Positive Training for Real Life
My approach combines formal training education through GoodPup with extensive hands-on experience working with dogs with different personalities and behavioral needs. I focus on understanding why a behavior is happening, not just stopping it. My goal is to give you practical, positive-reinforcement tools that fit into everyday life and help you better understand and communicate with your dog.
What to expect
Consultation
My consultations take place as 15-minute phone calls. Our consultation is an opportunity for me to get to know you and your dog before we begin training. We’ll talk about your dog’s history, daily routine, current behavior, and what you would most like to change or accomplish. From there, we’ll identify realistic training goals and discuss an initial plan. I’ll explain what I recommend working on first, what you can practice at home, and whether I think additional sessions would be helpful. For behavioral concerns, I may also recommend management strategies you can begin using right away.
Sessions
Sessions are tailored to your dog and your goals. We’ll start with a quick check-in, then work through practical training exercises together. I’ll demonstrate each skill and coach you as you practice so you feel confident continuing at home. We’ll move at your dog’s pace, adjust as needed, and end by reviewing what worked and what to practice before our next session.

Experience
I use reward-based training grounded in positive reinforcement and an understanding of how dogs learn. I focus on teaching dogs what we want them to do rather than punishing unwanted behavior. Training is tailored to the individual dog, including their motivations, environment, and emotional state, and broken into manageable steps that help both dog and owner build confidence and lasting skills.
