“I give Lena my highest recommendation as a dog sitter! I am writing this review in reference to our experiences on two separate occasions. The first time we had Lena sit for our dog Daisy (a 4 yo pit mix) was a great experience. We always look for someone to watch Daisy who enjoys spending time with her and wants to have fun and Lena went above and beyond by not only taking Daisy on walks but also all sorts of hikes and adventures (we even got a cool photo of her wearing sunglasses!). Lena also dealt with some issues of Daisy having to go potty in the middle of the night very competently and professionally. She watched Daisy for 11 days and Daisy was well taken care of and happy when we picked her back up. The second time we had scheduled with Lena to watch Daisy for one night and Lena had a family emergency come up (a totally valid reason to cancel). Instead of simply leaving it to us to find a backup, Lena helped coordinate with her roommate to watch Daisy, which worked out great. Lena that she is not only able to take great care of dogs, but she is also a thoughtful and responsible person.”

About: Animals have been at the heart of my life for as long as I can remember. Raised on a farm and on a pre-vet track from a young age, I’ve spent decades caring for animals of all kinds—from house pets to livestock to wildlife. Starting at 14, I volunteered in local vet clinics and wildlife rehab centers, gaining hands-on experience with everything from cats and dogs to peacocks, horses, goats, snakes, fish, birds, and cattle. At UC Davis, I deepened my care skills while working at the world-renowned Vet Hospital, tending to cats and dogs during the swing shift. I also worked with campus goats, pigs, sheep, fish, cattle, and horses—and even fostered cats for the hospital. About: I have always been taking care of neighbors dogs and cats whenever they are away on vacation ever since I was young. I also have experience taking care of my own pets making sure they have all the exercise and attention needed. I previously was a vet assistant so am familiar with any medication needs. About: I have a wide range of dog experience. Puppies, seniors, reactive, and medicated ones. I am fear free certified and have taken many animal classes and animal behavior classes for my animal science major. Outside of a classroom setting I have worked in a shelter where I was a medical volunteer. This required me to work with dogs that I had no insight to a lot of the dog’s background and always stayed aware of their behavior. A lot of the bigger dogs I worked with were abused, abandoned, or injured and having to work with animals that have trauma like that is heartbreaking but also can affect their behavior towards people. That being said I had to work with dogs that were more challenging and more often than not were labeled aggressive but were actually just scared. I have house sat friends and families before and always send an absurd amount of photos to owners of their fur baby (that’s at least what I prefer) and I have no problem communicating any uncertainties, questions, or concerns to an owner. I would rather be safe than sorry always. I do not have a lot of senior care experience but would love to learn. I took care of a few cases where there were medications twice daily but I know there are more extreme senior care situations I won’t pretend to know how to do but I am eager to do my research and learn from the owner! Fairly flexible. I am a full time student at UC Davis but I have a schedule that can accommodate a lot of needs. The only thing I have no power over is when I have my finals but I will be on top of my calendar and availability I take the better safe than sorry approach when caring for any pet whether it is someone else’s or my own. I will do my research on something I am unsure about which is the reason I have learned so much about my own pet’s compromised immune system. This is why I will not be housing any pets myself but I have practiced many different bio security measures and feel confident all animals will be safe and happy. I am a big communicator and if I have concerns questions or uncertainties I will not hesitate to just ask.

She has been our weekly dog walker for a little over 6 months--Our dog is a rescue and was quite difficult in the beginning, but Esmerilda has done a lot to help train and rehabilitate her. About: I have taken care of two cats since 2023, and have lived with two dogs in my family home since 2020. I absolutely love dogs and cats, and am willing to care for your pets with the same attention that I give my own animals! Growing up with different pets from fish, crabs, parakeets and hamsters is where my love for animals comes from and am excited to express that love in a way that is helpful to the community around me! “I give Lena my highest recommendation as a dog sitter! I am writing this review in reference to our experiences on two separate occasions. The first time we had Lena sit for our dog Daisy (a 4 yo pit mix) was a great experience. We always look for someone to watch Daisy who enjoys spending time with her and wants to have fun and Lena went above and beyond by not only taking Daisy on walks but also all sorts of hikes and adventures (we even got a cool photo of her wearing sunglasses!). Lena also dealt with some issues of Daisy having to go potty in the middle of the night very competently and professionally. She watched Daisy for 11 days and Daisy was well taken care of and happy when we picked her back up. The second time we had scheduled with Lena to watch Daisy for one night and Lena had a family emergency come up (a totally valid reason to cancel). Instead of simply leaving it to us to find a backup, Lena helped coordinate with her roommate to watch Daisy, which worked out great. Lena that she is not only able to take great care of dogs, but she is also a thoughtful and responsible person.”

I graduated from UC Davis with a B.S. in Wildlife, Fish, and Conservation Biology and am in search of dog walking, training, bathing, and pet sitting positions to help me pay off student loans. Aspiring veterinarians usually know they have a special gift with animals as a child, as I discovered at the age of 7. Thus, I have been involved in the husbandry of my own dogs, cats, and exotic animals the majority of my life! Due to my extensive experience as a lab animal technician, kennel attendant, and shelter volunteer, I have 6 years of professional experience in animal husbandry. During the year of the notorious Camp Fire, I worked as a veterinary assistant at the UC Davis Veterinary Medicine Teaching Hospital to 4th year veterinary students with disabilities during their clinical year. As their "right hand woman", I provided various accommodations for physical and intellectual limitations in order to facilitate their success. I was directly involved with the treatment of animal patients in ophthalmology, cardiology, community practice, community surgery, companion avian and pet exotics, dentistry, dermatology, internal medicine, neurology, shelter medicine & surgery, anesthesia, behavior, and nutrition. About: I have been around pets ever since I can remember and probably had around 10 in my life so far. I’ll be attentive, caring and sweet with your little friends, bringing them the comfort and calm they need when you’re not home ❤️ I’m currently a student at UC Davis with a part-time job, so I will be available for pet sitting every other day normally after 12pm (noon) I can easily find a space in your home where the pet feels more at comfort and I’ll act quickly and proactively when I notice something is needed.
