“Super quick to respond, friendly and kind. I was nervous cuz I’d never boarded our dog with a stranger and he doesn’t always like other dogs. But she was patient with him, and he even played with one of her dogs! She was great about sending updates and pictures and letting me know how he was doing.”

“Erin, Chris and family took such great care of our Sadie when we were out of state for the holiday! They welcomed her as if she was part of the family! Our girl had so much fun playing with their dog in the backyard and even a couple of other dogs that were visiting at the same time. We appreciate all the love they provided and we will without question be back again soon! 😍”

“Oscar always has a blast with Casandra. It’s wonderful knowing that when we go on vacation Oscar gets to have a vacation as well. He is always very excited to meet new friends and get pampered.”

About: I have always had a dog in the house growing up. I have two dogs myself and love them like they are my own kids. I’ve had experience with special needs dogs that can’t be around other dogs as well. I’m a stay at home mom so I’m home all day and almost always available. I can take your dog potty as much as necessary and provide special care if instructed. Furthermore, I can stay with them all day and provide love, attention, and lots of treats! I can also help reinforce good behaviors if you’d like! I have two friendly dogs that are great with kids and other dogs. They are well behaved and can safely socialize with your fur baby. Your fur baby would be loved like they’re family!
About: Hi, I'm Emily! I'm not just a dog lover - I've been a dog mom to just about every size and personality. Over the years I've had a Chihuahua, Lab, Olde English Bulldog, American Staffordshire amd now we have an American Bully. I’m very comfortable with strong, energetic breeds as well as tiny lap dogs who think they run the house. We currently have an 80lb American Bully named Rosco. I particularly love the bully breeds - no judgment, just structure, play, and lots of affection. I know how to read body language for both a nervous 4lb Chihuahua and an 80lb Lab who thinks they’re a lap dog. I’ve cared for a dog who required a strict daily medication routine, so I am meticulous about timing, dosages, and watching for side effects. Pills, liquid meds, special feeding schedules - I’ve done it all and I take it seriously. My home is calm with a structured routine. My husband and I are early to bed and early to rise. I keep a clean but dog-proofed home with a predictable routine for potty breaks, walks, play, and rest. We walk in the mornings and sometimes again in the evening if the weather allows. I only book one client at a time so your pup(s) will get plenty of attention! It’s also important that your dog gets along with mine so I will schedule a meet and greet before we confirm. This helps ensure it’s a good match for everyone. I promise to send lots of updates, photos, and videos so you never worry. Your pup will be treated like family here - safe, loved, allowed on the couch and in the bed and very well cared for while you're away. I have a securely fenced yard and inside my home dogs have plenty of places to lounge, with dog beds, toys, and a quiet areas for naps. My home is non-smoking, no kids. We have one American Bully named Rosco. Rosco is neutered, two years old, about 80 lbs and loves other dogs. Rosco is a high energy dog who does best with dogs who are playful but also tolerant. Rosco also does great with smaller dogs and puppies. I am open to dogs over 40lbs but not more than 75lbs. I never leave dogs unattended without them being kenneled. I am home most of the day but utilize kennels when we’re gone for everyone’s safety. We follow a twice a day feeding schedule and I will gladly follow your instructions to the letter for feeding, crate time, and walks. I’m currently between jobs and have plenty of time for pet care. My husband works during the week and is around in the evenings and the weekends to help care for our pups. I have a fenced in yard a very friendly bulldog named Rosco to keep your pup company. I can also crate your pup if needed.
“Elizabeth was great with Hank! He seemed to love her right from the start. Elizabeth kept us updated the entire time she had him with multiple messages and pictures which was great to see while we were away. I will definitely use Elizabeth again for boarding and she made it super easy with pick up and drop off as well! Definitely a convenient option for us with 4 kids! Thanks again, Elizabeth”

“Cory was very responsive and had great communication before and during Moose’s stay! When we picked up Moose after his stay he was happy and tired. He even got to meet new friends! Cory was easy going and handled my high energy dog well!”

“Butter loved her stay at Ashly’s! Ashly is a professional and we felt instantly comfortable when dropping Butter off. Ashly did a great job following all of our care instructions. Butter had a great time playing with Ashly’s dog and definitely needed a bath from all the fun after we picked her up! Would definitely use Ashly’s services again. Thank you so much!”

“Stefanie was awesome! She agreed to meet with me and my two dogs to see how they did with her and her dog. Everything was fine and she did a great job with them. She did a great job. She sent me a few pics of my dogs chillin and they looked great. I am sure they had a great time. I would recommend Stefanie and will definitely be using her again!”

“Nancy was fantastic and took great care of my baby boy! She was very attentive to his needs, especially giving him his medication multiple times a day. She understands dog behavior and has a pet friendly home. I appreciated the updates with pictures and would definitely recommend her!”

“Maricela was awesome with easing in Sami into her home, giving her space to get used to the new environment. She sent pictures daily and was always incredibly responsive in both the inquiry and once booked. She accommodated our requests and was incredibly friendly. Definitely recommend Maricela if you are looking for someone that will treat your pet as their own!”

“Karina took excellent care of our pup! She sent updates and he looked so happy all the time. Clearly he had plenty of play, exercise, and love! Karina left us worry-free while we traveled and was very flexible with us.”

About: I have dog sat for friends and family for about 20 years. All ages and sizes. I got my own dog about 2 years ago and am interested in getting another dog but would like to see if I can handle more than one. I love being outside and playing with my dog any chance I get. I would love to do the same for other dogs that need attention while their family is away. My dog is very friendly and loves other dogs. We go on daily walks and I try to take him to the dog park three times a week. He is a very active dog so that helps me stay active as well. Its important to keep them out of trouble.
“Elizabeth was a last minute booking for us after all our usual pet friends weren’t available. We were grateful to find her but even more grateful for how wonderful she was with Brody! We loved her updates and Brody seemed to settle in with her and have a nice time.”

“Sarah was great! Her home is conveniently located near the interstate, making it very easy for drop off and pick up. She did a great job welcoming me and meeting my dog on the first day. It was great when she sent me a video of her and her family taking him out for a walk. We will certainly see Sarah again next time we visit Iowa.”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Truro home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Truro.
Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Truro sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
