Obedience and Manners Trainer
I am different from other trainers as I have a proven track record in AKC competition obedience. My dog has her CD ( companion dog) and CDX(companion dog excellent) titles which means that she is able to maintain focus in high distraction situations and maintains focus while off lead. We are working towards our UD( utility ) title which includes skills such as off leash heeling, performing commands with only hand signals from a distance and scent work.

Consultation
During a consultation I want to understand what the final goal is for the dog. I will want to understand the dogs current behavior and level of training and want to see how the handler interacts with the dog ( rate of reward, timing, etc ). Finally I’ll give the owner an idea of what exercises we will work on with the dog to get the desired outcome.
Sessions
A typical session with me would be to work on the desired skills that the owner wants their dog to learn. I focus on starting with a high level of reward to get the dog excited about training, and always have the dog end on a “high” note. I typically use treats/toys to reward the dog and try to turn all training exercises into a game. I will show the owner how to perform the exercises with their dog and then will have them repeat the exercises with their dog. In between sessions I’ll provide support over text, and will give the owner exercises to work on in the interim.
More info
My methodology is using marker training (sometimes referred to as clicker training) to reward dogs for desired behaviors and for being neutral . I also use shaping to teach dogs new tricks and commands. My focus is primarily on having dogs be calm, controlled and focused on the handler.
