Reward-Based Dog Training

What sets me apart is my foundation in positive reinforcement training combined with real-world hands-on experience. I successfully completed the GoodPup Certification Program in June 2026 and have trained friends’ dogs using reward-based methods. I also volunteered in animal shelters in Maryland (June 2022–July 2023) and Virginia (Nov 2023–Jan 2024), focusing on dog behavior, walking, enrichment, and behavior observation. While I am early in my professional training journey, I bring strong practical experience, patience, and a genuine passion for helping dogs and their owners succeed.

What to expect

Consultation

During a typical consultation, I learn about your dog’s behavior, routine, and training goals. We discuss any specific challenges and what success looks like for you. I also assess your dog’s motivation using treats, toys, and reinforcement preferences. We then begin working on simple, practical exercises using positive reinforcement. I ask that owners be present and engaged, with high-value treats ready and their dog set up for success. After the session, I provide clear next steps and exercises to practice at home so you can continue building progress between sessions.

Sessions

Typically in your home

A typical training session focuses on 1–2 specific goals, such as leash manners, basic obedience, or behavior challenges. We start by reviewing progress since the last session, then practice structured exercises using positive reinforcement and high-value rewards. I adjust difficulty based on your dog’s progress to ensure success and confidence. Owners should be present, engaged, and have treats ready. After the session, I provide clear feedback and simple exercises to continue practicing at home between sessions.

Positive Reinforcement

My training approach is based on positive reinforcement using high-value treats, praise, and consistency. I work closely with each owner to understand their training goals and tailor sessions to meet their dog’s individual needs. My goal is to create a positive, low-stress learning environment that builds confidence, strengthens the bond between owner and dog, and encourages lasting, reliable behaviors.

Availability

My schedule is currently very flexible. After graduating with my master’s degree in May 2026, I am searching for a full-time position while spending my time doing what I love—dog training, dog walking, and pet sitting. This flexibility allows me to accommodate a variety of scheduling needs, including weekdays, evenings, and weekends whenever possible. I strive to work with each client to find times that are convenient and provide consistent support for both you and your dog.
