Learning for you and your dog
With more than 15 years of experience working with dogs of all shapes, sizes and temperaments, Erika loves getting to know the people who love their dogs and is a passionate teacher, of both human and canines! She believes that it's important for her clients to understand why dogs behave the way they do so that they can learn to problem-solve together. As a dedicated coach, Erika will customize each lesson to align with your personal training goals.

Consultation
During our consultation, I will spend some time going over your dog's medical and behavioral history with you to get a full picture of what life with your dog is like. We will discuss the challenges you are facing and develop a training plan together that is customized for you and your dog and will fit your lifestyle. We often discuss training methodologies and I'm happy to answer any questions you have about various tools and techniques used by other trainers. During your initial consultation, we will get started with hands on training with your dog and schedule our next session together.
Sessions
In your first session, we will review what we learned together during your initial consultation and discuss what has and hasn't been working for you and your family since then. Together we will build on the skills you and your dog need to be successful and overcome the challenges you face together.
More info
Positive reinforcement training is about way more than just giving your dog treats! It's about understanding how, when, and why behaviors are happening and developing a plan to strengthen desirable behaviors (sitting quietly while you open the door for a guest) and reduce undesirable behaviors (barking at the mailman.

Availability
I currently work full time for Dogwise.com, a publishing company that creates books about dog training, behavior, health, fitness and nutrition. My work-from-home job gives me lots of flexibility with my schedule and I am happy to find a time, during the day, in the evenings, or on the weekends, that works for both of us!
