Making training fun and rewarding

I have experience as a trainer and manager in a large training facility working with dogs of all sizes, ages, and breeds. I love teaching foundational skills, advanced obedience, and sports skills such as agility. I also find it rewarding helping dogs with behavioral challenges such as reactivity and anxiety. Every dog is unique, and has different needs but with my experience I am confident that I can provide you with the tools you need to help your dog be the best version of itself.

What to expect

Consultation

My consultations have two goals. First to assess your dogs current behavior and needs. I want to see what they currently struggle with, what sort of personality they have, and asses what training methods they might best respond to. Secondly I need to know your goals with your dog. What are you struggling with, and what does your ideal version of your dog look like. Once we have established some training goals I can go over a general training plan for your dog with you and we can get started!

Sessions

Typically in your home

In a typical session we will work on 1-2 skills, going over different exercises and techniques that you can implement to get the desired behavior. We will positive reinforcement methods to make the training fun and engaging, so having some of their favorite treats and toys ready is essential. I will also go over management and prevention for unwanted behaviors, and specific homework for you to practice between sessions. Training is a constant activity for your dog so it is important you stay consistent with it. My goal is that training is something you and your dog both look forward to.

Positive Reinforcement

My training centers around teaching owners and their dogs how to better communicate with each other in order to meet everyone’s needs. I use positive reinforcement to make training fun and engaging, turning lessons into games that your dog wants to play. My goal is to give you tools that you can use anytime, anywhere, so that you understand their needs and how to handle different situations that might be challenging for you or them. My lessons typically begin with building a foundation of focus and impulse control skills, which can then be tailored to different specific needs.
