Train and Board Together
Taking care of a variety of dogs has shown me that even great dogs sometimes experience issues or problems or need to brush up on their skills. I offer training sessions as a flat fee, "add on" service for the dogs I board. Training while boarding allows me to develop a strong relationship with your dog and to address specific goals in multiple sessions over multiple days. At the end of the training/boarding period, I will provide a progress report and follow-up exercises to help you maintain and deepen their new skills and behaviors at home.

What to expect
Consultation
We will have a 15 minute phone or video call to discuss training goals for your dog, any behavioral concerns or issues you would like me to address, training options, and mutual fit. If you decide to book a training session, we will have a second consultation in which I will collect some background information on your dog, including prior training history, home environment and daily routine. Afterwards, I will send you a brief summary of our conversation and agreed upon training goals.
Sessions
A typical session will take place in a quiet space in the home after I have walked and fed your dog. I will start by assessing your dog's familiarity with the training goal. If completely unfamiliar, I will begin by helping them make positive associations with the desired behavior and gradually introduce verbal and visual cues to perform the behavior. The goal is to see them repeat the desired behavior successfully about 8-10 times in each session and to hold sessions at least 3 times a day.
More info
Training requires good communication and developing a positive and productive human-animal bond. I follow a rewards-based approach that enables your dog to make an affirmative choice to perform desirable behaviors. I use praise, treats and games to positively reinforce good behaviors and to redirect unwanted behavior.
