CPDT-KA + Fear Free certified
My past work experience includes 4 years working with behaviorally challenged dogs in a shelter environment. This sets me apart from other trainers because I have a unique perspective for former shelter animals that helps me understand their perspective and potentially traumatic past. I have experience working with shutdown, high anxiety, fearful, and high arousal dogs. I am able to manage these types of behaviors in dogs and help to modify these behaviors using positive associations and giving dogs and pet parents tools to help reduce their unwanted behaviors.

What to expect
Consultation
During our consultation, you can expect to go over your dog's history including their past experiences/socialization, how long you have observed their unwanted behaviors, and what external factors could be contributing. I will ask you to share when your dog was last assessed by a veterinarian, this is because a lot of dog behaviors can be linked to pain or health related diagnosis and I want to make sure I am setting you are your dog up to be successful by ruling out health related factors. Then we will discuss and develop a custom training plan that will cater to your schedule and your goals!
Sessions
First session - meet and greet, basic training methods demonstrated hands on and practicing with pet parent so they can continue training in the home! Develop a better estimate of timeline for meeting desired goals based on dogs motivation and how fast they learn. *Please have your dogs vaccination record. Please let me know where your dog is most comfortable meeting a new person and if any treat restrictions. Between the first and second session I will share a projected session plan customized for your dog based on their how quickly they picked up a new skill in the first session!
More info
Positive reinforcement based methods only! I work with each dog as an individual to find what motivates them. I prefer to include pet parents in the process to better set their dog up to be successful. I cater to the dog as a learner by starting with a low distraction environment and short sessions , this helps your pet have the best retention possible. I like to incorporate play with toys and enrichment into training sessions to keep your pets engagement high. I believe consistency and approaching each dog with a specialized plan that involves the pet parent is the key to successful training!

Availability
I am currently working only as a private trainer and therefore have a lot of flexibility in my day to day schedule! My schedule varies but I am open to blocking off time for multiple sessions a week and regular dog walking + training while we walk! I typically wake up early (6-7am) and like to be home by sunset to care for my cat, I have a car so commuting to in-home pet sittings is no problem!
