Behavior therapy for your pet
By the time most people turn to me, I'm often their last hope. I love working on separation & isolation-related distress, fearful dogs, all cat issues, and give me all birds and exotics. I worked for many years as a veterinary assistant and behavior therapist in a board certified veterinary behaviorist clinic, so I've seen it all. And you don't have to have a "problem" pet for us to work together!

What to expect
Consultation
The 60-90 min Initial Assessment is online so I can see your pet in their natural environment without me as a distraction and to make a recording to uploaded afterwards. I'll meet your household & see the environment while we chat. Then you'll find space to use lots of small treats to lure your pet around so I can see their movement. We'll discuss options for treatment (including a possible follow up with your vet) and collaborate on environmental and social modifications you can put in place for immediate relief. We usually have time to end with a couple easy foundation exercises.
Sessions
The day before a session, I ask for an email update with specific questions. You'll demonstrate your progression, and then I'll coach you on refining the skills and next steps. I'll often leave you with 3-ish new steps or skills to work on for 2 weeks. For separation- or isolation-related behaviors, treatment usually involves a tracking chart, so our "session time" may be split between actual Zoom meetings and my time reviewing the information on the chart and adding new training steps. ' I'm happy to answer quick questions via email between sessions.
More info
I'm am animal behavior therapist and your pet's advocate rather than just a trainer. We'll examine your end goals and your pet's needs, and come up with a plan based on TRUST and FUN. I use reward-based positive reinforcement. For those kiddos who are too scared to take a treat or kind word (especially birds), I use a constructional approach until your pet is relaxed enough to take life rewards. My methods involve teaching your pet relaxation, self-regulation, a wider vocabulary, and resilience, and communicating with your vet on your pet's medical status.
