have pets so I’d love to use any free time or flex time to be around all the fur babies! About: Hello! I am Kelly & I’m a HUGE animal lover. I have a pup of my own, Sandy. She’s a loving & sweet Maltipoo. I’ve had her since she was only 1 month old & she’s turning 4yrs in late September. Ever since I’ve adopted her, she’s turned my life around in the best way possible. She has made me a dog mom & I wouldn’t want it any other way. She’s very well trained & behaved which is something I’m really proud of. She’s made so many other fur friends & they have play dates very often to help socialize & exercise. One of my neighbors has 3 dogs in total & my other neighbors only have 1 dog. My neighbor with 3 dogs has 1 senior pup, 1 adult pup, and 1 2yrs old pup. The senior pup does take medication so whenever I pup sit, I ensure her medication is given to her with no problem. My other neighbors with the 1 pup on the other hand, have a very energetic pup so playtime & walks are crucial. I ensure to take him on long walks around our neighborhood & give him lots of playtime with Sandy - which always ends up in nap time. Looking after them truly brings so much joy to my life & I am very thankful for their parents (my neighbors) trust in me to pup sit their fur babies. About: As a human race, we're lucky to have these wonderful creatures. Unfortunately, my fiancee and I don't have the space for our own pooch and would welcome the opportunity to meet as many of these beautiful animals as possible. For years, I've worked from home and my fiancee has a surprisingly flexible schedule. Essentially, it would fit wonderfully into our schedules and be a welcome responsibility. First and foremost, we would take care of the pets according to the owner's instructions and needs (and pets needs). Secondly, we provide a warm, loving, safe, and comfortable home for pets. He’s high energy and loves to play so sometimes comes in hot with others. Please let me know if there have been any issues with that with your dog. I had a little one for 14 years so comfortable with all sizes of dogs- I love them all. My schedule is pretty flexible and I will definitely try to accommodate your timing needs. I am home most of the day Tues-Fri. My husband is home on weekends and can be WFH flexible on Mondays for dog care as needed. Our golden, Toby, always gets a walk in the morning and plays throughout the day. Access to the fenced backyard is available all day. I have a fenced front and back yard. Dogs have access to the backyard all day when we’re home, and will be encouraged to go potty before we leave to go anywhere. No unsupervised front yard time, but if we’re doing stuff, they can hang out. We can crate other dogs, but Toby does not get crated, so happy to cover the crate to reduce fomo!

“We have only left our dog with anyone else once, nearly a year after adopting him. It was a disaster because of his severe separation anxiety. When we met Sandi and her husband Jeff the first time, our dog was very relaxed and more friendly and affectionate than he ever is with new people. He seemed very comfortable in their home and their yard and we were relieved to have found a place that we felt comfortable trying again. During the 2 days and nights we were away, we were certain he would need to be given CBD or tranquilizers to keep him calm, but he didn't need them! He missed us but did not exhibit the behavior he had before and Sandi and Jeff said that he was happy at his chosen place in the window or on his bed in front of the fireplace, and responded to their affection. I can't say how relieved we are to have found a solution for our occasional needs to visit places where he can't come with us. Sandi made us feel confident that she could handle his anxiety, and she clearly made him feel more at ease and relaxed. I loved the photos she sent, updating us several times over the couple of days we were gone, and we will definitely call again the next time we leave town. What a relief!”
