“Laura was brilliant with Lola, took very good care of her and had excellent communication with us. We would definitely recommend, and will be booking Lola in with Laura again next time we are in the area”

“I was looking for an alternative to kennels for my 19 month old French bulldog x and came across rover. I carefully looked through all the potential pet sitters (after putting in all my requirements) and came across Mat, he was really friendly and answered any questions I had, we had a meet and greet which went very well (my dog was welcomed with open arms the minute we got there) and even though I was nervous, as this was my dogs first stay away with strangers, I really didn’t need to be. Mat and his family took very good care of my dog, over the four night stay he was there, and sent me pictures every day of him to keep my mind at peace. When I went to pick to my dog up he was very happy and chilled out and dare I say didn’t want to leave. I would highly recommend Mat and his family to look after your furry friend and I will definitely be rebooking with Mat in the future.”

“Shaun & his family were amazing! They couldn’t have been more accommodating and were really flexible through out. We received plenty of updates and she was made to feel right at home with them. They are an absolute credit to dog lovers and you can guarentee they will be spoilt the whole time. Thank you so much, we will certainly book again.”
“Louise took Winnie for me very last minute due to personal bereavement and she was so lovely and very responsive. They live in a beautiful farmhouse with so much land with a fully protective garden. I got sent plenty of photos and Winnie was very loved and looked after by the family. I highly recommend Louise to look after your furry loved ones and thank you again!”

“Absolutely brilliant. Tobias kept us well informed, as often as we asked, as to how our dog was getting on, with texts and video. Our dog came home happy and healthy, having enjoyed lots of attention whilst staying with Tobias and his family. The property is safe and secure, leaving us confident to leave our dog with Tobias.”

“Our boy Labradoodle, Aslan, felt immediately at home in Carolyn's house. Sometimes he takes a while to warm up to the sitters that we leave him with but that was not the case at all. She was very accommodating to our hectic pickup and drop off schedule. Though we always miss him when we're on holiday, we never felt too far away from our boy with the plethora of pictures and videos that were sent to us throughout the day.”

“Ernie had a lovely time with Gabriella. She kept me up to date while I was away and sent me pics and videos. She took him out on lovely walks and was very caring of him. Thanks so much! Ernie can be nervous around other dogs, she was very considerate of this too which put my mind at ease. Would 100% recommend. Thank you!”

“Our high spirited lab puppy Rocky was very well looked after and had a great time with Juno. Paulo and Francisco were excellent- great communication and kindly sent us photos too which were very much appreciated. Rocky is really looking forward to his next stay.”

“Dot was very happy with Abby and it sounded like she ruled the roost and was treated as one of their own dogs. Abby messaged me while we were away to let me know that she, was OK which was very reassuring.”

About: I am an avid animal lover. I love to be outside in nature and will regularly take your dog to the beach/forest/long walks (with your permission) . I will send you photo/video updates to ensure you know your dog is being looked after correctly. I am currently lucky enough to not have to work so I have plenty of free time to make time/play with your best friend! I’m extremely flexible. I do around 10-16 thousand steps a day. You will be asked for your email address once booking is confirmed to fill out if you are a new client. This is to ensure your dog gets the correct care and is looked after to the best of my ability. If your dog wants to come on a mini holiday they can stay over for lots of attention and lots of extra strokes and treats are a given. I'm happy to send photos/feedback from other clients.

“Eva was brilliant, she took Terry at short notice and from the moment he arrived he was relaxed so I had no problem leaving him. I received messages regularly which reassured me he was doing fine while with Eva. I would definitely book again if needed.”

“Victoria is an amazing lady. She catered for all of Megs needs and more besides..Meg adored staying with her and family would not hesitate to leave her again. Thankyou Victoria 💐”

“Alex and her family looked after Sonny for three days while we were away, and we couldn't have asked for better care. We received daily updates and photos, which gave us complete peace of mind. Sonny was clearly very happy, well looked after, and treated as part of the family. He enjoyed regular walks, including lovely walks in the forest, and it was wonderful to see him having such a great time. Alex was caring, reliable, and attentive to all of Sonny's needs. We are incredibly grateful for the love and care Sonny received and would highly recommend Alex and her family to anyone looking for a safe, caring, and trustworthy home for their pet.”

“I couldn’t be happier with the care Paulina provided for my dog! I could tell she genuinely loves animals. She sent regular updates, including photos and messages, which really put my mind at ease while I was away. My dog came home happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for. I’ll definitely be booking with her again.”

About: I’ve owned dogs and other animals my whole life, training them from both 8 week old puppies and rescue dogs of various ages. I currently don’t have the capacity to own my own pet but still want that unconditional human animal interaction. I’m more than happy to train young pets and take your pets on as long a walk as you’d like. I’m new to the pet sitter career but I’ve been looking after pets unpaid my whole life. I also work in conservation so my heart is in animals and wildlife. I’m currently working 9-5 weekdays in conservation but I can give my whole weekend and Friday evening to your dog, taking it on walks, training it or just letting it chill out. I live in a very quiet area with my partner with a garden and a big green behind my house. Your dog would even have its own sanctuary bedroom for it to have some of its own time to decompress if needed. I have a fenced garden but unfortunately not dog proof yet but I can take your dog on plenty of walks and runs and out on the village green on a lead. Your dog would be my main priority and I wouldn’t leave it alone if you didn’t want me to.
“Domonic took excellent care of my dog who seemed perfectly content and happy to share his home. Pep’s was only there for 32 hours, during that time I received one or two photos showing my ultra relaxed doggie 🐕🐾”

“They are fantastic people; Balto and Ettore had a wonderful time. Hannah fed them and took Balto out every day. We stayed in touch, and she always let me know how my pets were doing; I am very happy and would absolutely recommend her! P.S.: They have a beautiful cat named Lu ❤️”

“Sonny & Luna our sproker spaniels had a lovely 1 night stay with William and his wife. From arrival Sonny & Luna were able to go searching and sniffing freely in the large garden and house. Sonny quickly found the toy box and played one of his favourite games of emptying it one toy at a time and hiding them around the garden. They were taken on walks and we had videos and photos sent to us regularly over the 24 hours. Thank you William, I would definately recommend and confidently use you again to care for my spaniels”

Rocky was very well cared for and looked after and it was lovely to get photos and video of how he was getting on as well as regular communication from Paulo. We could see that he was very happy and had enjoyed his stay with Juno. We will certainly book again. Many thanks Paulo and Francisco.

Paulo and Francisco were amazing with my dog Purdey- she’s scared of everything and can be grumpy with other dogs but they put me at ease on the meet and greet and then when I dropped Purdey off for her stay. They kept me updated throughout the sit with photos and information about how she was getting on, eating, sleeping and I enjoyed receiving pictures of her. Purdey seems to have enjoyed her stay and I will certainly be going back to Paulo and Francisco in the future- thank you so much to you both!

Paulo and Francisco were amazing with Bella, making her feel so comfortable and welcome. Sometimes she won't eat when staying away from home but the fact she ate and ate well, even having her treats was a sign of how relaxed and safe she felt. Cant thank them enough. Best wishes, Stephan

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in East of England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
