Train People -> Train Dogs!
What makes my training program different is the level of comprehension I try to provide. If my pet parents are unable to replicate what I have just shown them, I consider it a failed session. Therefore, I need to connect the dots in a very explicit manner for my pet parents. The biggest piece of feedback that strokes my ego is when a Pet Parent expresses something like “I’ve worked with other trainers and no one ever explained it that way.”

What to expect
Consultation
During a consult, I ask lots of questions about the pet parent, as well as their dog’s known history. I define goals and set expectations for our outcomes. Then we get to work. I think it is important to always do some work upon first meetings!
Sessions
By day 1 we get hands on! I try to get Luring and Sit (with an implied stay) well under our belt on first meetings. If there are pressing matter like leash work or reactivity needs, we will steer in that direction!
More info
I use positive reinforcement, but I will certainly draw a line in the sand- especially when it comes to legitimate safety concerns. I stick to Fun, Freedom, and Food as points of leverage to achieve good behavior. I love dogs with a fatherly love, and my father always had high expectations for us!
