Dog Refinery
I have over seven years of professional experience working with dogs in a variety of settings. I started in the dog daycare industry where I gained experience managing group dynamics. After two years, I transitioned to working in animal shelters, where I developed and implemented enrichment programs, training, and behavior modification plans. My work focused on supporting dogs with a range of behavioral challenges including fear, reactivity, leash training, basic obedience, house training, and more. I currently posses a CPDT-KA and am working towards a CTC through The Academy for Dog Trainers.

What to expect
Consultation
During our consultation, we will go over what you are struggling with and what you hope to get out of our sessions! Are you hoping for me to train your dog, then show you how to do the commands? Coach you how to train your own dog? Unsure how to manage leash reactivity, chewing, jumping, pulling on leash, fear or anything in between? My goal is to get to know you and your dog, and come up with a plan that works for everyone to address your needs and concerns!
Sessions
After our consultation, I will develop a personalized training plan tailored to you and your dogs needs. In our sessions, we will begin implementing our plan with hands-on training. As we progress, future sessions may take place or transition to outdoor areas to help your dog generalize and strengthen the behaviors we’ve been working on! You’ll be asked to provide high-value treats your dog enjoys, and your level of involvement during sessions is entirely up to you. Between sessions, I will be available to answer questions and help troubleshoot as you continue to practice on your own.
More info
My training philosophy is rooted in positive reinforcement, force-free methods that are in line with learning theory and science-backed practices. This entails using food/toys/praise as reward for desired behaviors, and using prevention and management to curb unwanted behaviors. Additionally, dogs learn best when given choice and consent-I am a strong advocate for meeting your dog where they are at and respecting their comfort level.
