Positive training for pawsome pets
Training should be fun! But it must also be adaptable and effective. I offer a mix of behavior consultations, skill-building classes, and one-on-one sessions, both virtual and in-person, to help clients and their dogs and cats reach their training objectives. In 2017, training a shelter dog “down” showed me the power of positive reinforcement. Now, I use it to teach dogs skills like “drop it” and leash manners, assist cats with cooperative nail trims and harness training, and address problem behaviors.

What to expect
Consultation
The initial consultation is designed to understand your needs and make a plan. Whether it’s training to prevent future issues or addressing current behavior issues, we’ll start by gathering intel. If prevention, we’ll create a plan covering specific foundational skills to develop, enrichment strategies to implement, and how to integrate training into your routine. For existing problems like leash reactivity, we’ll discuss the history of the problem and develop a realistic plan including training techniques, management strategies, and ongoing support so we address the cause of the behavior.
Sessions
During a training session, we’ll talk about how things are going so we can make any needed adjustments to the training plan. We’ll do some training. We’ll talk about reading a pet’s body language and enrichment. We’ll do more training. We’ll do Q&A. We’ll do more training. We’ll go over any homework. We’ll set a time for our next session.
