Helping pet parents teach pups!
I have trained my own dogs to be therapy dogs so they can do patient visits at in-patient facilities. After doing this, I found a passion to help other dogs learn basic to more advanced skills. I have also worked with dogs with fear behaviors. I have also been a pet sitter through Rover for 11 years and have worked with pet parents on maintaining training techniques during walks and drop-in visits.
What to expect
Consultation
My consultations are about 20-30 minutes. During our consultation, I want to discuss with you what your training goals are and any past training experiences. I’ll ask about your dog’s background and observe their behavior to determine the best course of action in training.
Sessions
My sessions are up to 60 minutes in length. You will need to have your own treats but I am happy to provide recommendations. We will review previous skills, make any adjustments as needed, and either learn a new skill or continue progressing fluency in previous skills by increasing the difficulty. I will provide emailed handouts that detail steps of training a particular skill and what type of training should occur between sessions.
Reviews
Experience
I use positive reinforcement in my training and believe this is the most effective way to train dogs. We will work on teaching the skills with treats and then progress to the skills being fluent and completed without the need for treats. I also incorporate hand signals to allow pups to get their signals both visually and verbally. If you are inclined to use a clicker for training, I am happy to incorporate that as well!

Availability
I do work a full-time job with a variable schedule, but I am happy to work with pet parents to find training times that work for us both! Most sessions will be scheduled after 3pm weekdays, but I do have occasional Sunday availability as well.
