Compassionate, Open-Minded Training
Ready to enjoy time with your dog instead of battling behaviors? I approach dog training with a sense of curiosity and a focus on observing and asking thorough questions first. I enjoy creative problem solving and do not quit easily. Though I am newer to being a certified trainer, I have trained dogs my entire life. I am also able to leverage the knowledge of a wonderful network of trainers in cases where additional information is needed. I am looking forward to working with you and your dog!

What to expect
Consultation
I will typically start by asking the client to explain the behaviors that the dog is exhibiting and what has already taken place to correct them. I will ask a number of follow-up questions and, where applicable, try to observe the described behavior. I will then make some recommendations for next steps.
Sessions
This is dependent on what the specific skill or behavior is that the client is looking to work on with their dog. We will typically demonstrate a cue or a response, and then do a few targeted practice repetitions of the training item. We will practice positively reinforcing they desired action or behavior, and speak about any potential confounding factors. There will then be some prescribed homework between the dog and the client in the intervening time before the next training session.
More info
I ascribe to the Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive training philosophy. This philosophy emphasizes skill building through positive reinforcement rather than dominance. This is widely considered a humane and non-fear-based training style.

Availability
I have several pockets of availability during a typical week, but I recommend messaging me with your preferred times as a starting point. I often have time Thursday mornings, Friday evenings, and over the weekends, for example. These are not all of my times of availability, but just a few examples.
