Keeping Dogs and People Together
I keep up on continuing my education in dog training. I spend time reading books, taking online and in-person courses, and working with my own dogs to keep up on the latest methods, training, and behavior knowledge. If I don't know something, I'm not going to pretend like I do. I will either find the answer or refer you elsewhere if I cannot. I help my clients by giving extra resources to allow for greater understanding outside of the lessons as well as answering questions both during and in between training sessions via phone or email. I also studied with a certified behaviorist for a year.

Consultation
My consultations are laid-back. I want to get as much information about what is happening as possible. I ask that you set aside an hour to an hour and a half for us to talk. I prefer to meet the dog during the consultation and see some of the behaviors that you're struggling with as well as learn some of your pup's motivators. At the end of the session, I answer any questions you have and will go over a personalized recommendation/plan for you.
Sessions
My lessons are divided into 3 or 4 different behaviors, with 3 parts for each behavior. I begin each new behavior with instructions and talk about why we'll be teaching it, then show you what that will look like, then allow you to have some hands-on practice. During the hands-on practice, I will provide feedback and troubleshooting as needed. At the end of the session, we'll do a quick overview of what we worked on and go over what your homework will be. I do require that you practice at least 2-3 times between sessions, since practice will help you and your pup!
More info
My methodology in training is force-free and fear-free. I utilize games, patterns, and fun training behaviors with both my dog and human clients to help change unwanted behaviors and strengthen wanted behaviors. I do not use or condone the use of aversive methods such as prong collars, choke collars, shock/e-collars, water bottles, hitting, etc... If my clients come to me already using these items due to fear for their safety or the safety of their dogs, I do not judge, but will try to help and guide my client to the point of not needing to use these items or methods any longer.

I am currently working a full-time job as a bus driver, so I will not be available Monday through Friday during the school year. I will have availability for a few training clients on the weekends, any time from 11am to 6pm. I will have more availability during the summers when school is out.
