Enjoy your dog more!

After years training my own dogs and earning titles with them in Flyball and Rally Obedience, I started coaching other people to train their dogs. I learned so much about what I can accomplish with my dogs from excellent trainers and now I am fortunate to be able to help others. I regularly attend dog training and behavior conferences as well as numerous classes and seminars to stay up to date. After a career in law and education, I am excited to be able to combine my professional education experience and my love of training dogs to help you enjoy your dog more!

What to expect

Consultation

During the initial consultation, we will review your training goals and your dog's history and training background. I will provide you with a general training plan based on our conversation and answer any questions you may have.

Sessions

Typically in your home

We will get right to work! Depending on your goals and your dog's training background and engagement, we will usually work on three different skills or exercises per session. Some may be repeat skills and some may be new. These exercises will be what you work on in between sessions. Generally, the more you practice with your dog, the quicker you will see results. But, this is a judgment-free zone. Sometimes you might not be able to work with your dog as much as you would like despite your good intentions. We will continue from where you are in our next session.

Positive Reinforcement

Together, we will use effective, positive, and kind methods to train your dog. We work with what motivates your dog, usually food but also praise, movement, or toys, to help you and your dog meet your training goals. Frequent reward and reinforcement is one of the most effective tools to build the desired skill or behavior. Once your dog masters the behavior, the reward and reinforcement is then modified. We will use methods and exercises that work best for your individual dog, always employing clear, consistent communication. Your dog will love working with you to learn new things!
