Professional, Humane Dog Training

My formal education built the foundation for my work in canine behavior, while extensive hands-on experience has refined my ability to accurately assess behavior and identify underlying causes. This allows me to create engaging, effective, and humane training programs tailored for success. I specialize in dogs labeled “difficult,” including those with fear, anxiety, reactivity, and aggression. By addressing emotional states rather than suppressing behavior, I help dogs feel better so they can behave better. Confidence and calm are the cornerstones of lasting change.

What to expect

Consultation

During the initial consultation, I review both historical and current behavior concerns, observe the dog in real time, and provide foundational exercises to begin implementing at home. We will practice these exercises together so I can critique technique and timing to assure success at home. I offer ideas for daily enrichment as well as lifestyle changes to manage behaviors and facilitate change.

Sessions

Typically in your home

We begin by reviewing progress with the initial foundation work and, based on that assessment, I introduce additional exercises to advance the program. We practice new skills together to ensure proper technique and timing for success. I also address client questions and provide guidance to build confidence for both dog and handler. Between sessions, clients are encouraged to share videos and reach out for ongoing support, feedback, and clarification as needed.

Positive Reinforcement

My approach focuses on emotional well-being, using structured games and positive reinforcement to motivate learning. I follow proven scientific principles and teach clients to use a clear marker word, helping dogs understand exactly what they are doing right. This creates clarity, reduces stress, and encourages repeat success. Grounded in classical conditioning, my methods shift a dog’s emotional response to situations, leading to lasting behavior change by helping dogs feel more confident, calm, and secure—not just compliant.
