What to expect
Consultation
In person consultations will be necessary for behavior training, whether for a fearful or reactive dog. It will help me both get to know the dog, and their environment. For basic training a phone or video call will work. The consultation will be to establish your dog and household's needs. I will ask you some questions to help form my training plan. Dogs reactive to people and dogs who are afraid of visitors should start the consultation in a separate room where they will feel more comfortable.
Sessions
For a typical training session, I will start by introducing the skills we will work on that day. Then, if your dog is comfortable being handled by another person, I will demonstrate how to teach your dog the skill. Then, you will practice the skills with your dog. We will also have time to discuss any issues you may have had with the homework.

I am a force-free, positive reinforcement trainer. I use a variety of strategies and troubleshooting for each skill I teach, in order to adapt my teaching to the needs of the specific dog I am training.
