Service and working dog trainer
I have been training dogs since I was a teenager and have experience with canines of various breed, size, energy/drive, and temperment. I have taught canines and their handlers/owners various skills beyond basic and advanced (off-leash) obedience, including tracking, detection, and retrieval work for both dog sports and in their professional working capacities. In addition, I train service dogs for a non-profit organization that pairs them with veterans in need.
What to expect
Consultation
For a consultation, I want to understand what you are looking for in the relationship between you and your dog. I have a list of questions and perhaps a few tests or tasks that may be performed so I can get a guage on what we are looking at, so I can better serve and facilitate the resolution of any issues and determine the best methods of training or instruction to provide.
Sessions
Building upon or creating a solid bond between you and your dog is a main priority, as that is where the trust and understanding is going to come from for any training skill we may focus on for each session. Part of that is me teaching you how to train your dog, as not every method I pass along to you will work with every dog. Now that does mean I may give you homework, but I promise I will make sure it's fun. 😁

Experience
Much like people, every dog is different. What motivates them, influences their behaviors, and builds the bond between us and our companions can vary drastically based on breed, age, sex, life experience, and lifestyle compatibility. I always aim to find and utilize the best methods, rewards, activities, and social pairings to ensure a successful life for everyone involved.

Availability
I have a relatively flexible schedule, blocking out time based on need and filling the gaps with continual training of my working dogs and service dogs in-training. The dogs I train typically get started at 6am, but I have no issues with consultations or training sessions in the mid or late afternoon.
