Where Welfare Meets Training
Training is only part of the process. My goal is to help families build the skills and confidence to support their dogs long after our sessions end. With 23+ years as a Seattle Public Schools special education teacher, I break complex concepts into manageable steps and tailor coaching to each family. Whether working through reactivity, fear, a new puppy or rescue, separation anxiety, resource guarding, or everyday manners, I focus on practical solutions that fit the dog, the family, and their lifestyle. Clients leave feeling informed, empowered, and connected to their dogs.

What to expect
Consultation
Consultations are brief and designed to see if we're a good fit. I'll learn about the things you love about your dog, your current challenges, and discuss possible paths forward. I'll also explain my approach and what to expect during the intake session. The intake, which can last up to two hours, is a deeper dive into your dog's history, experiences, daily life, and behavior. I'll observe your dog, learn about your goals, and gather information to create an individualized plan for your dog and family.
Sessions
Every dog and family is unique. Dogs have individual personalities, experiences, strengths, and needs that require their own path forward. During your intake session, you'll leave with practical skills and strategies tailored to your specific situation. You'll also learn how to better read your dog's body language and understand what they are communicating. After the intake, each regular session focuses on implementing and refining the plan we developed together. As your dog progresses, we scaffold new skills and strategies to meet emerging challenges and build success in real-life situations.
More info
Welfare-centered, positive reinforcement, force-free, and fear-free practices guide my work. Before creating a training plan, I take time to understand the individual dog and the factors influencing behavior. Using the LEGS® model, canine ethology, and observation of body language and posture, I explore how experiences, environment, health, genetics, and emotional state contribute to behavior. My goal is to support welfare while helping families build skills, strengthen communication, and create a trusting relationship with their dog.
