Train The Human, & The Dog

My name is Kimberly, and I’m owned by Ezra—one of my Australian Shepherds! I’m a certified dog trainer with experience in obedience, behavior, confidence building and working with challenging dogs. What sets me apart is that I don’t just train the dog—I train the human, too. I believe behavior is communication, and understanding WHY a dog is doing something is just as important as changing it. I teach owners how to read their dog, communicate clearly and create structure and trust that continues long after our sessions end.

What to expect

Consultation

The consultation is where I get to know you, your dog, and what is actually happening in your everyday life. We’ll discuss your dog’s history, temperament, routine, specific behaviors and your goals. I’ll observe your dog and the interaction between you, identify what may be contributing to the behavior, and explain what I’m seeing. From there, we’ll develop a realistic training plan designed specifically for your dog and household.

Sessions

Typically in your home

Training sessions are hands-on and tailored to the individual dog. I’ll demonstrate techniques with your dog, explain what I’m doing and why, and then work with you so you can confidently use those same techniques yourself. We’ll address behaviors in realistic situations whenever possible rather than simply practicing commands. Between sessions, you’ll have specific things to practice at home so we can build consistency, evaluate progress, and adjust the training as your dog develops.

Positive Reinforcement

My training approach focuses on understanding the individual dog, the behavior behind the behavior, and the relationship between the dog and owner. I use clear communication, consistency, structure, boundaries, and appropriate reinforcement to help dogs understand what is expected of them. I tailor training to each dog’s temperament, confidence level, environment, and specific challenges rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all method. My goal is not simply obedience—it is creating a calmer, more confident dog and giving owners practical tools they can successfully use in everyday life.
