I'm very determined when it comes to teaching pets basic obedience. While all of our pets will have their own personalities, as owners, we would all at least like for them to know: sit, stay, and a handful of other things. From puppies who are just starting, to older dogs who are just not quite getting the hang of it, or even the pet parent who just might need an extra tip or two, communication is always key.

Consultation
During your consultation, I'd like to have a completely open discussion about what particular struggles (if any) you may be having with your pet, or, if there is any particular skill set you want your pet to learn? Would you like for me to take the reigns and completely train your pet, or would you like to be more involved and have me show you what techniques I may recommend? Perhaps a blend? Everything is an open book during consultation.
Sessions
Assuming I haven't met your pet in person during the consultation, the first introduction will be very important. Is your pet shy? A little nervous and unsure? They may have to warm up to me, and that's okay! Please make sure that we're doing anything that requires them going outside into public spaces, that they are up to date on their vaccinations. Other than that, we'll hop right in. So if we discussed that Spot the three month old pup needs his first lessons in basic obedience, we're going to start by getting him to focus on us, then moving him into the sit command, and so on.

Positive Reinforcement: This basically means teaching your dog that a desirable behavior is rewarded. I find this method typically works best for myself and those I practice training with.

I do have a part time job, but I do communicate my schedule. I'll be honest with you about if I'm available and if I can work with you during the times you're most free. As I stated earlier, communication is key.
