Like a therapist for your dog!
My Fear Free approach with an emphasis on choice and capturing good behavior sets me apart as a compassionate trainer. Think of me like your dog's therapist! I help us to understand your dog's emotions, address big feelings, and promote positive behaviors. My goal is to help your dog feel safe and reward them for making good choices. I focus on behavior modification for anxiety, fear, separation-related behaviors, reactivity, and aggression. I use systematic desensitization and counterconditioning to help your dog feel safe, which helps them to remain calm and confident in new settings.

What to expect
Consultation
During consultations, I hold an open discussion with pet parents to understand what behaviors your dog is displaying, why they display these behaviors, and what your goals are. We'll develop a training plan during the session which will be sent to you afterwards, regardless of whether you choose to keep working with me or not. I take detailed notes in assessing your pet's behavior to help you interpret these behaviors with a scientific basis. Training plans are typically intended for 6-8 weeks, meeting weekly, but can be extended when necessary or terminated by either party if appropriate.
Sessions
During our sessions, we'll review your pet's behavior since the last session. I'll introduce the week's plan to you, and we'll start with a brief demonstration of each skill, exercise, or behavior. Then, I'll hand you the leash and guide you to practice the skills with your dog. I prioritize you working with your own pet so that you both have the necessary skills to succeed! We'll debrief at the end and discuss your "homework" for the week (don't worry, not for a grade!). I like to end sessions with a short play session with your pet to reinforce that training is fun and a good experience!
