Cheese Please! Dog Training
I have a long background in training my own dogs using positive reinforcement & am currently in a program that teaches science-backed training methods. I have trained dogs of all sizes & breeds ranging from puppy to disabled seniors & have worked with a similarly diverse group of owners. I have volunteered with Guide Dogs for the Blind for 5 yrs helping train puppies for guide school. I specialize in teaching leash walking & early socialization skills, as well as public access for service dogs. While I walk & teach obedience to aggressive dogs, I do not offer training for aggression.

Consultation
During a consultation we’ll talk about your goals for you and for your pup. If possible, I’d like to see any behaviors that you would like to decrease. I may also ask about your pups health history and current medications or injury/illness. If your pup already has some training, I may ask you to give some background on how well you think past training worked for you or your pup. If your pup has a favorite treat or toy (or several) please bring it to your consultation. After the consultation I’ll message you with a recommendation for training frequency and length.
Sessions
In a typical day training session, I’ll pick up your pup and get straight to work. Each session will have breaks so that your pup has a chance to rest and decompress as they learn. At the end of the session I’ll chat with you or send a message about next steps. An in person session can always be scheduled at any time to make sure you feel comfortable continuing with the behaviors on your own. In person training is similar, but while your pup gets a break, we will be discussing the training and making sure you feel comfortable continuing on your own.
Reviews
Experience
I use your pup’s favorite things to help teach them new behaviors and modify undesirable ones. I primarily use food in my training, but some dogs would rather work for toys or cuddles so I’m happy to do that too. Using positive reinforcement for training leads to happy, healthy pups who want to train and are excited to try new behaviors. I am working towards a CTC from The Academy For Dog Trainers - an organization that teaches science backed training methods.

Availability
I am available primarily weekdays from 10-5 but am willing to be flexible to accommodate all types of schedules. I prefer to do day training - training your pup while you are busy. 5-10 minutes of each session will be dedicated to debriefing the training and discussing your role - or if desired, an additional in person training session can be added. If you are booking in MI - my hours are swapped and I am most available on weekends (except July 4th weekend) through August. I will ONLY be available between July 5 and August 16.
